    Weight-loss funnies

Ok, so please note, I do not advocate drinking alcohol after WLS. Bad things happen to good bari peeps, mmmmkay? Having said that, if you have a lot of stress in your life, this whacked crash diet from the 70's Vogue, sounds compelling on the surface! bahahaha!

    Adorable! Tuesday Morning?
  3. Look for an obesity practice that is tied to a large teaching hospital. They are generally ranked as Centers of Excellence and will have a very broad spectrum of care. My practice here includes: Appts with Surgeon Post Op: 1 week 2 weeks 3 weeks 4 weeks 6 weeks 3 months 6 months 9 months 12 months 2 year 3 year 4 year 5 year ***** Additionally--I can see my RD for free whenever I need a touchstone or am struggling. I just make an appointment and it's covered as part of the surgery treatment. **** I also have access to bariatric counselors. There are appointment fees/associated with this, but well worth it! **** I also have 2 free support groups per month that I could attend. I only go to 1 per month. ***** Studies are showing that the breadth and width of the follow-up care program is instrumental in long term compliance and success for losing the most weight and keeping it off long-term. It's all about compliance and following the plan laid out by your bariatric team.

    I really don't like stalls

I'm a daily weigher too. You just have to resolve and accept that daily/weekly fluctuations and non-fluctuations are just happening. It is still hard! Here's a snapshot of my last 1 year of daily weighing. Look how spikey it is. Most charts will show spikes or stairsteps interspersed with periods of flat line. But the overall trend of the graph will show downward movement. Even though I'm a slow loser...9 months later I hit my first goal, 13 months I hit my goal 2, and exactly 19 months to the day from surgery, I hit my last goal 3. It will happen. But you have to remain laser focused and not allow yourself to derail. Or plan for derailment. Cuz trust me, derailment happens even in the face of planning for 100% compliance. Cuz that's just how we roll. Our lizard brain wants what it wants! Hang in there!

Oh gosh, they suck. No way to avoid. It's your body's way of catching up with itself. ((hugs)) Stay the course, continue to weigh, and eat to plan and it WILL happen. Congrats on your losses, you are doing phenomenally well!!

Wah!! Look at Target online. I am getting mine today (2day shipping)--if it comes. They claim to have it in stock...but I've heard "things."
  8. I don't think this is weird at all. It's a total no brainer for me too when I eat my clean bari meals. And also, I know, that I will feel perfectly awesome after a meal and not potentially nauseous, or painful tummy (cuz I know what my meal sizes are of my regular bari foods, so it's easy to pop a plate with a measuring cup on the scale and get er done quickly and repetitiously), and know that I'm not gonna have RH 2 hours down the pike. So I totally get your feelings and think they are valid!! Oh nice! Love the addition of the mint!!! I think I've also done a version with cilantro and basil (out of mint). So good! Definitely play with the liquid amounts and also with the amount of lemon (or lime), the tart really jazzes things up! Also, a slice of Granny Smith Apple with peel really adds some backbone to it as well!

Vomiting for days - can't even keep down water

So it was inflammation then and not a stricture? ((hugs)) On powering on. Bravo! OP, maybe try doing ice chips from Sonic??? And sucking on sf popsicles. And see if small sips (trickles) of warm broth can get through? Also, are you constipated? Are you SURE you aren't constipated??? At 3 weeks I wound up in the ER, cuz of projectile vomiting. About the only time I've puked to date PO. And it was cuz it was official. I was FOS! ROFLMAO! Seriously. I was SOOOO backed up, that nothin else could get down my piehole! Once I broke down the Rosemary's Baby Bad kinds of BMs (for dayssssssss), all was golden mahnnnnn. LOL. *snort*

Ohhh! Well I think that would work? (Of course, the chaffle is cheese and egg, but I'm thinking you can try using cashew cheese or some cheesetacular lactose free cheese!!!) Subs WILL work!

    Crab dip

Get your fluids in hon. That's #1. You'll do it! And totally stick with the mayo!!! LOL. Damn you LI!!!

Yay!!! We can maybe start a Chaffle thread. bahahaha! So first, you should TOTES get the orange one too! And I was tempted to get the 3-in-1 version of the Dash Mini that does the waffles, pancakes and paninis. Cuz you know, you never know when you are gonna need to panini the hell outta your chaffle or pawffle! LOL. And cuz the orange is cute as crunch! I fell down the YouTube Chaffle rabbit hole yesterday and totally effed off work in the afternoon. The one where the guy adds 5g of psyllium to the egg and cheese? It sounded SUPER DUPER crunchtastic! But there are so many variations to try! Especially that you are able to eat higher carb! I think things like garbanzo bean flour for you or quinoa flour, or medium grind cornmeal will be amazeballs!!! I'm completely excited to receive ours today. I'm making the original version with psyllium husks as the first version for me, then having avocado toast and a soft boiled egg for dins tonight. I'm *drooling* in anticipation. Isn't that hilarious!? Mr. F. is gonna have a grilled pork and blue cheese with arugula chaffle treat for his dins.

    My Plastic Surgery Thread

Know I've said it before but I am BEYOND thrilled for you!!! Aren't you completely stoked? Can you believe it's already here? Gosh--I know it probably dragged for you, but it seemed like it flew by! Can't wait to hear about your surgeon's first howdy-do!! You'll get it done. You are that kind of get er done kinda gal!!! I'm SO relieved Mom is staying with you. It's just too important of an operation not to have an advocate in the waiting room and with you each step of the way!!! You will be able to handle the drains. Those aren't any BD. They aren't even that nasty, either. You develop a system! But the help in the early days just navigating to and from potty/bed/ambulating etc. is really important. Oh and TIP? You know the tradeshow lanyards? Get some huge ass safety pins and loop them through the end of the lanyard. Then slip your ends of your JP drains through the safety pin and close it. They will then be attached to the lanyard rather than your clothes. They work by suction rather than by gravity so they don't necessarily have to hang below the surgical sight. Much less chance of ripping them out or dislocating their position. And the best part is you can take the lanyard off over your head and lay it on a counter top in order to empty your drains en masse. Don't know if that system will work for your LBL? Cuz not sure about the length of the drain lines. But they def worked for all the breast reconstruction surgeries I had. I had 4 drains with the last one and it made it so easy peasy!!!

Hahaha. It's the graphite grey, like the stealth bomber. BTW? Your dress TOTALLY rocks for your Really Big Meeting!!! Sorry not to say sooner. I'm super swamped with work and am only playing hooky today cuz of the doc thing. So now I can post like the ho I am. You look so fabulous and can't wait til you have the day of reckoning where you burn your spanx (or maybe send em to me...I'll buy em and pay for shipping. ) *snort*

    Crab dip

Next time, try subbing 2% cottage cheese for your mayo (can't remember if you are lactose intolerant?) then add 1 tbsp Greek yogurt and a tiny bit of mayo and a little bit of dijon mustard (chopped up Claussen dill pickle spear and a couple of chopped green onions if allowed). It makes it so creamy, a better bang for your calorie and PROTEIN buck, and tastes awesome!

Vomiting for days - can't even keep down water

This is now in ER mode. Go to the ER. If you TRULY can't even hold fluids down...you need IV fluids at this point. Let them sort out testing and admit you if necessary. I'm betting you have a stricture. But the critical thing is that you NEED fluids. We need MINIMUM of 4oz of fluids per hour on average to replace vomitus and big D. ((hugs)) and go!

Ok, I know, I know, totally HUGE clothes. But no tengo deneiro (sp?) for new right now. Today was surgery day and I wanted super comfy and warm cuz the hospitals are always freezing. This is my official GOAL #3 day! I revised my goal #3 weight to be my original 130lbs. Cuz guess what? I DID it! I FINALLY made a for reals major end goal!!!! I can honestly say and give myself permission to be super proud of not only my progress and journey, but of seeing a weight loss goal through to desitination. It feels like...victory. Or napalm. Not quite sure. It's like, once I relaxed INTO the reality that I was in maintenance and wasn't trying to lose anymore, my body said, "Psych, bi*ch! JK. We're still gonna get ya to the original destination!" So I honestly don't see a lot of diff in this 130lb Goal #3 pic and the few previous ones. I am sure y'all will say its due to outfit selection and being too big.

Update! Lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ After โ€œgiving upโ€ on making Goal#3 of 130lbs and upping my goal 3 to be 135lbs, calling maintenance, my weight started dropping over the past 2 weeks. This morning I woke up to 130.4lbs! Ha! Iโ€™m now calling Official Goal #3 Original (130lbs)!!! Let the โ€œfor realsโ€ maintenance begin! And no illness was involved this time! Two weeks ago I was at 139, up from 134 after a 4day shenanigans week!! Feels so great!!!
