  1. I have Unjury chicken flavor. I also use Genepro (unflavored) and I have mixed that with beef consume. You can't heat it to hot, but using tempering it gets hot enough. I am on day two of 10 of the pre-op diet, and so far it has not been as bad as I expected. Hoping that continues! [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Not telling Mom/some others....opinions

I had another serious health issue crop up (now thankfully resloved) and that necessitatated putting off my initial WLS assessments. I told my husband when he was accompanying me to an appointment for the other health issue. I knew they would bring up the scheduled bariatric evaluations. Hubby is reasonably supportive, and worried about complications. I have told my children. They are older teens. They are living at home. They are supportive. I have told no one else! And, I don't want to. I made the decision for myself and my health. I never appreciated anyone commenting on my weight or what I was eating before this, and I don't want to hear other's opinions now. Many members of my family have struggled with their weight. Some have successfully lost weight for a while... I think they would "try" to be supportive, but I think I would quickly become annoyed. Additionally, I don't want this to be a regular topic of discussion. If a family member or friend is considering WLS, then I would tell them. I don't consider it a secret - just private. If there are major complications, then people will need to know. However, I believe that all will go reasonably well. If in the future one of my kids had surgery without telling me, then I would be upset. Also, we have asked the kids not to tell people. Those are the only two things give me pause about my decision to keep the WLS private. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    August Sleevers ?!

I am August 11th too! Just started the pre-op diet today. Only liquid protien and no cal/ low cal beverages. National Night Out with a neighborhood potluck is this evening, and I am not looking forward to no cocktails or snacks while people near me are raving about the food. [emoji86] The kids (teens) did a great job handling their own breakfast, lunch, and prepping the dish for the potluck... so more independence will hopefully be a positive side-benefit. We will see how they are doing in 10 days. [emoji12] Sending positive vibes to everyone! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Worried??

I have read a few threads about people who have had very slow weight loss. My surgery is on 8/11. I am quite concerned about age being a factor in slow weight loss or only losing a small % of the excess weight. I was not concerned about this prior to reading the threads. My previous biggest concern was long term maintenance. This may just be pre-surgery jitters... but now I feel very nervous about it. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    August 11th...

My surgery is coming up quickly. I start the pre-op liquid protien diet on the first. I am dreading the liquid diet pre-op diet. Have you started the liquid diet yet? How is it going? I did not have a required pre-op diet leading up to this - so I feel like this is going to be extra hard. I have tried various protein drinks, I have stocked up, so I am ready... just worried that this phase will be very difficult. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    August 11th...

Thanks Linda! It makes sense that it will get better. I have been trying to prepare my hubby and kiddos (teens) for the changes ahead. I still think it will be hard for all of us at first. I appreciate your encouragement! Also, I wish the best for you in your upcoming surgery! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
