So what are you unable to eat now?
FluffyChix replied to mlmx1138's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try them soft boiled (6.5minute eggs) with a 1/2 tsp of real butter. Or a dollop of grk yogurt. They go down very very easily. -
Thank you hon! I was having a momentary pity party for 1, cuz my BD plans are canceled due to illness, Tropical Depression Ilena, and my coming non-bari surgery on Friday. So I have to stay "in the house", eat cleanly, AND be sober. Ugh, a seriously bd debbie downer way to celebrate endure your birthday! *snort* hehe But no worries, I'm all better now! Amazing what a sf pumpkin spice mochachocalatte will do!

Help! I think food is stuck in stoma between pouch and intestines!

Someone used to swear by keeping Papaya or tummy enzymes on hands for those kinds of emergencies? I've never tried them, so don't know what kind to tell you to get. Sorry you had that scare!!! I do know that others talk about the foamies and that walking also really helps. Don't know how that works either! Glad you're feeling better! Be sure to go back a stage for the next couple of days to give your esophagus a rest. It's likely pretty inflamed!! -
Dang! I don't see that you'd need one (DXA), then! I have one of the scales that does body fat and weight too, but not bone density/lbm. But honestly if it gives fat% by impedence measurement and you do it at the same time each day when you are least swollen from fluid retention (bf%) which is mostly in the afternoon, you can get your lbm by math. I most wanted my DXA to confirm I haven't lost bone, and to finally find out just "HOW" much extra fat do I really truly have. My scale measures exactly the same for weight and body fat as at my doctors office. They have a fancy scale that does what your's does!
-
Hahaha! Nope! Not a bit! Can't wait to hear your numbers!!! A DXA is gonna be my Christmas pressie. I got Mary Kay Age Defying things for my birthday (today). And a pumpkin spice mochaloca latte after ralking a 3K at 5am. (apropos of nothing)

Are puréed strawberries ok on the puréed phase ?
FluffyChix replied to PEGGO's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Try blueberries instead or peaches. I used the Premier Protein Peaches and Cream, Fairlife FF Milk, Ice and frozen peaches. Plus you can add a spoon or two of yogurt or kefir for pro/pre-biotics and extra creaminess. -

Not unless you pass them through a fine mesh strainer to remove all the tiny tiny seeds. -

You know! I totally get that! Like I think it might be affected by how rich the food is!!! I was thinking that just the other day. I ate at our little Italian place. And had the "baked ziti" but had it made with al dente garlic broccoli instead of the pasta. It's topped with meatsauce, ricotta, and mozzarella. Comes in an oval individual ramekin and I literally ate maybe 1/8-1/4 of it and I was like...nope. I'm done! I was stuffed and that lasted hours! But I can eat the crap outta salad or raw veg! Today for lunch I had (ate the whole thing--no survivors escaped the island) 1/3 cup tuna salad with egg and cottage cheese made with Grk yogurt, dill pickle, dijon 2oz iceberg lettuce wrap 67g cucumber 28g baby carrot 28g red bell pepper. 😯🤔 -

I try really hard (especially in losing mode) not to "plan" or "schedule" for cheats. It makes it that much easier to have one...like I've already given myself permission or something so then I get to bypass the rationalization and reasoning phase. Right? LOL. But like @Healthy_life2 said, it's important to know your capacity for pain and/or deprivation. Ideally you want to limit the hedonic pleasure center. When you give yourself high reward, high value meals, it causes your brain to defend a higher set point, making weight loss slow to a creeping crawl. Frustrating and tough to be compliant with slow weight loss. So I would go for painful abrupt deprivation and get the weight back off, then try to ease into a maintenance plan that does include a few limited indulgences that are well planned and can be incorporated into your daily macros for maintenance. But that's just me. I figure I can bear pain as long as I know there is an end. If I add extra treat calories now, I guarantee the compliance will be worse, the losses slower and I will get diet fatigue before ever seeing my goal or finish line. So it's a tough call. Right? Now, YOU are the mommy and the boss of cheese and ketchup. So why can't you clean out the house/pantry? Why not ONLY keep the natural healthy things around? Make it tough for the kids or hubs or you to eat crap!? Would/could that work? If not, I will be back with snack suggestions that you can make yourself rather than buy and it shouldn't totes kill your diet plan. But for now...you have to remember your WHY. WHY did you have the surgery? WHY did you endure the deprivation to lose all your weight? WHY aren't you loving yourself enough to self-discipline your food choices? These are the tough parts of headwork we all have to entertain. ((hugs)) -

Ok, who are you and what have you done with our Kitty? -
Volume is king. In the early days when you are only eating an ounce or two at a time, then you fill that meal volume with lean dense protein only. It gives the most satiety for the least carbs and fat. Then later as you progress and you are able to eat more like 1 cup of food, you can fill your cup with 3oz of protein per meal and have a little room left over for veg and a bit of fat. And pretty much, during the losing phase, if you do that--you will lose all the weight you need to lose very swiftly. Later on you can stress about adding carbs to your life. Carbs (other than veg) are added to a meal at the very very last. And if it were me and it is...lol. I add veggie carbs first, then nut/avocado/olive carbs next, then berry and yogurt carbs next. There is rarely any room for shenanigan carbs. And I keep chips and crackers far far away cuz they are my crack. You daily protein goal for a woman is somewhere between 60-80g per day depending on many factors. That's non-negotiable. The 3-4 non-negotiables are: Fluids Vitamins Daily Protein Goals Exercise (ie walking)

What is your concern about them? You are losing really great! Congrats!!

I'd weigh everyday... It's hard with crap in the house. -
I know...it's not even an option. I HAVE to build strength and muscle. It is a non-negotiable part of all of this or else I will end up struggling so hard in maintenance. Thanks for inspiring and encouraging!

Ok, I just got to get serious about resistance training. *big gulp* (hate it so much==but I wanna get smaller everywhere dammit)
