So you are at least eating softer foods. But the preparation is not so great. Fried is fried. And will add tons of calories from bad fats. 11 days doing this is not good. I'm just gonna tough love this for you. FOLLOW your doc's plan for you and don't advance your diet. Liquid phases SUCK GIGANTIC GREEN ONES! But truth? Suckitupbuttercup. We ALL had to do it. You get through it. You do not have to LIKE your protein drinks. You simply HAVE to do it. Sadly, the first 2 weeks are when most of us feel the least like eating--so consequently we eat very little and eat only protein. And so we are 2 weeks into breaking a bad food habit. Most of us had 2 weeks liquids up front so 2+2=4weeks out. Supposedly it takes 3 weeks to build a new habit. And now that you are having your shenanigans, you are starting your brain and behaviors back at ground zero. My advice? If you can't be compliant at 11 days, you need to get to your RD, your surgeon, and a psych. Cuz you need counseling to work through the head work. The first 2 months is when we lose the most amount of our weight. Don't squander this opportunity to change your life and heal you legs and self image--heal your blood pressure. Write out an index card with your WHY on it and post it on your fridge and mirror. WHY did you have this surgery?!! WHY! Keep a focus on that. Make good and healthy food choices. Get your protein in according to your doc's phase.

Yeah, I don't think everyone did... Typically (or in many) of this type of thread question, the discussion gets very spirited with people either defending or asserting their position or right not to have to be the food police for the rest of their born days. Sometimes fireworks spontaneously errupt. hehe. And I was trying not to insert my particular obsession love of weighing and measuring to the nth degree on the poor newbie OP--so I was gonna recuse myself from answering seriously. LOL! bahahaha. -

Weighing your food on a food scale
FluffyChix replied to chaibaix's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My reply was not meant in any other way but fun. It's actually my favorite question here and we always get SO many different viewpoints! Especially from those who do not weigh or measure and those (like me) who obsessively plan, weigh and measure! Apologies OP. I did not mean this to discourage you! I should have typed this out in my first response. (Disclaimer: I am an outlier!) I actually still plan, weigh AND measure every bite of food that goes in my mouth (unless I'm out at a restaurant. When I'm at a restaurant I use my hand to estimate serving sizes and pack away my extra food immediately). I use (d) the size of measuring cup appropriate for my stage and place it on the scale. Then I place each item I'm eating into the cup, starting with protein at the bottom and weigh that in grams. I eat 2-4oz of lean dense protein per meal by weight (that makes about 3/8-3/4 cup of volume just from the protein) and at 18 months I have a 1 cup forever diet maximum per meal--supposedly. I try my best to observe that Maximum limit so I don't fork over my surgery. Then I tare the scale before each new addition so I know exactly how much and of what I'm eating and I also know that I have satisfied my protein goal for the day. I eat mostly protein + veg + healthy fats at each meal. So it's pretty easy. I do eat more than 1 cup per meal when I eat salad cuz it scrunches down into a lot of water when well-chewed. Hope that helps! -

As everyone said, nuts and nut butters are high in fat and carbs for a much smaller protein return. So at first, I don't think they are very good tummy real estate investment. At first, I had so many problems with them. They made me so nauseous--cuz of the fat and heaviness of them. But I was able to do the PB2 just fine (de-fatted) and that is actually a pretty good calorie bargain. It mixes well in smoothies and Greek yogurt. Now I can finally deal with an ounce of nuts or 1-2Tbsp of nut butter. But I do make sure they fit my macro goals for the day. It adds all three macros: fat, carbs, protein.

FluffyChix replied to Briswife15's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was trying to eat like a bariatric patient. She told me that she needed me to eat to lose weight, but that I needed to be up around 1500cals. Cuz I was only eating 800-900 cals at the time. She wanted my metabolism going stronger so there was more of a shock to it after the surgery. You would still lose weight at 1500 cals in a Weight Watchers style diet...especially as a dude. -

FluffyChix replied to Briswife15's topic in Food and Nutrition
Yes. I'm just telling you that she made me go up to 1500 cals on the 6months leading into surgery. Then 2 weeks before the surgery, I went on the pre-op liquid diet that had up to 1000cals/day 80-100g of protein, low low carb (shakes only with broth, sf jello, sf popsicles). After surgery, I was having around 300-500 cals in that 2 weeks after surgery. -

My doctor told me pre-op that I needed to be eating around 1500cals, so my body would get the advantage of a sudden drop in calories after the surgery. Make sure you are getting enough cals/nutrition in right now so that you do lose weight, but aren't starving or the surgery might not be as effective. You want your metabolism amped up still.
