Worried I haven't lost enough preop?
sgkcmorgan replied to Supernovae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 10 pounds on the 2 week preop diet. I followed the instructions of lowering my carbs (or so I thought), I didn't realize there were carbs in tomatoes! Once I realized it, I adjusted right away so my liver could be reduced for the surgery. I am concerned for you that you could not follow it though because it gets harder after surgery. I am on the liquid phase now and it totally sucks! I have had enough of broth and jello. I feel pretty good since my surgery and this is day 5. I haven't had any pain meds since the evening of my surgery and my nurses called me superwoman. I think this has helped with my recovery. Good luck with your surgery but be prepared because you will be limited and it isn't easy! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using BariatricPal mobile app -
So my surgery is Friday and I am freaking nervous. I have watched so many YouTube videos about the first day and I am scared of having so much pain and feeling nauseous. This is what's giving me cold feet. I don't like pain and I don't like feeling sick to my stomach! I know it's the best thing for me to do as I have made several attempts to lose weight and nothing has worked. I want to be healthy, I want to eat right but a part of me is scared to go through this procedure. I know it will be worth it in the long run and I am excited for what the results will be, but I hate hospitals and it is freaking me out. Is this normal? Did anyone else have these feelings? Ok, so I did it and this is day 3, feeling pretty good. I had my gallbladder removed and hiatel hernia repaired along with being sleeved. No complications, just feeling sore around my belly button but otherwise in good spirits. I have had jello and broth with no issues. So far so good and being discharged at 1pm. Yeah! I am so nervous. Strange how everyone asks you if you are excited- gee I am just having 2/3 of my stomach removed, I wouldn't say excited is the word but more like anxious and nervous. I guess they ask about being excited because they know that I will lose weight. I am 48 yrs old, 5'8" and weigh 283. I have always been heavy but I carry it well. I am looking forward to living a life as the "real" me. The person who wants to go zip lining but is too heavy, that loves amusement rides but is fearful the safety harness will not hold due to weight. The person that can board a plane and not stress over the seat belt not fitting or being placed in the middle seat. A person who can wear shorts and sleeveless shirts in public and not be embarrassed. The person who's knees are in agony because of so much weight. I'm excited to be that person, so maybe I am actually a little excited but I am the type that has to see it to believe it. I know I will be that person someday but the reality has not kicked in. I look forward to the journey I am about to take and would like to get to know others on that same journey. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using BariatricPal mobile app
