JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
johock replied to dreamingsmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, the trick to staying focused and on track is being anally regimented. Lol. I eat the same thing for breakfast everyday, 7 large egg whites. Lunch is 8 ounces of zucchini boats. Dinner is 5-6 ounces of protein and 2-3 ounces of veggies. A Gallon of water every day. 3-4 protein shakes in between meals. And, I’m gonna start getting in some exercise, HOPEFULLY... At some point. Lol -
JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

I started my journey at 303 pounds. I was not doing good health wise. I was diagnosed with diabetes last year as well. My A1C was at 10. Since doing the surgery I’m down 103 pounds!!! I feel the best I’ve felt in over 20 years!!! My recent blood work has done a complete 180. Last A1C has me at 5 and all my other levels are perfect. Haven’t taken any diabetic meds since the surgery. So glad I decided to do this for myself and my family!!! -

I was sleeved on July 18. At the start of my journey I weighed in at 303. The morning of surgery I weighed 279. Today I weigh 230. I feel like a new man!!! I was diagnosed with diabetes late last year. From the second day post op I have been diabetes free and 100% OFF all meds!!! -
JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?

I should have explained it better. I'm not able to eat 8 ounces of solid foods. I was able to eat 7-8 ounces of puréed and soft food. When I eat solid food I can't eat more than 3-4 ounces. Sorry for the confusion. -
Hi all. Today makes 14 days post op sleeve surgery for me. I've been drinking the premade muscle milks and haven't had any problem with taste or keeping them down. That said, I'm trying to find a no sugar, no or low carb powder. Isopure was recommended to me by my doctor. So far I've tried the strawberry cream and the vanilla and both taste disgusting to me. I'm getting very bad stomach aches from it. I've also tried ISO 100, and I'm having the same reaction. Any recommendations. Thanks in advance

Got sleeved on July 18. Is it normal to always be starving and never satisfied after a meal? Tonight I ate 8 ounces of zucchini boats. Sliced in half zucchini scooped out then stuffed with turkey chop meat and the scooped out zucchini some spices and tomato sauce. I feel like I didn't eat anything that's how hungry I still feel. Is this normal at this point? Anyone else feeling like this or am I the only one?

Wow. I didn't know the reflux meds were taken that long. I have a follow up with my surgeon next week and need to write down some questions... Thank you so much for all the info!!
-
Thank you. Right now for the reflux I'm still taking the prescribed meds from the doc and I'm also taking 150mg of Zantac 150. I've been trying to not take the Zantac. I think I'm going to have to start taking them more regularly though and see if that helps. They do help a LOT when I take them.

Ok I didn't realize that there was such a big difference beaten puréed and solid foods and how they sit in your stomach. I just thought food was food and whatever the amount you're taking in will have the same effects. So I guess when I start on solid foods being that it'll take longer to go down I'll feel fuller quicker. Leading to no being able to eat as much as the puréed foods. And YES!!! I'm trying to learn the difference of head hunger and actual hunger. I'm used to just wolfing down my food as quickly as I could shovel it in. To the point of over stuffing myself at EVERY meal!!!! LOL

Thanks for the replies. My exercise as of now has only been walking. I try to walk between 3-5 miles at least 5 days if I could. Exercise is a bit of a challenge with 2 young kids that play travel sports and adding in work and family life. I know we all have things going on. As I started feeling the need to eat more and feeling hungrier, I did contact the surgeon. The nutritionist called me and said that it was normal to eat anywhere from 4-8 ounces per meal. I was very concerned with the amount I was consuming and that's why I called. I can say this, I have not eaten any solid food as of yet. It's wall been either scrambled eggs, or the zucchini boats which are very soft and mushy stuffed with turkey chop meat. I have followed everything my surgeon told me, 2 weeks post surgery of clear liquids and protein shakes, then onto puréed foods. And I'm still not eating solid food yet.

I should have added I'm male too. I'm just finding it so hard to eat a meal and feel satisfied with anything I eat. I'm try to stick to 3 meals per day and 2 protein shakes per day. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong. This is just so frustrating and I feel that that only reason I've lost any weight is because I've been starving myself from 2 weeks prior to surgery. -Joe

JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
johock replied to dreamingsmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if I've had a stall or if I'm in one right now. I don't get on the scale all that often. I try to stay off of it as much as possible. My surgery was 7-18. I was 303 at the very start of my journey. Weight the day of surgery was 279 and right now I'm at 255. Happy would be the understatement of the year!!! My biggest concern is that I'm able to eat 8 ounces at every meal, 3 a day. I'm afraid that at some point it'll go up and I'll stretch out my pouch. Anyone else eating this much at this point after their surgery? To me it seems as if everyone eats a few mouthfuls at each meal and they're stuffed. Am I worrying about nothing? I could use some reassurance here. LOL Thanks, Joe -

Thanks for the advice. It's funny over the last several days, all of a sudden I find I can't eat as much as I was. And I'm no longer hungry right after eating like I was. I have started to concentrate on chewing each bite at least 25 times. I also use the timer feature on my phone and time 30 seconds between bites. LOL -

Thank you for that advice!!! I am definitely getting the bulk of my protein via shakes. I'm having a hard finding puréed foods to eat to get more protein. This morning I had 4 scrambled egg whites. An hour later I had a protein shake. About an hour later I had a fat free jello, but that only had 1 gram of protein. For lunch I had about 4 ounces of chicken salad. Got any suggestions of how I can get more protein from foods? Not sure if I like cottage cheese. Never tried it. LOL -

Actually, not enough. The muscle milk says 32g of protein per serving but that's only if you use 2 scoops, I didn't know that until I double checked. I am doing only 1. So today I'm going to have 4 protein shakes to make sure I get enough. As for water, I drink a minimum of 4 16 oz bottles but try to drink even more than that if I can. -

Hi. No nothing to drink 30 minutes before I eat. And nothing to drink until an hour after I eat. I slowed the fork down drastically today, 30 seconds between bites timed with my phone. LOL It helped a LOT. Still feeling a little hungry after eating but not starving like I was yesterday. -

Should increase my meals throughout the day? I'm eating. Only breakfast lunch and dinner and 2 protein shakes for the day. Could this be the problem of why I'm eating a lot at each meal and still feeling hungry? -

I spoke to my nutritionist the other day and told her I was eating 4 ounces and still very hungry. She told me I could eat anywhere from 4-8 ounces. I bumped it up to 8 and still haven't felt full after a meal. -
Is that really all it is? Just a phase and the starvation I'm feeling will subside? Oh I hope because it's really starting to depress me. I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better and passed it.

Mine was the 18. I'm MISERABLE. I'm eating 8oz of food per meal and I'm starving all day long. Down 40 pounds from the start of this whole ordeal but let's face it, the weight came off because I starved myself for 4 weeks. So not a happy camper right now and second guessing even doing the surgery. What's the point if I have to go the rest of my life starving and feeling like this. I have the same starving feeling after I eat that I had before I eat!! -
I'm starting to question this whole thing... I feel like the only reason I had any weight loss is because I starved myself for 4 weeks.
-
So glad I found this post. I was sleeved July 18 and just started puréed foods. I eat 8 ounces and I'm still starving with my stomach doing flips. I was under the impression that I'd be taking 4-5 bites and be full. I'm so hoping these hunger feeling and craving start to diminish. I thought I was the only one dealing with this.
-
So I'm 2 weeks post-op and finally allowed to try some soft eggs and puréed food. Tried making egg white egg beaters with no fat cheddar cheese. Measured out to 4 ounces. Cooked it up. THOUGHT I was eating slow and taking small bites... then all of a sudden I got a bad pain in the middle of my chest and felt like I was going to throw up. It was the worst feeling. What the hell did I do wrong?? Now I'm scared to try and eat again!! LOL. What do I do? -Joe
