Eating feels like a chore. Does that end?
Geri Marie replied to Topher_B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, that doesn’t last any longer than a couple months. Then your hunger comes back, and food does settle in your stomach better. -
Here’s my updated picks. Stalls sucks lol. I’m steady at 3 lbs a week, but have mini stalls.

Hey all! It’s been a great couple months for me! I had my surgery on November 15th with Dr. Bass in Naples Florida. This is the first time EVER I have been able to say I lost weight during the holidays! I started this journey with a weight of 254. Today I am at 209! I haven’t seen this weight since 2002! I’m starting to feel so much better! My knees, my back, my self esteem. I hope this finds all my fellow sleevers well!! Pictures will come once I’ve gotten below 200!!

Tummy Pictures?? Anyone brave enough?
Geri Marie replied to BrittneyH's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Brittney May I suggest you start using body butter NOW. Your def young and that will help tremendously! But body butter with coco butter and shea butter will be even better! I’m 46, not so young but taking it one day at a time. 254 to 209.....going to begin using the elliptical next week!! Good luck to you! -

Your too cute and funny!! This made me giggle -
Do the COBRA option. That’s what I have. It’s surprisingly simple to keep coverage and its just like your still working. Call them and get it set up! Dont loose out on the amazing journey!

Overate ate at 7 days!
Geri Marie replied to YummyMummy303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found I need to weigh my food at all times so I don’t over eat! Right now it seems anything over 3-3.5 ounces is too much! I tried just eyeballing it and had a couple nights of tummy aches and nausea. Good luck to everyone. -
5 Confessions (Join In)
Geri Marie replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I confess that I too modified the Puréed stage. I worry about how its going to go inn the next months. I haven’t lost as much as I want. I confess I am keeping pictures of me a secret so I can get a bigger effect from my family when I see them in June. -
Hey all! I had my surgery November 15th. I started off at 254 before liquid pre op. To date I am 226. I am very happy I’m not dropping it too fast. I havent seen the 220’s in three years so I’m stoked. I tried to have a little smoked Gouda yesterday. No no no. My tummy did NOT like that. Nor does it like anything sweet. I am learning that I need to just stick to the plan. Lol. I am testing the waters I guess? And its just not happening. So my diet consists of cottage cheese, refried beans, yogurt, and protein shakes. I am not having any issues getting my water down. I am however very constipated. I mean BAD. Ive tried to add miralax to my water, but its almost like I can tell its there and its hard to drink it. Any suggestions? Anywho just wanted to update everyone. Hope I’m not the only one......

I had surgery same day and My pain came 5 days after. I have that same burning, tugging, holy cow it hurts pain on my left side, but I was told its normal. It’s getting better, but still not completely gone. Last night after watching a scary live I took the dog out and spooked myself in the dark, and ran to the door....the pain came back. Note to self no running!

Well I am 8 days out and had hot flashes and chills still today. More hot than chills but maybe a couple weeks?

Hey all. I went to the store today and saw all the tables filled with pastries, pies, cakes, and cupcakes. Not to mention the carts full of food for the meal. I do not regret getting my surgery on the 15th, but I am experiencing a sharp burning pain to the left of my belly button and I am afraid I wont be able to go Black Friday shopping! I know how shallow that sounds, but since I dont really have any family near me or parents who have passed, I have really focused my excitements on Black Fridays. But now I may have to give this up this year too! I had a mini cry fest today, now I'm just bummed. But can anyone confirm this deep burning sharp pain is normal? I did text my surgeon who said its because its the largest incision and takes time to heal. I lifted my chubby frenchie to give him a bath and I'm afraid I may have pulled or torn something! Anyway thanks for reading my multi vent!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. God Bless

Feeling sad today
Geri Marie replied to Geri Marie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is why I love this site. I dont feel alone when I find people like me! I am going to spend the day on my recliner smelling turkey cooking all day and sipping a protein shake. But I know that a year from now I will feel so much better! I mean who doesn't want to look better? But for me it was to feel better. I have had several back issues, knee issues and my blood pressure started to elevate. My mom passed away at 63 due to all her weight related issues. I am the thinnest one in my family at 234. I'm glad you get to start puréed foods tomorrow because you will start to feel normal somewhat. I'm going to quote my best friend when she said to me RELAX and HEAL. Take the time to let your body heal. Have a great thanksgiving and today I am most thankful for my friends here in this site, you. -
Breakfast i think I'll have a caramel protein shake. For the main dinner I'm going all out.....Cream of mushroom soup. Then later when I let all that settle I may splurge and have a sugar free vanilla pudding with nutmeg spice! Getting crazy up in my house!! Happy Turkery day to those who are NOT on full liquids [emoji849]

Emotional Rollercoaster
Geri Marie replied to melissaperault1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is a side effect maybe? I just sat here on the couch and cried over who knows what, and just kept crying because it felt good to get it out. *Sigh* -
It's a side effect from the Anesthesia I had them for 4 days so bad my teeth chattered lol.
-
I was told its because when you eat solid foods if you drink while you eat you will wash the foods down faster, thus you will not absorb the nutrition you need. I know this is true because I originally had the band and it didnt work because I did this exact thing. It also washes the food down fast and you are no longer full. But all this is only true once you get to the actual food stage. I am still on liquids so I'm drinking everything I can to stay hydrated when I can! Good luck all!!
-
My personal opinion is not for 4-6 months. Your body is having major surgery. I am currently stuck on a couch because i thought giving the dog a bath and doing laundry was ok 3 days after.....I felt so good....guess not

I had my surgery yesterday morning!! I feel great today. A little sore but so glad I went through it. He found a large hiatal hernia and a whole in my esophagus. But he patched me all up and I am doing great. Just waiting for my leak test, then I can go home!!
