September 2017 Gastric Bypass surgeries
Apple203 replied to LifeChangesLori's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Holy cow, I am sorry for you!!! It speaks to my worst fear -- that all of the pre-op testing will uncover something wrong with me that will mean no surgery, either. -
Where are all the 50 something bypass patients?
Apple203 replied to choosehope's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 53 -- I love reading posts from women and men in my boat that are successful! Still four nutrition consults away from submitting my stuff to insurance for approval. I wish I could just have it done, already!! -
Gastric Bypass and Diabetes
Apple203 replied to BellaItalia088's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mhm this is my second pessimistic post today, but have you considered the possibility that you have late onset Type 1 -- not Type 2 diabetes, and the surgery itself was the final trigger? -
After 12 years I cant eat anymore and have 0 energy

Have you seen anyone other than a gastroenterologist? Like an oncologist? -
Surgery yesterday -- what have I done?
Apple203 replied to Aginn10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering, LOLOL -
I like my Vitamix -- it operates low and slow for the best scrambled eggs, and super high for crushing ice and frozen fruit. Its a workhorse in my kitchen.

Just getting started need suggestions
Apple203 replied to kokopellie29's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
SFH Pure Vanilla, spinach and fruit makes a good protein shake. Protein to Carb ratio is excellent. Can be found at Whole Foods. -

Non supportive support system
Apple203 replied to sunflower71609's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yea, and ugh, this is why I am not sharing with my family (other than H and kids). Sometimes I wonder if their own regrets may be a factor. What would my 63 yo future self say to me if she had a time machine? I'm pretty sure she would kick my butt for staying obese and unable to live the life she/I deserves << maybe that is what my 75yo mom would think about my upcoming surgery, but about herself? -
7 days post op: horrible night -chills, anxiety, fast heart rate
Apple203 replied to BariGrrl90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like a panic attack to me -- have you ever had one before? They can be very scary. But check with your surgeon, definitely!! -
Why haven't you been banned??
-
You're messaging me privately and posting here also even though I literally have never seen your name before. I must be famous. And you must have absolutely no semblance of a life.

I found an old post of yours, seems the shoe is on the other foot now: Okay,
Steven, Abeille, you've gotten the attention you came here for. You can pretend to be an adult now and stop harassing her.My personal recommendation is a mea culpa.

Should I be concerned? Incisions...
Apple203 replied to SIPS in Seattle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a wound like that from a toe fusion -- surgeon whipped out a scalpel and cut off the necrotic tissue, and then it healed. I learned after that to scrub wounds more aggressively. Hopefully you are healing well now. :-) -
This is precisely why I am not going to tell anyone about my plans -- it is a big and personal decision we have to make without everybody else's biases and hangups weighing in.
-
Seriously, this made me giggle.

I regret this surgery
Apple203 replied to QueenTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting, my PCP warned me that she had a few weight loss surgery patients that were unhappy, but the vast majority were happy. I am sorry it hasnt worked out for you. Hope its better for you later when the weight loss starts to really accumulate. Also interesting about post-menopausal folks not experiencing the doldrums -- finally something in the "plus" column (in addition to no more periods, quite a big plus, LOL). -
Submitted to Insurance

Lucky you!! I imagine I would want to call every day, too! -
10 days out! Don't like preop diet
Apple203 replied to Aginn10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No one knows what you should do but you, but there is no shame or harm in asking your surgeon to postpone things for a few months while you work on the last 20#s, right? -
10 days out! Don't like preop diet
Apple203 replied to Aginn10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aginn, this might be a good time to try different protein shakes/powders, if that is allowed in your program. -
How do I stop eating so fast?
Apple203 replied to Sleeved3.29.17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I downloaded an app that measures 30 seconds between bites --seriously, there is an app for literally everything!! "Slo Mow Eating Timer" is the one I got, but there are other choices. I eat super fast myself, and decided to tackle this while I wait for surgery. -
Why do we do things we know won't be fun? I do it, too, but I'm learning to say "no". Can you skip the shower?
-
You have every right to be disappointed, I guess other Texans are in the same boat. Bad Harvey. I hope you get rescheduled promptly. I hope congress comes through with federal funding to help TX and LA rebuild. I hope bariatricpals are able to find the supplies they need to stay safe and on program.

Has anyone ever had a PCP stop their pre-op 6 month diet due to not losing enough?
Apple203 replied to pg278's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10 lbs a month is a tough goal -- I'd find another doctor! -
Hi Bits, can you share what you covered with the psych evaluation? (I want to be prepared so I can pass it, LOL)
-
I watched several Dr. Weiner's bariatric videos, and he mentioned that a specific gene has been linked as a predictor for weight loss success with surgery. Does anyone know anything about this?
-
Post op people only! Anyone in here that doesn't cook???
Apple203 replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
