    my personal little official thread

    Wooohooo! Congrats! That was quick!
  2. Yes. I lost 30 lbs with a combination of IF TREs and minimal EFs. I did a lot of ADF with 500 cal restriction as well. IF got me to goal. But I should say, that my TREs are not free for all eating in that eating window. I still only look at getting my protein and deeply nutritious veg in and a tiny bit of healthy fats... I also have treat days every week.

    My Plastic Surgery Thread

Gosh I LOVE it!! Great report! And I love that he can do it all at the same time! Why not go for a brachioplasty at the same time since it's less money? Then you can get the arms you want at the same time? (Psssst, is it Dr. Now? )

    Food Before and After Photos

Don't forget the coleslaw and the bottom right sauce. bahahahahaha!!!!
  5. Ok, so reality check time. You are 143lbs and 5'3". You could be built like a brick sh*thouse. And you still are NOT in danger of being dangerously underweight. You are at the VERY high end of normal. So take a deep breath. And don't stress. Here's the standard chart. But you may not be built standard. Now that we're all breathing and know there isn't any reason for anxiety...congrats! That was a very FAST trip. Your PCP is an alarmist--so is your surgeon. Average weight loss per week is 2-4lbs. Yes, it does usually slow down. But you are building muscle and tearing it down at a very fast pace. Your strength training builds muscle and your biking tears it off of you. Now...more reality...with the amount of exercise you do, I've no idea how you live on only 700cals/day. I don't care if that's weight loss or some kind of monkey butt magical maintenance. You need more calories. You have 3 macros and only 3 macros to choose from: Protein - no one needs (or few need) 120+ grams of protein per day unless you are in that 1% of 1% elite athlete zone. Carbs - you probably are metabolically flexible at this point, and could handle 50-100g per day. But I understand fearing the carb monster. It is real! And carbs (non-veggie sources) are a slippery slope trigger for many. Fats - here is where a major source of calories reside. Some of us can't do super high fat meals. We get nauseated. But when you suppress your carbs, the % of fat naturally goes up relative to everything else. It doesn't mean you're eating gobs of fat. You could probably easily up your fats to become 65-75% of your diet. (AKA keto). Healthy fats and easy sources for fat: avocado olives nuts nut butters olive oil butter coconut oil palm kernel oil lard, tallow omega 3 oils These foods have the smallest volume footprint but pack in the calories and are nutritionally dense. I would personally start by upping your calorie load by 200 cals per day. You can pretty quickly get up to 1400-1600 cals and then stop and see where you are. You may continue to lose quickly. Your metabolism is amped up. But for most of us, we start slowing down in the last 20 lbs. And at 5'3" and 120lbs, you would STILL only be smack in the middle of normal and healthy. So technically you "aren't on your last 20lbs". Congrats. You are a beast!

Pain and fullness 3 years post op

I don't really know. I thought it could happen to either surgery cuz of having the stuff done laparascopically? Cuz I do know the remnant stomach can twist in VSG? I know it happens more now than when it used to be done in open surgeries? But other risks are lower. With your's being on the right side, that sounds more like gallbladder or ulcer ish?
  8. Adiposity Set-Point - Putting this here so I can come watch it tomorrow! Ok, I took the time to watch this. And I thought I knew a lot already about nutrition, our fat brains, and neurosciency nutrition. But my mind is officially blown. This explains so so much! I'm running to buy this book she speaks about. It's ALL about what I've been saying...that we MUST down regulate our hedonic pleasure response to food in order to have a normal relationship with food. As MO or formerly MO people our response and neural wiring is DIFFERENT do you hear that? From naturally thin people. Turns out...our BRAINS (hypothalmus = aka lizard brain = hedonic pleasure center) will increase our neurochemical adiposiity (fat) set point to defend a higher weight (resist losing weight) based on how tasty your food is! So the tastier, the harder it is to combat and control hunger. It's why substitutions still light up our brains like crack! So sugar free anything still causes our pleasure center to be stimulated and we get a cephalic insulin response. But even salting steamed green beans will make things more pleasurable. Even roasting green beans rather than steaming them, raises our cephalic response and cause the brain to NOT want to lose any weight. Gah! Brain! Ef you!!!!!

Pain and fullness 3 years post op

My pain was mostly upper left side. But it also hurt below my liver on my right side. It was ACUTE! It was break out in a sweat and know intuitively that you're dying. It's the WORST pain you can even imagine. Mine was an internal hernia and volvulus and all my bowels were outside the sack and were twisted. IT felt just like that.
  10. That depends. You don't drive yourself as cray, BUT the other way gives you more time to really deep dive and do the head work. Any prep work you do up front is time very well spent in my opinion. In the 6-9 month lead-in for me, I broke up with high glycemic carbs, most processed foods, caffeine in any form, all white stuff--especially sugar and white breads, pasta, potatoes and rice. And I was also keto adapted. That made the 2 week liquid diet and post op diet infinitately easier!!! I would have hated to go through all of those things PLUS recover from a major surgery.

Now when I see MO people...

@Sheribear68 Ouch! So sorry to hear about your friend!!! ((hugs)) TG you are escaping that fate with every day of your lifestyle change!!! I know how you feel and can relate! And for anyone who is genuinely interested in hearing my journey and not just a rubbernecker, I will discuss the specifics. But for anyone else who looks at me, there is no doubt that I'm somewhat fanatical religious about making good choices--cuz like you, we have some big strikes we deal with. But sadly, no one likes reformed smokers or reformed alcoholics. So we do just have to live our lives. And sometimes the best testimony is through action rather than words. Live your life hon. Let your friends feel safe, coming to you when or if they are ready. ((hugs))
  15. My highest ever known weight was 325lbs. Over the past 20 years, I lost from 325 down to 218lbs during breast cancers treatment and post bc. But i started regaining at an alarming rate and my onc was very concerned the cancer would return. It took 2 years to convince me of the medical need for this surgical intervention. I'd regained back up to 287lbs. I could always lose weight (although slowly), but keeping it off has been a clear challenge. So I lost from 287lbs down to 222 morning of surgery. Today I'm maintaining at 135lbs. I made goal in 9 months (150lbs). It is very very possible to do this thing. It may not be the "average". I won't lie. I'm an outlier and extremely focused. I've gone hungry a lot -- and still go hungry. But that's ok. I refuse to let food/hunger dictate when or how much I eat or how well-behaved I am with food. This body feels fabulous and I intend to take care of it! I know you can do this too. I'm nothin' unusual--just focused on treating my head while maximizing the mileage I get from my tool.

This is very important to contact your surgeon. You need a CT scan when it's happening with contrast. Cuz you are likely having either a volvulus and have an internal hernia where the bowel is getting temporarily twisted and then untwisting. Or you may have a intercusseption (sp? Sorry don't know how to spell this). Or you could just be full of poop and need a great big dump. Or it could be gall bladder problems, or an ulcer, etc. Any way, you need diagnostics beyond an xray.
