Surgery without telling anyone?
changingforme replied to lynnedilligaf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is exactly why I told nearly no one as well. This was not an easy choice or a cheat and to demean me that way is wrong. So I chose to tell only a few people that I knew wouldn't give me grief. What challenges me, changes me -
Mine was the day after you. It can't wait for the gas discomfort to go away. That and I am quite tired. Hoping it'll all ease up soon. What challenges me, changes me

Looking for a buddy/mentor in the Long Beach CA area
changingforme replied to Emailkariann's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in the south OC area. Was just sleeved on the 15th. What challenges me, changes me -
I have my surgery the 15th and am nervous, excited and scared. I've told very, very few people what I am doing as I feel it's a private decision that I made for me. My husband is supportive but he is against the surgery, only because it is a surgery and he HATES risk especially to those he loves. This has made it difficult as I really do not have people near me I can just chat with. Then on top of my natural nerves there was an error, clerical, on my authorization from my insurance so I had a major flip out today trying to get it corrected. Thankfully, my doctor's authorization personnel are amazing and talked me down and assured me they would have it corrected in time for the surgery... but part of me worries it's a sign I shouldn't do the surgery. Dumb, as I am not superstitious, but still the thought lurks. I think I'll feel better once I get the call letting me know the issue is corrected and after the surgery. Did anyone else feel similar, especially without a group of people to be your support system?

Sleeve is done...now living in fear :(

It's better to be safe and feel foolish than have a potentially fatal issue because you didn't get it checked. -
A little bummed out...
changingforme replied to sox1210's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What else did the doctor say though? It may be that at whatever your weight was it is "normal" to be down more. It just may mean keeping a food diary to show your doctor in case tweaks need to be made. I don't think the doctor was necessarily shaming you but was more stating what they considered to be medically average and it may mean for them to be aware if you are having any difficulties, vitamin deficiencies or depression. I would recommend speaking with your doctor regarding what they meant by their statement and how it made you feel. -
It's easy to understand why there are more horror stories online than not... same reason you ca find more negative yelp reveiws than not. People like to discuss, announce, complain, and/or make others aware of a negative situation/outcome than those who had a good one. It is viewed as beneficial to warn others but bragging if you "overly discuss" something good. For good outcomes you need not only the basic Internet but areas such as this dedicated to bariatric surgery, and doctors should be able to provide patient references as well as rating found with medical sites

Wolff-Parkinson White?
changingforme replied to Sarah224's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have WPW but I do have Long Qt Syndrome which is also an electrical conductive disorder of the heart. I am schedule for the sleeve in August and my EP supports my decision. I have had several surgeries that require anesthesia over my life so far and have never had a severe issue. -
