If I'm not mistaken you can have yogurt too cant you? I have bariatric advantage and make my own shakes. I'm not even at the pre op yet. I'm in the pre approval stage with insurance. But I love the shakes. Down 6 pounds so far... but an egg, I agree is ok. NO FAST FOOD. Lol good look you CAN DO IT!!

To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!
Geri Marie replied to heycrystal2052's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I Agree! My nutritionist 7 years ago told me if you just stay in the outer areas of your grocery store and stay away from the middle aisles you'll be doing good. So I have. I NEVER walk down the frozen sections. I dont buy "Fat free or low fat items" and lastly I try to just buy naturally sweetened items that have stevia in them. -
To eat daily, or not to eat...EGGS!

I love eggs. I like to mix hard boiled eggs with avocados and that gives me a great meal that keeps me full. Now I know avocado is high in fat, but its good fat. When I have my blood work the one thing that my drs are always amazed at it my cholesterol is that of a healthy 30 year old. (I'm 46 and 250 lbs). I contribute it to the avocados and olive oil I consume. Sometimes I eat avocado, tomato, shallots, and cucumber with olive oil and red wine vinegar. Now mind you, Ive had the band and now awaiting the sleeve. So I'm not entirely sure I could eat any of this post op. I hope so but we will see. Anyway...chat Ching thats my 2 cents worth lol -

Cut Calories and Excercise and no weight loss
Geri Marie replied to bwillia08's topic in Fitness & Exercise
My nutritionist told me that. She said to stay away from all caffeinated beverages because of this. I didn't drink coffee at the time, but have since taken it up. So now I've cut down to one cup. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app -

Plus, I know you don't want to hear this because I didn't either, coffee is not good either. I guess your body goes to burn the caffeine first instead of the fat? Also you are forcing your body to gain muscle mass is sounds like to me. I'd cut the oatmeal, one cup of coffee, no pasta, try more eggs and cottage cheese? Good luck to you! Yesterday I had my band removed. I'm definitely in some pain. My belly button area hurts pretty bad. I get my sleeve on November 13th!! Excited and ready for the next journey. I think I'm going to start getting rid of a few habits before hand. The hardest one I see is not drinking while eating. I can do it!! Right now I'm having issues eating too much because I'm sure my tummy is swelled from the surgery. Does the sleeve hurt more than this? And if so on a scale of 1 to 10 how much more? I am definitely experiencing the gas issues. I'm just going to have to physc myself out for the next step

Bye Bye Band...Hello Sleeve
Geri Marie replied to Geri Marie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I'm so excited but to tell you the truth I dont think I can handle much more pain than this. I am currently not working due to a spinal surgery so loss of energy wont be an issue. I think I may try the vitamin patches from this site, including the B12 one. I think that may help! Anyway good luck and I can not wait to join you!!!!!!!! -
Ok so tomorrow its time to say goodbye to my Lap Band. I feel kinda sad. I remember how excited I was to get it. How driven I was. I just couldn't get the hang of it. Everything was always getting stuck. Couldn't eat yogurt, salad, or cereal. Toward the end even water was coming back up. Sleeve on November 13th! Can't wait to start my new journey.

Well coming from someone who has had a few surgeries, the anesthesia is the easy part. I'm a little nervous about the complications, but then I watched an actual operation and now im super excited. My surgeon is the one in the area that teaches others so I'm confident. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app

So glad to have stumbled on this post...I have a fe questions. I am getting my band removed next week on the 16th. I have a few questions on converting to the sleeve. With the band if I didn;t basically chew my food into purée it felt stuck, and I would get a ton of flem and either had to throw it up or just wait for it to pass. I think that is why I never stopped drinking while eating. Food always felt stuck....does the sleeve feel the same or will I be able to tell that my tiny tummy is full? I just never got the hang of the band.

why did i bother to tell my friends UGH
Geri Marie replied to sassy683's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Some people think surgery is sooooo drastic. But now days they have such awesome technology that I think it would be silly to NOT have it. But sure as s**t as soon as you involve others they suddenly become Dr doggie howser lol. Ignore them and come here. I'm not telling many because I had a failed lap band and I could only imagine what they say about the Sleeve. Bottom line.... You do you girl. We're here for you Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app -
Mentally starving!
Geri Marie replied to Nursesmiley's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Could I suggest webstaurantstore.com. I ordered sugar free davinci flavored syrup to add to my protein shakes(Its only $5-$6 per large bottle 750 ML. I got Chai, salted caramel, pumpkin pie, toasted marshmallow, and I also used Coconut milk instead of almond milk with chocolate protein for a "Mounds" flavored shake!! Like James said use this important time and take advantage of the weight loss phase. I can't wait!! I made an awesome PB&J shake with strawberry protein, PB2 dry peanut butter, and almond milk (I also add two stevia packets i like mine sweet) Hope this helps. -
Well I had the Lap Band back in 2010 and its been an uphill battle for me. It wasn't a great fit so I am having it removed on the 16th of this month, then my insurance requires a three month process. I have three classes, one nutrition class, and a physc appointment. But at least I have the date of November 13th. So I'm pretty excited! I just had spinal fusion on the 26th of June so I'm glad I'm going to have a couple months to fully heal.
-
Well I'm kinda a guru on hospital stays ( 2 spinal fusions, lap band) Bring your kindle, there are outlets behind your bed, but a power strip would be handy. They usually supply soap, shampoo, all that stuff but you may not be able to shower right away. I brought pjs to wear, loose clothing. Flip flops since you wont want to bend. And a brush. Good luck on your surgery cant wait for mine....November here ugh.

I just love his whole team!! I'm glad to be gong back to him. He's such a great guy and easy to talk to.

Today was the day! I'm revised!!

So Lucky!! I am having my band out and then the sleeve, but my dr wants to do it in two surgeries. He said he feels its better that way. Personally Id rather they do it like yours, all at once!! Good luck and congrats to you!! -
Where at in Florida may I ask? I live here. I'm so jealous of you guys!! My surgery for the sleeve isn't until November. I have a lap band removal surgery for the 16th. Dr. Bass is doing mine. He's such a great surgeon. He did my Band, and I had smooth sailing. It was just too many complications with the band. So Sleeve here I come!!!
-
Hey y'all I have a question. Have you tried to use vitamin patches? Do they work?
-
Yeah that is what I was going to do too. It seemed too good to be true lol. The vitamin mix seems good for me. I know after my lap band surgery I couldn't swallow pills, I just assumed it would be the same with the Sleeve. Have you had your surgery yet?
