Update and question...oh the pain
FluffyChix replied to MsBrown76's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes. I had a partial ileus. I still have some small issues. I just make sure to keep things moving in there. And if I know they aren't then I go to pure liquids until they are. I can tell from the gurgling when I'm having "issues." So so so painful! Sorry you are dealing with this. For some of us, it takes a while for our intestines to re-awaken after surgery. Sorry for the bladder spasms. Are you allowed to take pyridium? Can't think of the OTC one. It makes your pee orange. If you can't keep stuff down or pain worsens, go back to ER. Keep doing it til you get action and are sure you don't have a full blockage! -
I adore that you faithfully log every honest bite and sip! I love that you know if you hadn't been accountable you would have eaten even more. Holy hell, how sick were you? Lay on the floor sweating and wanting to die sick? Yeah, the whole sleep thing is cray the older I get! I always was a nightowl too. But now, crap! I'm lucky to make it to 4:30 or 5am! Then I'm like, "OK, time to go to work!"

I'm so impressed with everyone's Asian food. It totes looks like restaurant food!!! De-LISH! -
Ok, so today I'm back down to pre-Fatsgiving weight of 132.2lbs. Am trying still to break the mythical envelope (130lbs). But clearly not trying TOO hard. However, 3 days of pretty good eating got me back in the saddle and weight came off. It's always scary to imagine the day when that happens, but the weight doesn't magically fall off any longer. I quake to consider that! Sunday, December 1, 2019 Maintenance, F, 5'4", 57yo, 21 m PO RNY, 132.2lbs B1 - 1 protein latte (1oz PP) + egg white puff with spinach and ham + radish mushroom hash L - Vegetable beef soup with spinach D - Cod Loin & shrimp piccata (unbreaded) with LO Greek Salad, steamed broccoli BS - 1 cheesecake bar + whipped cream + walnuts + sf Hershey's chocolate + sf Smucker's Caramel Syrup Daily Totals: 941 cals; 67g protein; 56g fat; 36g carbs; 4g fiber; 32g net carbs

Man, I can relate. It's crazy weird how easy it is to pack on the pounds from one or two parties! It struck a bit of sobriety into me to think how quickly, poof! The pounds could come back without following a plan! LOL on 16 MINI ITALIAN ALMOND COOKIES! (am I yelling? cuz, you know. 16!!! Impressive! LOL. ((hugs)) ) A bigger question is...how on earth do you get up and go to work in the morning staying up to 2-3am? Me=Envious of those days. I get up at 4:30-5am most days and am asleep by 9 usually. LOL.

Gosh this was a delish Sunday brunch! Make an egg white puff using my egg poacher and also made radish and mushroom hash. I have an extra one for this morning and am looking forward to elevensies. It was so hot I caught the steam rising off of it! Here's the breakout of the whole breakfast. -
Year post-sleeve complications.

Welcome and congrats on your success! I feel your pain. I'd honestly get your surgeon, PCP, and a referral to a cardiologist who knows about bariatric surgery. The first part with fatigue and palpitations could be an emergency state. You need to get blood work done asap to determine if your electrolytes are off or if there are underlying nutritional deficiencies--especially B Vitamins and iron levels etc and yes, thyroid levels too. If all those look fine, then your cardiologist will want you to wear a holter monitor for a month to evaluate when you are having these issues and look at what is causing them. I know it's fairly common for bariatrics to have low heart rates and low bps. Mine runs around 48 and goes to low 40s with pain meds or sleep. They were freaked out in the hospital about that. My cardiologist says as long as I'm symptom free, we'll just watch it. I get heart palps when my potassium goes low. You absolutely have to be under a doctor's care to jack with potassium supplementation. I also had low B1 and B6. Again, very common among bari patients... Hope you're able to get to the bottom of it. Call and make an appointment this morning, ok?! -
I think to a degree, bedside manner matters. But honestly? I'd rather have a first rate surgeon than someone with great personality. I needed my surgeon's skills 3 times. I can't even imagine having anyone else messing around inside my abdomen now. At first, I was scared spitless cuz she was super serious and stern and deadpan. I thought, "Oh great...I got Miss Congeniality as my surgeon." I even contemplated going to another surgeon. But I stuck it out knowing and trusting my oncologist who referred me to her specifically. I figured he must think she's great if he puts himself out to refer her. And I'm glad I hung on. She's an excellent surgeon, I have VERY very very minor issues through the last 2 years and along the way, we became friends. Now she comes in wreathed in smiles, we hug and chat for about 5-10minutes catching up on our lives!

You look sharp and fit!!! Love the outfit and the trench! And I don't think it looks tight at all, but you do have several layers underneath so that could be why it feels constricting. It just doesn't look constricting. It looks marvey girl!!!! Muah!

Yum!! Looks good and very tricky of you!

Bumps-fat cysts under skin?
FluffyChix replied to Ellandriel's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yeah me too. They are fatty lipomas. Most are benign. Some people make hundreds of them. -
Agree with @JessLess. If you can't keep fluids down today, this is an ER visit. This can be many things at 6months. But generally, you don't feel nausea and food aversion like that at 6 months. If you have pain associated with this nausea, you should call your doc this morning and discuss if this is an ER visit. It could be simple constipation, a bug, too deep in ketosis (probably not), stricture, ulcers, or worse, a tortion (partial obstruction) from a twisted gut or internal hernia. Or it could be gallbladder, appendix, pancreatitis, so many things and many of them are true emergencies. Hope you get to the bottom of it quickly and begin feeling better.

Finally Eating Real (Soft) Foods Again
FluffyChix replied to Metamorphosing's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Awesome! The longer you can keep this mindset during the WLM, the better in my honest opinion. I didn't want to dink around with the scenic tour of weight loss. Been there, done that, never got to goal that way. -
Gosh one of the things this journey has taught me with regards to food and indulgences is that I DO have the power to choose and to change the game up. I do remember having those guilty feelings of failure and depression following a feast weekend. I would literally shove food down my gob every second I could! And food is using the term loosely. By food, I mean crap! LOL.Delicious. Carby. Fatty. Crunchy. Gooey. Pasta-y. Ricey. Crap. LOL. Hello, Tortillas y Tamales. Ola Enchiladas Chicas. LOL. Then the next week following it, I wouldn't even be able to make myself get on the scale, much less get back into an exercise and eating routine. Now following 2 days of eating heavy meals (not snacking on crap, just taking in double or triple my normal calories + limited alcohol), and up to 135 (pre-poopy LOL) and yesterday I sprang right back into the program. Got on the scale. Posted publicly to you guys about my plate and my weight and walked an hour both yesterday and today. This morning I'm down to 133lbs (post-poopy LOL) and I feel like it was only a temporary blip--not a backslide into the old ways. I will admit, I had anxiety and crankiness being at the top of my weight window. Kinda like the female cat in Pepe Le Peuw cartoons, trying to pry/crawl her way out of his smelly embrace. That was me trying to escape the reality of the scale yesterday morning--even knowing most of that was water weight. LOL. But this journey and my tool reassure me that regain will only happen with MY HELP. I have to aide and abet for it to happen (barring some medical catastrophe).

Emma, what did they finally determine happened to you and your surgery? I'm sorry you are struggling in this early phase. But hopefully you are on the road to recovery and a year from now, you won't recognize your new healthy self!
