The dreaded Weight loss Stall
FluffyChix replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

should i intervene?

But you don't know what **** show your call will set off. He has to be ready to make that change. It's heartbreaking, but true. You don't know if it will cause him to lose his insurance, the support of the clinic, his family support, his job, make him spiral deeper into denial, depression, addiction, divorce, loss of job, suicide attempt (which he is doing right now)...etc. We can't ever play God. It's just not our place. The best you can offer them is to pray for him to take action. -

I wouldn't. In the end it's his story and his decision. It's not your business. -
Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Here's one of my favorite soup versions. Instead of cream of chicken I sometimes use cream of poblano. I also add mexican spices to it. I can't do Alex's soups cuz of the soy in them. So I basically make my own version of it. I call this my Mexican Green Soup with Shrimp. Great topped with cilantro. Here it is if you use a little Fairlife milk in place of about 12oz of water. Makes about 2 cups of soup with lots of delish broth that's creamy but still brothy. -

*sigh. So the bad part about this "lie of omission" is that you get us all up on your side trying to figure things out on your behalf. By doing that, you guys set us up and waste our precious time and energy by leaving out a CRUCIAL little tidbit of the equation. GAH! Makes me so frustrated. I was taken more than a few times this past 2 weeks by newbies! You KNOWWWW your issue. Embarrassment be damned! Be real! Be real with yourself! Be real with your support network (us)! You CANNOT GAME THE SYSTEM! This is not magic bean surgery and a rhino will never be a unicorn! No one can game the system. Do not try to use your tool incorrectly. Don't use a screw driver to hammer in a nail! Use your tool properly and your tool with behave with proper and expected results. Sorry...but this is a major pet peeve. Bottom line. You don't need IF now. You need to get your food in proper order and quit eating slider, high reward, fattening crap like crackers. Protein is SUPPOSED to be difficult to eat right now. That's why they have you eating it first--to get as much in as you can while keeping and feeling like you want to keep your food volume down so your cals stay low and you lose weight quickly. -
Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

Yeah. It's frustrating when the rate of loss slows down. My advice would be to plan, weigh/measure, log every bite that goes down your piehole in MFP and see if you aren't absently eating more than you should or taking in secret unreported bites that blow your calorie goals. For me to lose I still have to be at 650-850cals. Anything around 800 and beyond I'm either maintaining or gaining depending on how carbalicious it is... -
Agreed. Normal.

If this is the case, then it's truly too early for you to do anything other than mild TRE (time restricted eating). You should only do IF if you have zero issues getting about 90% of your protein down from normal food during a normal eating window. Otherwise, it puts too much stress on your plan. Follow your plan and allow your tool to do its job. IF awaits when you really need it down the road. -
4 Months - First notable plateau
FluffyChix replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's probably just a stall. 80g is pretty great for a dude your size. I would say stall suck. We all have em. And keep following your plan. But if it doesn't break soon, then mix something up. Do something different. Add exercise? Change your meals up? Have a blow out meal? Have a fast day? Do something diff. And if that doesn't work, then it's time to start writing down every bite that goes down your piehole cuz chances are your "wingin it" isn't working for you any longer and you'll have to clean things up. But only time is gonna tell. I'm betting it's just a stall and you'll get through it. -
Where are my water guzzlers?
FluffyChix replied to Vance-666's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes. I played by the rules until my doc released me to drink at comfort/will. I can guzzle about 1 cup at a time. I can do cold water now, but prefer it if it's a bit colder than room temp. Play by the rules at first. Sip. Sip. Sip. -

LOL. Some use a little Premier Protein drink in their coffee and still count it as fasting. It just depends on why you're fasting and which method you are using. There are many different ways and reasons. -

Yes. I drink it black, decaff, no sweeteners. I also drink green decaf tea the same way and also EarlGrey tea same way. -

Backsliding... What do I do?
FluffyChix replied to bookworm1983's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So sorry you're having a tough time. We all go through this phase where suddenly we are able to eat more and begin to feel hungrier and on top of it, that's about the time we're feeling better and want to get back to living and most of us are sick of dieting by that time. It's a perfect storm! For me the trick was inventing new games with food to keep me interested. I began doing IF, I varied my macros and made it a game to try to hit them. I continued logging every bite--good and bad. I limited my exposure to fun and frivolity. And I stayed very very low food reward. No craptastically delicious casseroles or ethnic foods. Only sauteed, roasted, or grilled plain meats (no meat lube--drier the better), and al dente veggies (steamed, nuked, roasted, grilled) and a bit of healthy fats. Occasionally I would have a few frozen blueberries but that was pretty limited. By going back to my forever diet and focusing on protein first, then veg and a tiny bit of healthy fats and sticking to 1 cup volume per meal (50-70g protein per day) and 100+ oz of water per day I was able to stay on track and continue losing. In my opinion, unless you are a super athlete or bariatric athlete, if you are "stalled" long term then you are simply eating to maintenance calories, not eating for weight loss mode. For me to lose, I MUST be in the 650-850 range (toward the lower end is better). -

Here's what a 20:4 day would look like for me. I no longer try to do them without at least 1 protein drink. It's just too hard otherwise. I usually try to eat fish cuz I can eat more fish than I can other proteins and it's very high protein per ounce. So I usually do either pangasius (swai or basa) or salmon or cod. And the zucchini here cooks down almost to a list over an ounce (about 1/4-1/3cup when made into noodles with the veggetti. -
What's it made with? Ingredients and nutrition panel please?

Ok, so I'm trying chia seeds to see if my guts are behaving after taking a little break this week. I have a current love affair with "yogurt chia pudding" of any flavor profile. But this current one is peanut butter slim powder with strawberries and cream PP + Greek yogurt (plain) and chia seeds. Mix it all up, let it sit until chia swells into delicious crunches and enjoy. Bought some Reese's Reddiwhip with great hopes and was sadly disappointed so now am just trying to use it up. It works here...Love this! I don't anticipate survivors, but this is very much like a pbj sammich minus the bread! Totals 183cals; 19g protein; 7g fat; 12g carbs; 5g fiber; (7g net carbs); 4g sugar -

Can you share what he said about "knowing" what you needed to combat the spastic action of your bowels and why he felt psyllium was the cure? TY!!! (selfishly motivated)

Rny revision
FluffyChix replied to RNY 2ND RODEO's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Good luck! I know a lot has changed in 17 years...but what specifically has changed about YOU? It will still only be a tool. And any tool has a work-around. We can and do eat beyond and around our tools everyday and face weight regain. Have you worked on your head? Do you have a bariatric counselor? Do you work with an RD who will give you extensive follow-ups over the next 5 years? Are you a member of a local weight loss support group? I'm asking these hoping to hear that you are WAYYYY ahead of me.
