Food Before and After Photos
FluffyChix replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes! So well-stated and a huge paradigm shift! Switching to "nutrient dense" foods with small footprints (in the early days)--then having to reformat your brain as your tool matures and you can suddenly "hold" more volume in your pouch. Those 2 transitions are easy to get lost within--you know? Like especially if you aren't expecting the shift back to where you can eat more food, you're mostly already in a food/diet fatigue state, so you start making poor choices with crap food and slider treats and miss the opportunity to go back towards a WW or Skinnytaste style of recipe unless you built your new habits from the beginning! -
Doctor’s Appt Tomorrow But...
FluffyChix replied to RoseQuartz56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to your appointment. That same thing happened to me. They said that's their job--to see sick people and they may want to give you meds. ((hugs)) Feel better soon!!! -
Ha! I was gonna say this exact thing! Sorry you're having trouble!!! Go get your tests!! ((hugs)) And go back to liquids on the days you upchuck. You should do that for a couple days after you have an issue. It gives a little time to heal the immediate inflammation. I love the Premier Protein Clear drinks (Fruit Punch is the bomb dot com when diluted 50:50 with bottled water and goes down every easy.)

Everything for the next 6-12months while in deep losing mode should be eating to tolerate and fuel your body and losses. There will be time enough for living the rest of your life with appealing food that smells and tastes good to you. And yep, it's very common to experience this. I think it has to do with ketosis and the acetoacetoacetate that is a by-product of lipolysis (fat burning). It is a type of "vinegar" or weak acid and changes smell and taste. Drink lots of water and it will help!!! Heal well!!

Bon chance! You'll do great. I know there is fear and anxiety but reign in the brain and focus (laser focus) on "how easy breezy lemon squeezy" it's gonna be. Walk walk walk. Sip sip sip!

Quick question about best way to freeze 1/2 remaining roast chicken breast
FluffyChix replied to KarenLR75's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I just either pull it into chunks or cube it and freeze it on a plate lined with plastic wrap. Then I shove it into a freezer zip lock, date and label. That way, I can dive into it for a bite or two or an ounce at a time, whatevs. Works great for making compound dishes or for adding protein to a roasted or sauteed veg. I do this all the time with grilled meat of all kinds, and I also keep boiled shrimp in the freezer. I even do this with grilled salmon! It doesn't stick around long enough to need vacuum sealing. It really cuts down on cook time. -

Anxiety and head hunger are killing me
FluffyChix replied to KT1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The hormone shift is brutal hon. ((hugs)) In the meantime, make super sure you are hydrated. You might look at a couple tools. Just google them or YouTube them: EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) that incorporates tapping. Four Square Breathing (helps reduce killah anxiety) Also see if you can maybe start taking a magnesium citrate supplement and see if that helps calm you a bit? Sorry you are struggling!!! -

Diarrhea and work
FluffyChix replied to Sharon B A's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Where gloves when cooking as well. ((hugs)) So sorry you are dealing with this!!! -
When pressed, your surgeon will give you some type of "vague" target. But you may have to push them to answer you. It's based on a specific equation that the insurance companies and COE program and ASMBS require from them. But I agree with @GreenTealael, you will know when it's right for you. The BMI chart works for some and not others...don't sweat it.

Awww dang! I'm so sorry to hear this!!! Take all your meds and clean like crazy. It's very contagious and you can relapse with it, so do your research on how to build your gut back up after treatment!!! ((hugs)) -

RNY Gastric Bypass revised to Distal
FluffyChix replied to thancock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of us who have RNY today, get the proximal surgery because of how extreme the distal is. It also carries more post surgical long term risk due to vitamin and mineral deficiencies that may only show up years down the road. So distal is a revision surgery (usually). Also, today, most super MO peeps get VSG as their 1 st surgery cuz the risk of surgery is less, quicker surgery, etc. Then they get revisions to either RNY or DS. Most go from VSG to DS (malabsorption element and VSG anatomy). -
The Thrill Is Gone
FluffyChix replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The good thing? Is that as you develop a great interest in living and eating healthy, and as you lose weight and become more and more active, you will find it hard to "sit" in front of the tv. Cuz you are gonna crave activity and people. It happens to a lot of us! We WANT to be more social. So you can develop new activities and interests. It's like coming back to life from a deep sleep and isolation. -
Freakish Restriction???
FluffyChix replied to KarenLR75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you able to get water in? At any temperature? Vary the temps. Can you get popsicles and ice chips in? It honestly sounds like your pouch is irritated and it may be complicated by dehydration. Dehydration makes you feel nausea especially after eating and makes things "sticky". So it sounds like you need to thin out your protein drinks. If possible, thin it out with FF Fairlife Milk, or decaff coffee or decaff warm tea. The peaches and cream and strawberries in cream are great in tea. The bananas and cream and chocolate are great in coffee. I also used the Premier Protein Clear flavors and made popsicles. But I honestly would not worry for the next couple of days about protein or advancing your diet. Worry about the hydration. If you're feeling hungry, drink more fluids! Do not advance your diet until you can readily take in 1-2oz of protein drink without feeling that tightness. But you MUST get your water in. If you are not doing that, then it's a trip to the ER for IV fluids and a call to your surgeon. It's possible you have a stricture--those usually occur anywhere from 3-12 weeks out in general if it's gonna happen as a result of the immediate surgical healing. Feel better soon! So sorry you're struggling! -
So sorry about the pneumonia!! Don't worry so much about the protein, just hydrate!! Make sure you are getting those fluids in!!! Also, "sneak" protein into your body in broths! Buy some bone broth (already made) and add in Isopure Unflavored protein powder. Or use the Protein 2O waters, or Premier Protein Clear (fruit punch or orange mango) diluted 50:50 with water. Vary the temps you drink your protein drinks at to maximize how much you can drink and also feel like it's breaking up the mucus in your lungs. When I have any kind of upper respiratory thing, I have to have lots of warm/hot liquids. You can also add peach and strawberry Premier Proteins to hot tea as a "creamer" and get some protein in that way--even 1-2ounces at a time, it adds up over the day. That way you are never "full" in the tummy area which makes it harder to feel like you get enough air. Heal quickly!!

EXCITED NERVOUS CURIOUS
FluffyChix replied to New&Improved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mikeyy, I'm totes confused dude. You've been posting like an authority on low carb. Please tell me why I'm shocked to learn you are still "on" sugar and "energy drinks"? Is that normally part of your RD's pre-op plan? I'd be nervous too! No way do I want to detox from those bears WHILE trying to comply with a 2 week pre-op liver shrinking liquid diet, nor would I want to do that during my immediate post-surgery days. It's like coming off of crack cocaine. Just wondering... -
Happy Taco Tuesday!!!
