    Questioning everything

So, this really isn't me, which freaks me out: If I CAN'T lose weight pre-surgery, does that carry on? Time will tell, since I had surgery 3/14....

    Baggy clothes are the best

Wow, indeed! Keep up the hard work!

    Surgery, “it’s the easy way.”

I gotta agree with @summerset, mainly because I've never lost 30/35 pounds before, despite MANY failed attempts. I just don't lose more than 20 or so -- sure hope I am not in the small percentage that fail with surgery. :-(

    Longest stall

I'm in the same boat -- for 3 weeks now. I saw some downward movement and thought the stall was over, but it was only temporary. Today I weighed one pound less than 3 weeks ago, and I am oscillating between about 194 and 198, with daily weight variations up to 2#. I weigh my food/measure my food and track every bite, so 2# swings are clearly just water. I think we just need to stick with the program and count on it to work. And, have realistic expectations about what we will reasonably lose every week. But man, this month's looking like a hot mess! Right now, I've lost 1#!!!!!

    9 weeks Post Op Calories

I am also 600-800 calories/day until 3 month appointment. Not sure what happens then.

    C-PAP machine??

I had to bring mine. The alternative was that the hospital would provide one, which didnt sound clean to me!

    IM STARVING

I agree -- I think the hunger is real. Today I was in the grocery store and I started salivating in the produce department. I thought it was pretty telling. And I can't wait to have an honest-to-god salad.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Let's do Fridays then! I'll start: HW: 228 (3/1) SW: 216 (3/14) Last Fri: 195.8 Today: 193.8 (Week 6 for me) So, down 2.0 since last week, 22.2 since surgery, and 34.4 overall. I am watching my weekly totals and looking for patterns, but its just too early to see anything yet. Anyone finding patterns yet? Oh, and I'm replacing XLs with Ls in my closet, and 16W with 16 << back in regular sizes instead of plus sizes.

    June 2018 RnY

That's great -- congrats! Here's hoping you are spared another 6 months of nutrition classes :-)
  19. Putting weight loss in perspective becomes easier as you get more weeks under your belt. I promise! :-)
  20. From surgery through week 6, I am averaging 3.6 lbs/week. According to my FitBit, I burn ~2,200 cals/day, and I eat < 800 cals/day, so my future weight loss should average to 2.4 lbs/week. I have no idea how accurate FitBit's estimates are.
  21. I just got the new Fitbit Versa, which I LOVE!! Before that, I relied on my phone for alarms. Watch is much better!
  22. How do you calculate it -- from starting weight 6 months before surgery, or from surgery day? Just found out my surgeon calculates it from my highest weight since he started seeing me, and my goal weight at 150, which puts me at 40% EBW lost. This led me to wonder how everyone else does it?
  23. I think I'd be OK at 160 lbs, but I would understand your frustration! :-)
  24. Some tips: Chewing: I used an app called "Slow Mow Eating Time" to practice. Its an easy habit to pick up! And after surgery, you will naturally be cautious. Water: I eat 4 meals a day -- my surgeon had us start this early in the process. In between meals, and after your last meal, focus on drinking 16 oz. of water. You will have 2.5 hours, so easy-peasy! 30 Minute Windows: I set my smart watch to alert me 30 minutes before each meal, and at each meal. I use a the stopwatch feature to time the 30 minutes after eating. The alerts just buzz my wrist, so nobody else is disturbed. For the most part, I can control my environment and stick to my schedule. Vitamins: I take everything at once first thing in the morning. I use a line called NutraMetrix at the advice of my surgeon. I never crushed my other meds, I just swallow them. I am only 6 weeks in, and it has all become very routine. Good luck!!
