To Pho or Not To Pho....

So I get take out pho. They keep everything separate. I throw away the rice noodles and substitute my prepared shiritaki noodles. I like the angel hair best, since they have a more rice noodle-like texture. I get mine from Vitacost. Google how to prepare the shiritaki noodles. It's important. They are 100% soluble fiber from konjac root. I love both the thin (angel hair) and the "rice" shapes the best!

    Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis

Ok, ladies, are y'all eating eggs? If so, I must share what I made for breakfast. TLF (to live for) it was so good! I buy ready made kim chee with active cultures to help my gut. And I also buy cartons of baby greens: super greens trio + baby spinach. Brekky: 241 cals; 15g protein; 16g fat; 11g carbs; 6g fiber; 5g net carb 2 6-minute soft boiled eggs (large) 1/2 tbsp KG unsalted butter 1 1/2 oz super greens 1 oz baby spinach granulated garlic black pepper Banyan Kim Chee Wilt the greens with garlic and pepper in the micro, of place in a bowl and put the bowl on top of the egg pot, it will wilt while the eggs cook. Peel eggs, split each and add butter. Add kim chee on the side. Enjoy. Holy mama is it delish!! You can make this low cal/low fat by reducing the butter, or using avocado in place of butter, or subbing out for olive oil.
  4. Dayum, shazaam! *running to throw a PP in the freezer and per my new knowledge of them, hoping they don't whack out my heart*

    Gallbladder Inflammation :(

Awwwwww! Pobre 'cita! I hope you get to feeling better quickly and that you can control it without surgery. And yeah, I'd want a doc in town with me, rather than having to commute to get to him/her!!! ((hugs sweetie))

    Gallbladder Inflammation :(

((Hugs!!!)) Dang, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling bad! I wondered if something was wrong, since you have been conspicuous in your absence! Wish I could help! (FYI for my insurance, I have to be referred by my PCP. Maybe you should put a call into yours for a referral to a surgeon? Also, most bariatric physicians are general surgeons. Like mine can not only do my surgery, but she could take out my GB, perform a double mastectomy if I hadn't already had one, and do all sorts of general abdominal surgeries. Since she would know my "topography" post WLS, I would call her for the job fo' shizzle!)

    Children's Stares

((hugs)) You handled that beautifully! And I think you're a super star for putting yourself in situations where this might occur! I can't bring myself to go to a gym, much less get on a boat for those very reasons! I still will hardly go to a restaurant because people stare at me and look to see what I ordered, or go to the market cuz people check out my cart to see if I have any "fattygirl food." (I order super healthy choices because of that scrutiny.) It was a lot worse when I was most recently at my regain highest of 287lbs, and is getting better now that I'm 238lbs. But I still get those stares that hurt.
  8. Go to your profile (click on the drop down menu beside your name in the upper right). Once there you will see your photo on the left inside the circle. You should see a little icon to the bottom left of it. Click on the icon, upload a new photo, move it around to crop it. And Voila! New photo! In that same drop down menu (upper right), you can also edit your surgery and add a surgery date/surgeon/type of surgery, too! You can also add a ticker (dead easy to add), so that you can track all the weight loss and changes! Wahhhhooooo!
  9. You should totally change your avatar to a new one at your current weight. You were beautiful before, but it doesn't reflect how far you've come! Congrats. You're beautiful now, too!

    Sooo tired after eating

Honestly, this sounds like high blood sugar--or higher blood sugar in response to a meal. You should buy a glucometer and strips and test before eating, then at 1 and 2 hours after a meal to get a picture into what is happening.
  11. @Berry78 What the fork are you doing???? Are you trying to get ALL of us in trouble? Your story, the one you're gonna stick to is, "Even as a skinny minny, it's still IMPOSSIBLY hard to mow the lawn!" Theendkthnxbye.
  12. Congrats! You'll do great!!

    Hot Flashes and diarrhea

Call your doc. To me it sounds like your adrenals are storming cuz your ketones are high-er. I'm pre-op, but that happens to me when I take my diet below 6g of carbs. I get the "meat sweats," flushing, anxiety, bounding pulse, feel the need to take deep breathes. ((hugs)) It helps me to get lots of water and to space out my meals more and make each meal smaller.
  14. @xoxococojay Girlfriend! Go fix your profile. Under your name it still shows Pre-Op. We wanna watch you go shrinkydink! Don't deny us our gratuitous pleasures. You know you want to own it!
  15. @shedo82773 Would you mind writing a note to Mr. Fluffy telling him that I'm required to have an Instant Pot please? Your roasts sounds yummay!
  16. @Introversion So for someone who isn't a volume eater--or who is keeping the volume eating under check for now, will the sleeve help long term? Cuz, I "could" theoretically eat the crap outta stuff like you could! I've eaten a Big Mac, Large Fries, Fish Sandwich, etc...at one meal. I've eaten 18-inches of sub at a meal. And now, it is a nail biter, but I am making myself be satisfied with the 6-8oz meal size. But in the back of my mind, I have been considering the VSG as a long term solution to the volume thing, thinking that it might take some of the nailbiting out of portion control. But it won't as long as down the road I will still be able to eat 8-10 fargin corksucking ounces of food! *insert annoyed smiley face here* le sigh.
  17. @Apple203 I want an InstantPot sooooo dang bad, it hurts!! you=luckkkky!

    Week 5 recipes needed

The World According to Eggface is also a great place to start.
  19. 8-10 ounces of food per meal terrifies me, cuz that's MAYBE what I eat per meal now...maybe less (pre-op)! I probably eat closer to 6-8oz of food. *sniff* *gulp* *hic* *sob*
  20. I see you are pre-op so that's a "whole 'nother world" from post WLS. Because, you still have the monkey on your back for portions and addiction to the foods that made us all fat, especially when it comes to eating easy, crap food that tastes delicious and packs a sh*t ton of fat/carb calories with them and the drive thru is a tempting, evil siren. My advice if THIS above scenario is actually your issue, then we all just have to suck it up buttercup and change the way we deal with food. Now, if I'm wrong and instead it's because you have lost your appetite and desire for food as you move toward the WLS outcome, then I sincerely apologize and will help you brainstorm. I second what everyone said about the crockpot and storebought rotisserie chicken especially post WLS, because crockpots are awesome for cooking things in moist heat so they will go down your new tummy better. But if even a crockpot sounds too gruesome for words with work, then you can think of many other pre-made foods from the grocery. I personally think some of them are full of hidden sugars/salts, but there are some jewels that work really well. I tend to eat the same 2-3 things for breakfast and lunch every day. It's easy. It's easy to track in MFP. And I'm not bored by them cuz they are just "expendable meals." I'm busy with work and other daily chores so am not counting on them to speak to my soul, just fuel my body and keep me from going off the deep end with hunger. Breakfast: 1. Omelet or egg scramble with Hillshire Farms Black Forest Ham or pre-cooked turkey sausage crumbles from Jimmy Dean, baby organic spinach/super greens trio, mushrooms, salsa. 2. Cottage Cheese/Greek Yogurt mixture (to keep the carbs down and get probiotics), frozen blueberries, 5g Fiber One Cereal 3. Green smoothie: scoop of banana cream protein powder, 1.5oz frozen chopped spinach, 1oz frozen blueberries, 5g whole psyllium husks, 12oz water, 4-5 ice cubes=blend and drink. (Sometimes I add 6g Vitacost Peanut Butter Slim Powder.) Lunch: 1. Salad + grilled or unbreaded protein (you can get at any drive thru or make your own) 2. Lunch Wrap: Hillshire Farms deli meat, low fat mayo, organic spinach or chopped cabbage, low cal dressing, low carb tortilla 3. Green soup: 2c water, 1 1/2 tsp Better Than Bouillon, 100g chopped frozen greens-your choice, 2 mushrooms sliced, frozen squash or cauliflower (optional), 2oz diced protein (any kind), spices of your choice, hot pepper vinegar. 4. Sardines, mustard, pork skins and grape tomatoes Dinner: You can do anything, but essentially I grill/broil/pan saute a whole package of chicken on the weekend. I cook a lb or 2 of ground meat (turkey, chicken, lean beef, or pork), and usually make a pork loin cuz they are so dayum cheap. Once that is done, I can portion and freeze or leave in the fridge since there's 2 of us. So that's the meat. Once in awhile I will make a pot of chili, meat sauce for "spaghetti," and special soups or stewps then portion and freeze for rainy, non-cooking meals. I keep frozen veggies (broccoli and green beans), fresh veggies: salad stuff, grape tomatoes, avocados, zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, onions, asparagus, etc cuz it takes 5 minutes to whip up a couple of servings of veggies at dinner. I keeps sauces either made or bought to add to meat to jazz it up. I keep shiritaki rice and noodles to sub for pasta. Then beyond that I keep string cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan on hand along with cottage cheese, yogurt, hard boiled eggs. I keep packets of chicken, tuna, and salmon in the pantry. With all of that stuff, I'm able to get meals together in 10 minutes or less. That keeps me on the weight loss trail and living the dream as I work toward surgery. If you don't want to cook meat, look in the frozen foods at all the grilled basics like: fajita beef, grilled chicken, brisket, pulled pork--just read the labels for added sugar, carbs, and calories. Hope this helps you!
  21. In reading reported food volumes/quantities (both VSG & RNY), I see the quantities some of you dudes post and I think as I'm reading...dayum, shazammm! I eat more than them (as a pre-surg), and I also can't envision eating less than you guys once I have surgery? So here's the question? Does the stereotype, "Guys eat more than girls," get completely erased through WLS--regardless of surgery type? So essentially, post WLS, are we all eating the same quantities, girls and guys? If so, don't guys still need more nutrition than females? Or is that a myth?
  22. @apu Aw dayum! It's all fun and games until someone whips out the "die sooner" card.
  23. Derp! McFly?! Of course! This makes perfect sense!
