Milestone #1 just passed
FluffyChix replied to AngieBear's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay!!! Congrats and welcome to Onederland!!! What a difference a hundred pounds make!! But I will just tell you--I'm sure your confidence has grown as you've seen and felt success, but I see that same bright, shiny, puckish sense of humor and style/attitude both then and now! Amazing and inspirational! You are beautiful! -

My Plastic Surgery Thread
FluffyChix replied to sillykitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Do any of you guys worry about having plastics out of state or the country or anywhere not local? What happens if you have complications or need follow-up? How do you handle that or how does your insurance handle it? TIA!! Loving learning from you all! What a wealth of knowledge! -
You don't have free access to her post op? We did cover all of that before surgery, but I still see her after surgery and we talk about targets. I can even drop an email to her if I have a quick question like that...IF you don't have a good one, I honestly believe it's VITALLY important to your long term success to find one and "get your band back together". It's your post op team who will support you over the next 5 years (a transition stage for success). This is important cuz the new study just out links After Care AS important in successful weight loss and maintenance after surgery as the pre-op program and surgery are to long term success. Get a bariatric RD and a bariatric psych, a RL support group, here online, and continue with your doc visits as scheduled. So important!

Honestly? Everyone's plan and body is different. Those numbers really must be determined by your surgeon or RD. They should give you goals for each stage of food--even the forever diet along with "Do not exceed volume per meal".

Absolutely 100% agree! If this meal is indicative of his total meals...then protein is low, and carbs and fat are high (but healthy-er choices). But I fluctuate at meals like you, between high and lower protein meals and meals with more carbs via veggies, fruit, nuts, and seeds. The important thing is to get a variety of nutrients for the total day and meat my protein goal for the day from a variety of sources (including veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds--not just lean dense meatacular varieties). Sorry, I shorthand stuff so often and it's confusing! Thanks Rick!!

Denied after being approved and devastated
FluffyChix replied to Panda333's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In baseball terms, you are a "dying quail". An unexpected gift of an opportunity to "score". A bariatric patient who is ready to fall into their lap and have surgery without a 3-6month "sales time line" to wait for the $$$. Any doc can fit another surgery into their schedule for the month, especially if they are a private insurance situation where they actually get paid. So that makes you "HIGHLY DATEABLE". Most surgeons would fall all over themselves at the opportunity you present to them. So be sure you present and explain it that way to the receptionist/nurse/office manager/bariatric coordinator--whomever you have to jack with to get what you want at the new office! But the important thing to know is that time is valuable and the clock is ticking. I'd personally go pick up your records and take them with you in hands. That way no one can say they got lost. -

FluffyChix replied to Panda333's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok. It is devastating. ((hugs)). So grieve for a few hours, then get on top of it. Find out the offices that your insurance covers that are IOQ. Call their office and schedule an appointment this month (do NOT let 30 days lapse from the date of your last RD appointment), so that the clock keeps ticking in you moving the ball toward the goal line. Explain to the new doc's office that you have had probs with insurance and your present program not being an IOQ and you don't want to start all over! See if they can help slip you in. Then make sure you get your complete medical records from the bariatric surgeon, the RD, the psych, the sleep study, the EGD and take it to the new doc. I would think they'd want to fast track you in their office cuz you are Ca-CHING! Ready to give em the money without the 3-6 month hassle of earning it up front. -

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
You should start MOM today hon. Sorry bout your headache and no poopin!!! -
Looks good to me. But your pic looks like it is closer to 50% fat by FMP... Yep, I was pretty dang close. For where you are right now, that meal is not a good meal. You should ideally right now be shooting for protein that provides 1g protein per 10cals. The carbs are too high and too much fat respective to the protein. I'd want to get at least 20g of protein ideally, out of 200 calories. That doesn't leave much shenanigans for carbs or fat if I am trying to max my nutrition.

🍾 To MOM! We heart her so! LOL. I think the Smooth Moves combined with the Clearlax and other carnage finally made the earth move! LOL. I'm back down to 134.0lbs. I was 137.2lbs at one point yesterday, then it settled to 136.

🍽️ 🍽️ What's on the Menu? 🍽️ 🍽️
FluffyChix replied to ms.sss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My RD told me that for most of us a high B12 is a false reading due to our supplementation. And many patients don't stop their vitamins before testing. I was told by her to stop 1 day before so you skip the day before the test. Then test that day, and take your vits after the test. But I'd heard from vets on another board that you should stop them for 3 days before testing in order to see accurate (more) vitamin levels. I think it's not something most surgeons wig out about if you don't have other symptoms? @ms.sss I take 500mg per day hon. I use the celebrate sublingual kind. And my B12 is always high. -

Here's the one I use. It's readily available in my grocery (HEB), or online on Amazon or Vitacost. It's the whole psyllium husks. If I need powder (which I rarely use), then I grind them in the coffee grinder. I have a crap ton of bread analogues on Fluffy Chix that use a combination of: pork rinds crumbs oat fiber coconut flour psyllium husks whey protein They make a magical "bake mix" that you can do sooo much with--everything from "white bread" to biscuits, fluffy pancakes, tortillas, corn bread...so so much. So filling. I love pork skins for breading with parmesan cheese! So good. Also love them as croutons! -
Love both pics!!! But adore the one of your daughter and you!! Too cute! (And the apple didn't fall too far from the tree, did it? )

Yes! The egg foldover! Love those. But I actually made my original psylli wrap for this one. I'd made them last week and so have them hangin' around lurking and acting shady. Adding the psyllium husks (whole, Now brand) to the egg whites and letting them chillax then frying in a pan til they dry out makes them very tortilla-like. You can even nuke them in 15 second bursts on a paper towel until crisp. Turn them once or twice to dry them on both sides. And you have the equivalent of a psyllium cracker that works for everything from Mexican to Mediterranean. Here's the recipe for the original: https://fluffychixcook.com/basic-psylli-wraps-low-carb-gluten-free/ Here's the link to the recipe index. I have a bunch of versions of this that make it fluffier using different low carb keto ingredients like coconut flour, oat fiber, pork rind crumbs (sssshhh don't judge). 3 week post-op pain
FluffyChix replied to KristaS80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could be gas. Could be poop. If it keeps up call the doc. Any bad problem is usually accompanied by inability to keep fluids down, severe nausea, no poops, intense pain (sudden onset)... -

It's fine. If they aren't red or hot, then no worries. It comes off when it comes off. Showers are fine, but I was told no swimming pools, hot tubs, or water emersion until the glue came off and the sites had completely healed. I think that was 4 week? Maybe 6....can't remember any more.
