Apple203 replied to Doo Lally's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Interest article: "...they observed a significant decrease in GERD, from 42.1%-3.1% when HH repair was added to the sleeve procedure". -
Three months in -- some observations, expected and unexpected

What a lovely post -- good for you!!!!! -
FWIW, I think you have a great attitude about returning to classes (as a Mom with kids your age :-)) Just discard all of the extramural stuff as needed until you get your feet under you. All the best to you!

LOL, so true!! I was happy when I was dxd with such a strong co-mordidity, too -- we are ridiculous :-) -
Mmmmm....sounds delicious!

Husband told people about surgery
Apple203 replied to M.A.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I totally get wanting to keep the surgery private. But, frankly, I think the cat is out of the bag for people getting WLS -- there's no way people are NOT going to suspect/know when 100 pounds melts away. I know I go there when I see it. -
Killain you've been on this board for over a year --do you really suggest the OP surge ahead in a MONTH?

THE HARD PART (waiting for insurance to approve)
Apple203 replied to sassy683's topic in Insurance & Financing
What? What kind of psychologist would ADD to a patient's anxiety? INSANE!!! Mine told me right away that I was approved. Gah... people (even psychologists) do such dumb stuff. -
Great post

So, serious question here, why not wait? Not forever, but maybe a month or two while you prepare? Geez, there's a thread on the board about someone who got a procedure she didn't even know she was getting and/or understood. I wouldnt want to be that person,

Am I really about to do this?
Apple203 replied to Klynngetsfit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's what my surgeon required, beyond what my insurance required (which was only 6 months of nutrition classes): 3 surgeon appts, extensive lab tests, psych eval, stress test & echo, sleep study x 2, xray/sonogram/bariumCTscan (all in one day), endoscopy, pre-surg PCP exam. Bariatric Optimization Program with PT (BOP) -- optional, before and after surgery. -

Hey, I also want to add that something just "clicked" for me, too -- I guess I just wasn't ready before that. Be sure to check with your surgeon about his/her requirements, because they may be different than your insurance requirements. -

I'd like to suggest you start going to the nutrition classes now -- I got a month's head start that way. -

Holy cow, that was pretty presumptuous of them!! -
You are getting off easy -- I have 6 months nutrition classes, 3 surgeon appts, lab tests, psych, stress test & echo, sleep study x 2, xray/sonogram/bariumCTscan (all in one day), endoscopy, pre-surg PCP exam. I feel like I am forgetting something... I remember! Bariatric Optimization Program with PT (BOP) -- optional, before and after surgery.

Am I too old to have VSG
Apple203 replied to tahoegirl96118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way -- I am 53 and I have 30 more years in me, if I live as long as my family. Thats a lot of years! -
Yes I am worried!! But I have 3 common comorbidities -- such is life as you grow older (I am 53).

@FluffyChick Some second guessing right before and after surgery sound pretty normal to me! :-) My next appt with surgeon is in two weeks and my fingers are crossed!
