How are people losing 10lbs/month?!
sleevedshereen replied to sleevedshereen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@jmar23 I also need to put in more time to cardio and exercise...i'm not really being active right now...my days are like 13 hour days by the time I get home from work and then I have school work so I'm just always drained and exhausted...I need to spend more time on exercise and increasing protein and water intake. -

How are people losing 10lbs/month?!
sleevedshereen replied to sleevedshereen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@jmar23 Thanks for the comment. I don't know how to measure myself and can tell I've already lost a lot in inches everywhere..wish I measured myself prior and currently... I'm just nervous that the weight won't come off and i'm doing something wrong. I can barely even eat so I feel like I don't get in enough protein calories or water. I'm trying really hard but we'll see what happens. -

@Introversion that is such a relief to hear...what is your usual diet like/what do you usually eat in a day? I feel like i'm not getting enough calories in and that may be affecting me... -
Falling back into emotional eating
sleevedshereen replied to cantseemytoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@cantseemytoesI've been finding myself emotionally eating as well. Also, I find that when I'm losing weight...like I deserve to eat bad as a reward and that is terrible...I'm working on it. If I lose weight I tell my boyfriend "let's go out and celebrate" like that's sooo bad. I'm in a similar situation to you. Dealing with stress of work, school and relationships have caused me to want to revert back to eating for coping and it's super tough. I can totally relate to you. Someone told me that I should remind myself how much I spent on this surgery and how I felt before the surgery....why do we want to go back to that? I think mind over matter and we just have to be stronger and not let things that hurt us cause us to hurt ourselves by over indulging and eating bad again. -
@akaet super close! I'm in Woodland Hills/ Where did you do your surgery?

Stalls, stalls, stalls
sleevedshereen replied to bcl1628's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@jmar I'm just feeling discouraged because I'm only a little over a month out from surgery and I see people talking about losing 4 lbs a week and i'm stuck in a stall of almost 3 weeks. I'm just scared i'm not gonna lose weight...like what if it doesn't come off...what if i'm done. It just seems abnormal that i'm not losing weight and people are having it melt off each week. -
Oh ok. I work in Culver City area. I had mine at Marina Del Rey Hospital. I remember once I got my date of surgery....I couldn't focus on anything else. The surgery was all I could think about I was so excited. lol @1n0nlyJoe
-
@1n0nlyJoe how exciting! Where are you having your surgery done?
-
TELL ME ABOUT IT! I was in a stall for 3 weeks. It broke this weekend but then yesterday I weighed myself and I gained a lb. I guess i'm not gonna start losing lol. I'm extremely frustrated and stressed that I haven't lost in WEEKS. Maybe in your case you're building muscle and toning up and that's why the scale isn't changing. I'm sure your body is changing and you're looking better and better each week. I wouldn't focus too much on the scale. rather focus on how you feel about yourself and are you happy with how you look and embrace it. The scale will move eventually. Good luck! and how exciting! YOU"RE GETTING MARRIED! WOO HOO

Anyone else having trouble trying to intake their liquids
sleevedshereen replied to torriqurll's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I realized I wasn't drinking enough because I was laying down most of the time. Sit up, and hold the bottle in your hand, every few seconds, take a sip. I lived on water, vitamin water zero, diet snapple and broth the first week. Day 2 I started introducing protein shakes. I had one protein shake a day. Focus on liquids only right now. You don't want to get dehydrated. My surgeon told me the entire first month, don't worry about your protein intake, focus on getting those liquids in. I was on a liquid diet for 3 weeks post op. -
Ok, so I'm barely 199.5 but I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY!!! Seeing this number on the scale made me realize I do not want to gain again! I just want to keep losing from here! My stall has finally broke and I Just want to continue the weight loss! Feeling motivated. Today's gonna be a good day!

STALL BROKEN! HELLO ONEDERLAND
sleevedshereen replied to sleevedshereen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@JillyT - Thank you!! Actually someone on here recommended to just let loose a little and not focus so much on my stall (which was over 2 weeks long...if not 3 actually)...so I kind of cheated a little this weekend but also went on a hike and bowled and just enjoyed myself and from Friday to today....I lost like 2.5 lbs and hopefully my stall is officially broken. If not, I'll probably cry but this was a small victory! You can do it too! You've got this! -

Maybe you had heat exhaustion. When you work in a hot environment and your body can't cool itself down properly it can cause dehydration, nausea and vomiting. How are you feeling today? -
Hiatal Hernia! Help please!
sleevedshereen replied to She_red_dee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In my personal experience, I did the sleeve with a hiatal hernia repair. Before the surgery, I had excruciating heart burn all hours of the day and nausea all the time as well as shortness of breathe. I developed ulcers due to the hiatal hernia as well. Since surgery and the hiatal hernia repair, I have not had a day of heart burn. It's pretty amazing. This might be a rarity though because I've read on here that it could be worse but in my personal experience, I seem/feel cured. -

sleevedshereen replied to batistaselenia's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh yeah! I just realized that you had bypass and not the sleeve! That does make a difference! At the top right corner where your username and pic is, click the down button, then click "My Surgery" and then on the side it says Progress. Click that and you can change your current weight @MauiLolly -

That's crazy that you are dropping that much weight! Congrats. -
Oh that's awesome! I'm in Human Resources For my VSG I took 2 weeks off. Went back to work after 1 week but didn't have much energy so I took an extra week off. I think 2.5-3 weeks would have been ideal but being gone 3 weeks doesn't look good lol luckily you're self employed though! @CJ Sunshine
-
Drink 2 bottles of magnesium citrate and do an enema. I dropped 7 lbs the night before surgery when I did that for my cleanse lol jk I don't recommend that. I think cutting calories and exercising would help. But honestly, don't do anything dangerous or drastic just to get that date of surgery...you could always postpone surgery for the week after or two weeks later so you can lose 6 lbs the right way.
-
@CJ Sunshine yup! lol I definitely slacked off before surgery at work....was super distracted with planning every detail of surgery and after surgery. This is a huge deal that you're making this decision and going through with it...as long as you texted them or reached out this week you're fine! How long are you going to take off of work?
