    How are people losing 10lbs/month?!

I've lost 32 lbs since surgery. The 14th makes 2 months post op. I think i'm doing pretty well. I was super frustrated and stuck in a 3 week stall at the time I wrote that. It's slowly coming off. I don't have a nutritionist but I do know I need to be better about getting more protein in and drinking more fluids and walking. @cuzzy623

    Honest about the struggle

google 3rd week stall vsg and I promise you soooo many of us have had it! It's sooo stressful and disheartening but it breaks. My three week stall lasted for 3 weeks. I was 203 for 3 weeks, then ate kind of bad one weekend and had a lot of sex and boom...stall broken I was 199. I kept bouncing between 201 and 199 and stayed there for like two weeks, went to the lake for labor day, came back and I was 196.6 or something. It was awesome. I'm two months post op and see people posting like "average weight loss 7-10lbs a month" and i'm nowhere near that and it makes me feel crappy but I'm just a slow loser and I can't remember a time where I ever lost 32 lbs or even in 2 months! First month was rough for me too but I'd say around week 5 and 6 it got a little better. I'm still adjusting my eating habits and eating slower and chewing more and I definitely don't drink as much water as I should. I need to be way better quite honestly. I don't count or measure what I eat...I should. I"m sure if I did all these things, my weight loss would be more but I'm doing what makes me happy. It will get better as cliche as that sounds!

@Allie589 the insomnia goes away. You're body is just adjusting to everything. From what I read, it's because your sugar levels are low and you're body produces this hormone called ketones when you're body is like depleted of sugar and it gives you energy...putting you're body in ketosis (this causes the insomnia). I dealt with insomnia for the first 3-4 weeks because I was on a liquid diet. Once I started introducing foods into my body, it went away.

lol @Walter.Sobchak a week is too soon! I was still holding my abdomen two weeks out while walking because I was still healing and sore! Tell her to cool her jets and wait a couple weeks! It's super hard to be intimate and close after surgery...I couldn't cuddle or sleep on my side with my boyfriend until 3+ weeks after surgery. I had insomnia and could only take naps on my back. Getting in and out of bed was a painful chore the first few weeks. Good luck!!! Don't rush it lol

I waited til 3 weeks. Incisions were still a little sore but I just put a pillow under my tummy for the first time. First time after surgery wasn't good (I felt like I was losing my virginity all over again - I wasn't able to get lubricated...) Our hormones are all crazy and our estrogen levels are going crazy too...I also wasn't in the mood. My sex drive was low. Second time after surgery though...it was amazing. I guess the first time was just awkward because it had been like a month since I'd had sex and we were worried about the incisions and surgery and all that stuff. But it's been great since! lol

    Opinions?

@Waler you make a good point.

    Opinions?

I'm going to be extremely extremely honest here. This is actually going to be really hard for me to say. I think the weight loss surgery can change the relationship in both good and bad ways. I've seen/heard a lot of people break up or get divorced after the surgery and I wondered why. I'm only 2 months post op and having relationship issues and I'm starting to have an epiphany. Do I love my boyfriend? YES. However, now that i'm losing the weight and gaining my confidence back...sometimes I ask myself, was I settling for less than what I deserve because I didn't think I could find better? Did I let my weight and my body determine how I should be loved for the last three years and accept things I didn't deserve in the relationship because I thought I was not worthy of better love because, who would want me? My boyfriend thinks I will leave him once I get thinner. I had a friend who had the surgery years before me and told me "don't let a man keep you fat to keep you around". So when my boyfriend tells me I don't need to lose more weight, her words come into my mind...maybe he wants me bigger so that I don't leave...My hormones are also going crazy right now since surgery and I'm emotional and crazy some days and we fight so hard that i'm just emotional drained and exhausted and don't have the energy to fight for my relationship some days. On the other hand, this surgery has done some good for my relationship as well. Each time my boyfriend notices my body is changing and I'm getting a little smaller, the way he looks at me...with pride, and love and appreciation and always tells me how beautiful I am and am becoming...it makes me happy. He saw my strength after surgery and how brave I was. I think he's falling in love with me even deeper than before after my weight loss surgery, however, I don't know if I can say the same. There's days where we are so connected and I am so freaking in love with the man, and then there's other days where I feel like walking away. There were issues before the surgery but I think i'm now opening up my eyes as I'm coming into my new skin and just don't want to accept the sh*tty things for the rest of my life. We deserve happiness. We deserve unconditional love. We deserve the absolute best. Our sizes shouldn't determine the size of happiness we think we should get.

    2 months after sleeve

Don't be discouraged. I'll be 2 months post op in 2 weeks...so far i've lost 32 lbs. I'm a slow loser but I see my waist getting smaller, stomach going down and I'm feeling more confident. Just because the scale isn't moving doesn't mean i'm not trimming down. I'm just taking it one day at a time and know it will come off even if it's slow.

    Pain not going away

I had the sleeve and hiatal hernia repair...I didn't start feeling normal and back to myself til week 3-4. The first two weeks recovery wise/pain wise were rough. I cried with regret a few times but it gets better as cliche as that sounds! I'm almost 2 months post op and 32 lbs down.
  12. I had a hiatal hernia repair along with my gastric sleeve surgery. After the first 3 weeks I was good. I would say fully back to myself after 4-5 weeks. Pain was bad for me the first week and each week got better.

    Having second thoughts

The way I think of it....there had been times where I've lost the weight on my own. But I could never keep it off. I would lose the weight and once I did, I thought "well I can eat whatever I want now since I lost some weight"...and not only did I gain the weight back, I gained MORE. It was a constant roller coaster of my weight fluctuating. I got to my highest weight I have ever been and felt like I couldn't do it on my own. That the weight was just too much to lose on my own this time. I was too lazy and lacked the motivation to want to lose the weight. This surgery has helped me tremendously and I have hope that it will help me keep the weight off in the future. Next week makes 2 months since my surgery and I've lost a little over 31 lbs.

To Pho or Not To Pho....

Idk honestly the way I look at it...if you have self control and don't indulge in these foods all the time, then it's OK to enjoy yourself and eat pho if you want to PHO SHO lol I'd be super unhappy if I couldn't eat things that I wanted to once in a while.

    I regret this surgery

It gets better! I know that sounds so cliche but I JUST started to feel better about the surgery and I'm 7 weeks post op. I was having a hard time adjusting and still do some days. It sucks not being able to go out and eat like before. I've had some cheat days since surgery though. You will be able to eat the foods you enjoy just not yet. They tell you not to because they aren't the healthiest choices, but you can eat them. I just eat in moderation. Also, I can't even eat much. Let's put it this way...before surgery I could go to McDonald's and get a 10 piece nugget meal large with fries and a coke AND a quarter pound burger and eat it all....f**king terrible right? Now, I can't even finish 4 chicken nuggets (a happy meal). While I probably shouldn't be eating this...it's not like I'm eating like I did before. My fam has made spaghetti and I can only eat a few bites and a couple meatballs and i'm full. So yeah, I get to eat normal things just not much of it. And for anyone who is reading this thinking i'm terrible...oh well. Not all of us are perfect patients. Point is...I don't indulge like I did before...like I was sooo bad before surgery. I'm also not saying to create these bad habits and eat bad all the time, but now and again...you can enjoy yourself. If I couldn't eat certain things for the rest of my life...it would freaking suck. Also, my mom brought up a good point to me when I felt regretful after surgery. "Well you've done it honey, and you can't change it or go back. so all you can do is make the best of it now".

Maybe that explains why I was a crazy, emotional b***h to my boyfriend the last couple weeks...low carb diet...lmao

    realistic time off work

I am in HR so I sit at a desk most of the day. I took off 1 week initially and wasn't ready to come back. I came back for half a day and had no energy and my incisions were still hurting. I was holding my abdomen while I walked. I took another week off. 2 weeks was enough. If i had it my way, I would've loved 3 weeks off to be fully 100 and get into a habit for myself but I couldn't take off that much time with the work I do...

    How are people losing 10lbs/month?!

@Berry78 thanks for the comment! Makes me feel better! People tell me I look thinner. I think I'm slimming down a little...just frustrating when the weight doesn't reflect it. I guess I'll just be patient and also accept the fact that my weight loss will be a slow one. @nativenm congrats on your success! that's so exciting! I need to focus on my protein too. @coyote I have PCOS too. Maybe that's playing a part in it but I also know that my water and protein are not where they need to be. We got this though. Slowly but surely. I'll follow up with you too! @Bodhi Tree i'll have to read it.

    How are people losing 10lbs/month?!

@joann454, what is your diet like a day? and your exercise routine? i'm just not losing anything since like 2 weeks post surgery and so it's been minimum 3 weeks with no weight loss. It just really sucks...
