Dating with the fat girl still on the inside...
sleevedshereen replied to ReddGypsy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@ReddGypsy hey girl. I think it's like this with every girl...guys don't take girls on dates anymore. It's now a "would you be down to hang out sometime" not "would you like to go on a date with me". It's as if they weren't taught how to treat a woman. Also, in this day and age, guys don't seem to want relationships...they just want a steady, casual hook up. UGH. I was doing the whole dating app thing while on a break from my relationship last year and I freaking hated it. I got back together with my boyfriend but man...it's rough out there... As for what you said about not knowing what size you are...I SOOOOO FEEL YOU on that! Some days i'm like damn I look good, my waist looks smaller, I feel like I look way smaller than what I weigh, but then I ordered an XL dress nervous as to how a L would fit in straight sizes and the XL fit me perfectly and I thought I was dumb for thinking I was already a Large in dresses. Sizing is different at certain stores though because I wear large shirts but ya...somedays i'm like am I obese, fat, thick? lol it's tough...it's hard to play that mind game in your head. It really messes with you/your confidence sometimes. -

Finally on the losers bench
sleevedshereen replied to CharnelleSK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 2-3 weeks is the hardest. DON'T LOSE FAITH. You're going to have moments where you cry in regret when you miss food or when you're in pain, but IT GETS BETTER! You're going to be soooo happy with the journey you are about to take and when you look back 1 month, or 2 months post surgery, you're going to be so proud of the person you are becoming and notice you are much stronger than you thought you were. Good luck! -
I drove a week later.

Surgery didn’t work?
sleevedshereen replied to Lacecute's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've lost 30 lbs in two months? How is that not a lot? You also didn't start out with that high of a starting weight...I'm a slow loser too. I haven't lost in like a week or two and I've just learned not too stress about it too much. I had my surgery three and a half months ago and have lost 41lbs in total but only 34 since surgery. But that's about an average of 11 and a half pounds a month...which is great. I would be a little easier on yourself. -

@LiciKitty Honestly, I've been on both ends of the spectrum. 2013-2014 I weighed 145-150 and I thought I looked too skinny but that was technically slightly overweight for my height. I personally think I'd be happy at 155-160. I like my curves and don't want to lose my tits and ass lol I feel sexy when I have some curves. Also, I'm about 186-187 now but I Love myself more now than I did at 145. I Had maaaaajorrrr body issues when I was around 145. I'm starting to love myself more and more as I lose and I honestly think I'd be happy at 160, but I know I need to be around 145-150 to be healthier. I also don't think that everyone should go by a chart and judge what is healthy and what isn't because everyone's bodies look totally different. I'm 186 but people think I weigh 165 right now because of the way it's proportioned...I could look totally different than another woman who weighs 186 as well. It's really about your happiness and where you're happy with what's on the scale and what's in the mirror. Other people's perception of you isn't as important as your own. Who cares if you're not thick? That doesn't define beauty. It's really crazy that body types like Kim Kardashian or Nicki Minaj have become the definition of beauty or perfect body. Like normal women aren't made like that and alllllll these women are striving for a body like that or think that that is beauty when really, they didn't even come like that...LOL It's actually really sad that the Kardashians and Jenners have made such an influence in society that they just did a study and said because of them, they have completely made plastic surgery normalized in society and girls that are 16 all the way through their early twenties think that they need plastic surgery in order to achieve a look like those families. It's crazy that soooo many young women would want to look like other people rather than embracing their natural beauty JUST DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY. DO YOU BOO! lol

Hi Everyone! So I was thinking today, woah, without going out to eat all the time, and since I can't eat much...food is not a hobby lol. Then I thought, what do I do that's considered a hobby? And then I had another thought of "Oh my God I'm such a loser! I HAVE NO HOBBIES?" I'm always doing what everyone else wants to do and just going with the flow to make others happy but what am I doing to make myself happy? Getting my nails done and shopping are not hobbies lol. Any ideas? I used to love DIYing stuff and fixing things up but then I started hoarding things and spending wayyyy too much just to refurbish things as a hobby lol I'm also the type of person that is extremely lazy and bad at sticking to things so things like knitting and hiking or spinning classes sound super unappealing. I was thinking about a dance class, but by the time I get home from work its like 7pm and it's just not realistic. I'm 25 and live in Los Angeles. Any ideas for hobbies? Tell me what you all do as hobbies to keep busy and stay happy. Any suggestions are welcomed! lol

Anyone have gallbladder removed after VSG?
sleevedshereen posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've had two gallstone attacks. THE MOST PAINFUL EXPERIENCE THUS FAR. I see my surgeon tomorrow for my 3 month follow up to discuss getting my gallbladder taken out because I can't keep dealing with this pain. Some questions though... 1. How long were you out of work post-gallbladder removal surgery? 2. How are your scars? Did they get worse after VSG and gallbladder surgery or do they look the same as they did post VSG? 3. Recovery pain similar to VSG or worse? 4. Did you gain weight post gallbladder removal? Are you still gaining? How has it impacted you? Thanks in advance! -
FOR SURE lol I hold on to weight for like 2 weeks and then after I get my monthly gift, I lose like 4-5 lbs lol

Interesting that you edited your first comment. I just wanted to point out that it was insulting to call it hoe clothing or speak about how cheap it is. Again, that's insulting if these are stores women on this site shop at and all they maybe could afford. Also, this is supposed to be a place of empowerment and encouragement. Not a place to be inadvertently called a hoe.
-
@OutsideMatchInside was your post just to insult me? Firstly, I literally suggested all the stores you just put down like Charlotte Russe, Fashion Nova, and Old Navy. Secondly, you are insulting every woman that chooses to shop there and branding it as "hoe" clothing. I buy sweaters, scarves and sweats and basic shirts from Charlotte Russe, Fashion Nova and Old Navy that are actually great to wear, they are modest enough to wear to work and yes, they have great prices. Some of their clothing can be a little revealing, but that's for women who choose to wear that if they go out to clubs, or need a cocktail dress. There's nothing wrong with that. Not everyone can afford Torrid prices, and since we are changing sizes constantly, I offered places that are all over America and that are affordable. There's nothing wrong with shopping at those places. Does that make me a hoe for choosing to shop at these stores? Wow. You should really be more mindful before you speak. Not everyone wants to dress preppy or like Jackie O as that is your personal style. Charlotte Russe is very comparable to Torrid in "normal" sizes. Super rude.

Progress pic 2 and a half months out. 35 lbs down. i've dropped 2 pant sizes and even though I have a ways to go...The girl in the pic before surgery was sad, embarrassed, insecure...but now my confidence is climbing up again and I'm learning to love myself as I'm losing the weight. I've found that I'm not hiding. I put effort into how I present myself because I'm not worried about having to shop now. I'm so happy with my progress and how I'm practicing self love instead of self sabotage. This was yesterday and I was really feelin myself before I left for work. When you feel good about yourself, and love yourself, you have this light that shines and man people have been noticing the difference too. Hope you're all doing well on your journeys!

Not coping with lack of support
sleevedshereen replied to monkeyol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@monkeyol I had a similar experience, but once my family knew I was dead set on doing it, they knew they couldn't convince me otherwise. Luckily, you have the support of your husband and that is amazing. It took my boyfriend a while to finally get on board. Literally, it took me having the surgery to have his support. At the end of the day, you are doing this for YOU and nobody else. At the end of the day, this is about your health and happiness, not theirs. I spent my whole life making sure everyone else was happy and doing what everyone else wanted, but I"m doing what makes me happy now and being a little more selfish. Either you get on board for the ride or get out of my way. lol good luck to you! <3 -
Preexisting GERD and Gastric Sleeve?
sleevedshereen replied to Codedsub's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@codequeryI had GERD before surgery. They make you do an endoscopy prior to getting the sleeve and they said that I had a hiatal hernia and my GERD had been so bad prior to surgery and along with stress, I had a lot of ulcers. Basically the way they described the hiatal hernia to me was that my stomach was pushing up into my diaphragm up into my esophogas and that was what was causing my heart burn and nausea and pain all the time. I had a hiatal hernia repair during surgery and I rarelyyyyy get heartburn now. It was terrible before surgery and now I feel so much better. I hear some people say it gets worse, but maybe in my case since they did the hernia repair, it resolved my issue. @JeffN looks like we had similar issues lol -
I shop a lot with Charlotte Russe and Old Navy. Those are my go to's. Occassionally I shop online on Fashion Nova but I really love Charlotte Russe in store and online as well as Old Navy. I also shop at place called Q and Windsor but I'm not sure if they have those stores near you...
-
@MG1776yeah Idk it was just sooo painful sleeping on my stomach until 3 weeks post op - I'm not a back sleeper so I struggled with sleep for the first month and I also had insomnia after surgery until my body adjusted to the diet.
-
I couldn't sleep on my side or stomach til like 3 weeks out. I felt this pulling sensation as if my sutures were gonna rip or something earlier than 3 weeks post op. With ease and no pain or discomfort, 3 weeks out.
