Out With the Old--In With the New!
Apple203 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@FluffyChix I really can't believe that your two weeks are almost up -- seems like you just started!! How excited are you at this point? I meant to tell you, I DID try banana+coffee, but with chocolate shake as base and espresso powder as coffee. And some spinach, just because. Its now my favorite shake! -
Where are these trolls coming from?

What?? People saw your post on a forum and you are calling them out for seeing your post? -
My orders are to mix water with gatorade or 100% fruit juice after surgery, for one week, before I move to protein shakes/full liquids. A week of zero calories would be a hot mess.

I love this thread. Just saying...

I had very similar symptoms, and I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. You do the home test, then an overnight test at sleep center to determine pressure settings for an APAP machine. I've had my machine for 2 weeks now, and my average number of apneas has dropped from 65 to 8 per hour, and I feel so much more rested! So if you are diagnosed, don't panic! You and everyone in hearing range will sleep better :-)

My suggestion would be to get another job. Sometimes you just need to be ruthless about things like this!!

I just downloaded this book from Amazon, can't wait to read it tonight! The concept of losing fast to maintain interest is of particular interest to me -- I've never lost more than 20-30 pounds at one time.

Hear, hear to everything y'all are saying! The last place I want to end up is continuing with extreme diets and eating things I don't like or in a way that feels unnatural to me. ps, this is hilarious: Fatness NeverLean. My flaming dress had porkchops on it.

Congratulations!!

Thats why I started taking it! I had very bad anemia a few years ago and lost too much hair for my liking. :-)

I've been taking biotin for a month or so and it's really helping my nails! Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

Its the skins -- my nutritionist said I can have them if I peel them (like that is going to happen, LOL)

I believe you can get a second referral from any the specialists you see before surgery.

Questions about the liquid diet
Apple203 replied to Cats315's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you should just throw caution to the wind and go for March 8th!! After the liquids, I have 2 weeks of those protein shakes, then another 2 weeks with 50% shakes, 50% softs. -

Day of surgery, March 14th. I get to eat regular food 2 weeks pre-op. Do you have a date yet? Still shooting for May? -
Questions about the liquid diet
Apple203 replied to Cats315's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Would it make you feel better to know that I have 1 week of clear liquids before I can have a shake? Our liquids are 50-50 water and juice, so calories will be in the 400 kcal/day range. An entire week! -
Questions about the liquid diet
Apple203 replied to Cats315's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As Little Green pointed out, all of our plans are a little different. I can have dairy, soy, almond, or rice milk with my protein shakes. I can also have nonfat yogurt, lowfat cottage cheese, up to 1/2 cup fruit, and 1 T peanut butter. But not all at once :-) My target parameters: >250 kcal, 20-30g protein, >8g fat, >6g sugar, >15g carb, and >10g sugar alcohols (tho sugar alcohols are discouraged). So my surgeon is shooting for up to 1,000 kcal per day. -

Maybe pre-op you can move to actual food (many people have this option)? -

Bummer, Fluffy Dr. Weiner suggests an alternative online: 1 c. yogurt, 1 banana, 4T PB2 or natural PB (http://drmatthewweiner.com/a-better-protein-shake/). Maybe you can run that by your dr? I personally like sfh Pure from Whole Foods, but if whey's the problem, its not for you. I've always wondered about the non-whey powders -- now I know I don't need to try them! -
Love of my life (dont tell my husband or kids, LOL)

Time off work and telling co-workers?
Apple203 replied to Livetothrive's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I simply signed out for 2.5 weeks. When someone asked, I simply said I have minor surgery scheduled. He was too polite to ask what (which is what I can expect from the rest).
