Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

Yay girlie!! Sounds like a plan! I had wanted to drop sub 130lbs before Fatsgiving next week, but it is beginning to look like that is never gonna happen lol. Which is fine too. Either way. I just want to be sure I'm not up at the top of my weight window of 135lbs. So we'll see. I am pretty sure you will make your goal! Yesterday went very well. It's so interesting how quickly it is to ease in and out of IF. I'm doing another back to back one today and will have a regular day tomorrow. Cuz the schedule works out better for me this way. -

LOL! Unleash the Cracken!!! bahahahaahaha -
Gosh I hear you!! For years they thought I had Cushing's Syndrome cuz my cortisol and DHEA numbers were so bad. Turns out, that I just had very severe PCOS which eventually led to MO and breast cancer (not that I also didn't contribute to my own demise with eating poorly and willfully at times). But to lose weight even with surgery, it's been very very difficult. Before surgery it was even harder. So I get having to keep cals and protein low! At 5'0" your "ideal weight" as defined by the archaic insurance charts is 100lbs. So in kilograms you are 45.5 kg at "due weight" or ideal weight. From there you calculate age, metabolic health, activity etc. So I figure with my metabolism that it's best to be closer to my 0.8g per kg range than on the high end. You would be around 36g for the day which seems way too low. So I would shoot between 50-60g of protein per day.

Hey, playin around with my new toy (portion mate rings from BP store) = seriously heart these things. I made a salad with them today. Plopped them on a bread plate and weighed salad into it. I thought I had the 1/2c ring but accidentally used the 3/4cup ring. I firmly packed the romaine into it and then just cut the other veggies into it, so all total the salad measures about 1 1/2 cups in volume which is about what I eat for a salad serving, give or take. And here's what fit into: Basic Chopped Salad: (1 1/2cups volume=2oz by weight) 3/4c Romaine (28g) 3/4c Mixed Veggies (40g cucumber, 14g cabbage shredded, 14g purple onion) Totals: 19 calories; 0g protein; 0g fat; 4g carbs; 1g fiber; 3g net carbs. I saved this in MFP as a meal for: chopped salad, basic (1s=1 1/2c vol) 3/4c romaine + 3/4c veg)(rom, cabb, po, cuc). Here's the meal with 1/2c volume tuna salad (112g). I accidentally made it too soupy, so more sliderish, but I will mix it up with the salad like a dressing. Will be interesting to see how much I eat. It's another magical meal with the cals. Meal Totals: 114 calories; 14g protein; 3g fat; 8g carbs; 1g fiber; 7g net carbs.

So when I was in WLM, I tried not to do stuff like this. Cuz I was trying to retrain my brain from seeking pleasure and satisfaction in analogues that could make me slip out of healthy eating mode. And so I didn't use these types of snacky types of foods very often. Once in a while I would treat myself to Quest protein chips (which I do like)... But I'm a snacky kinda girl. So these can be preferential triggers for me. Now that I'm in maintenance, I do allow these as part of a meal. I only eat 10g at a time, which is about 1/8cup. And they get eaten after everything else if there are cals/macros available. No way would I sit down and eat out of the jar. They'd be gone too quickly. But eating them in 10g portions, the $24.99 isn't such a bad price. I think I figured I would get 50 servings from the jar that way. It was the way I allowed myself to cheat rationalize eating these delicious bits of nonsense--since they don't/won't fill you up.

I heart these things to the moon and back!!! Seriously! Got the garlic parmesan ones. So delish. Now I'm gonna go for the nacho flavored!!!

You shrinky dinked and from what I saw of your vacay in Brazil or wherever you were? Didn't you show a bikini pic and you have tight skin everywheres? Just sayin.

I'm 20 months PO RNY and can easily get all of my protein needs met with food daily. But I still choose to have 4oz of PP in my decaffs every dang day cuz I love how creamy it makes them and for me all food must count. Meaning, I don't want empty nutrition from things like coffee creamers. And real heavy cream and half n half is a crazy waste of calories too-from my perspective. (edit to add: not that I'm a saint. I will have a cheat meal at times...then it's like "screw nutrition" mindset. But even then, it's not really cuz I find myself asking myself...will this be worth the swallow? LOL) But, I just count the protein towards my daily goal and am done with it. Agreed. Most of us have to do this. For most of us, its your forever diet at 2 months-4 months. Your quantities will likely change in that time frame, but the diet itself should be normal real foods for most. But I did have RD appointments and the doctor setting my portion sizes for the first year.

Oh I hate it when that happens! Gosh the pork sounds divine! I love it when it has that barky outer dry with moist creamy center!!! Yum!

Well my weight bounced up today. I'm sure it's leftover from the weekend partying. But that's ok. I did my ADF DD (down day) successfully yesterday. Made it to 3pm before I had a few pepperoni slices as I headed out the door to get a load of boxes moved from 1 storage to the other...sigh. YES. The storage move continues. Gah. Hatin it. Ready to be done! I just want to reiterate this isn't a normal day of food for me in maintenance. Yesterday was a IF day where I actively wanted to keep my cals <500 and protein <20g ideally (for autophagy), but I ended up over. OH well. Monday, November 18 Maintenance: 5'4", 57y, F, 20mo PO RNY, 132.8lbs B-black decaff L-black decaff + green tea decaff AS-BH pepperoni + uncured salami slices Dinner-Italian Sausage & marinara + 1/3 caesar (no croutons) + grilled salmon + grilled shrimp + steamed broccoli + garlic BS-black decaff Daily Totals: 489cals; 38g protein; 33g fat; 11g carbs; 3g fiber; 8g net carbs.

Did you make it yourself or eat it at a restaurant? You know where I'm going with this...pssst recipe. I'm all about the "super filling foods" part.

Happy Birthday!!! The good news is that it's old blood, yes? No new bleeding? Hang in there and keep your eyes on the prize!

Basically, we each need to follow the plan given to us by our docs and RDs. They have made the rules for a reason.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Sorry. SOME lose faster on the shakes but honestly, it wasn't until I dropped the shakes to 1 or less per day that my weight loss became better. The shakes are very insulinogenic for many--me included. Real food kept my insulin swings after meals much more reasonable. Smaller insulin spikes = more weight loss (generally speaking). Also your doctor advances your diet strategically according to their experience. They WANT you to progress your food tolerance. If you fail to do this step as directed, you might have issues healing and being able to tolerate denser foods down the road. Recent studies suggest that the earlier the progression occurs, the better. Earlier being the 1-3 week progression versus 2-4 months progressing.
