  1. My husband had his sleeve done in September. And was still in a lot of pain a week out. And yes drinking made his stomach hurt. Try different temps for the liquids. We found that cold hurt less. I had bypass in July and I couldn't and still can't have cold, i have to have room temp or start to hurt. Once you finally get all the gas out and the swelling goes down, you will start to feel better. This stage you are in is what my surgeon calls "swell hell" it does get better. This is just a bump, in the road. Warm showers also help get that gas moving and help reduce swelling some. Hugs...remember that pillow is your friend use it.

    Getting covered in Ohio

I was going to lose my secondary, which was caresource, and the financial people at cleveland told me to use anthem that they cover it. I just have Medicare and regular Medicaid and mine was 100% covered. Also Cleveland clinic bought into Akron General, however they don't own Akron General, they basically have management say and that's it. So really research your doctor. You see I live in Barberton and the Dr at Akron requires and addition 3500 after the insurances paid. That's above and beyond what the insurance will pay she said and it's for fees. I was thinking I don't think so, it's also in writing. So it's been 3 years since I looked at Akron. I decided to go by Dr ratings and complication rates, and decided in March of 2017 to go with Cleveland Clinic Main campus. Remember just because the they have Cleveland clinic in their name dosent mean they have the same drs from main campus. My Dr is the director of the metabolic institute at cleveland and none of his staff travels to Akron. So really really do your homework as that can make a difference with coverage for you as well as it is imperative for your health.

    Medicare & Comorbidity Diagnosid

Medicare dosent require comorbs. I just had my bypass done on July 20th. And I also had Medicaid as a back up. Medicare pays for it all without any diet or anything. I was on the operating table 30 days after final Dr approval. Make sure you use a Medicare center for excellence and it's done. As long as it is a sleeve or bypass. And you meet just the bmi. If the Dr has it is medically necessary then it's paid. I had mine done at cleveland clinic. And my husband is having his done September 7th. Like I said no hoops to jump. Nothing. Medicare dosent have a requirement for diet or anything. You can also read that on medicare.gov Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    $25K in the hole

They approve bypass revision but unless there is a complication with the band won't take it out. Insurance companies are stupid some times. They paid 47000 for mine. Double what private pay pays. Talk about abuse of the system. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Desperately seeking a mentor/buddy

Oh my goodness. I had my bypass done on the 20th of July. I am 2 weeks out as of today. I went to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and had mine done. I can share with you what I have been shown. My Dr still has me on a full liquid diet. Your body needs time to heal. So let it rest and heal. Don't lift more then 5 lbs. The inside will take lo her to heal then the outside. Protein target should be a minimum of 60 grams and fluid total including protein shakes, water down Apple juice, or sugar free frozen ice, should be 64 ounces, (8 glasses) dehydration is the main reason people are re-admitted. Also by now you should be chewing 2 children's vitamins. Iron supplement and calcium. Here is a copy of my book Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
