By my calculations, a person needs about 10 ounces of protein (fish/chicken/beef) a day to hit 65-75 grams of protein -- more if you are adding yogurt/cottage cheese/eggs/beans.

OMG, you have had terrible luck!! Get better. :-)

I'm obsessing about serving sizes, so pls excuse me in advance :-) Ho many meals a day do you need to eat to meet your protein goal?

How much could you eat after surgery?
Apple203 replied to ElseeG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Did you RD/NUT give you instructions about how much to eat? -
When I was having incision pain, surgeon's nurse said I could take Advil if Tylenol didn't work. But only for 2 weeks. I didn't take either because I figure my liver has been through enough.

In a couple of weeks, 2.5 ounces protein, plus 1/4-1/2 cup fruit/veges. I have a calorie target, too (only because I asked): 600-800 per day. This is up to 3 month checkup.

So I dropped my r d a note asking this question last night and her reply this morning was to try to hit the weight goal not the volume goal. Confirming that it is true all of our practices are different LOL Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

Gastric emptying study
Apple203 replied to Astarisborn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what they did for my son when they thought he had gastroparesis. He had to eat nuclear marshmallows and he was scanned. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app -

We have a new tattoo!!! Picture? -
I was wondering about that. My surgeon has us on a 4 meal a day schedule: 2 shakes plus 2 meals with 1/4 cup soft food. The mix is basically an acknowledgement that we'll need shakes to get the required protein.

I have to get some of those dumplings next time I am at Costco.

Why are my neighbor's kids not wearing helmets...
Apple203 replied to Apple203's topic in Rants & Raves
I have no plans to report anything to anyone, or even talking to them 'cause they surely know the rules already). I was just venting! -
How are fellow March sleevers doing?

Why are my neighbor's kids not wearing helmets...
Apple203 replied to Apple203's topic in Rants & Raves
Meh, I have no problem with homeschooling. But the helmet thing really does make me nuts, and it is required in blue-blue-blue Maryland. And, my street is fairly steep and ends in a 4-way stop. But no one has been killed (except my first dog :-((), so there is that. Yes, we drove around without seatbelts when we were kids, but people died a lot more from car accidents. And riding in back of trucks? When I was in HS, we lost 6 or more kids to one accident. This was early 80s, before it be came illegal. -

Burning/pulling pain
Apple203 replied to kcaudle83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At the risk of jinxing myself, I felt a wee bit better this morning when I got out of bed. I guess it is possible that I have simply leaned to move without engaging the impacted muscle/nerves??? Since last night was the worst, it makes me wonder if I pulled something free. -
It'll come soon :-)

I should, LOL. Dad's a professor at local college and wife is homeschooling all five kids. They look good on paper, but one of their kids is gonna get hurt. -
I haven't noticed an appreciable change during the day. Isn't it amazing how good you feel when you first wake up??

Where are all the 50 something bypass patients?
Apple203 replied to choosehope's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There's no wrong place to be on this site -- except the Men's Room, because they get mad when ladies accidentally post there. The only difference I've found in sleeve verses bypass pre- and post-surgery is the vitamin requirements!! I have no idea why someone started this thread and included "bypass" in the title!
