Regained weight with SIPS
FluffyChix replied to Gamesofthronegirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Why do you think you've regained? Are you doing anything differently since July to contribute to the regain? Do you weigh, measure, track and plan your food? Do you exercise? Do you drink any caloric liquids especially alcohol? Give us a couple days examples of what you eat. Also fill out your profile form to tell us more about yourself. You can also add a ticker to your signature. -
I think there are many roads to the same truth. Love all the advice. Congrats on making the decision to take charge of the regain now while it's only 10-15lbs! Check out this poll and give your feedback if you think you'd be open to this? I honestly would go back to Bari Basics of your Forever Diet post surgery. That's the forever stage or highest stage. As @Healthy_life2 said, it's very important to clean house. Get rid of the crap in your pantry and fridge if possible. And if you live in a mixed house, see what you can do to sequester the crap to one spot that is not if your line of site! A separate cabinet or file drawer or fridge! Detox off the crap, especially sugar and white foods. 1. Food log, plan, weigh, measure EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth, good and bad. 2. Protein first. Meet your protein goals each day. 3. Lo glycemic veggies are next. (Low Carb Keto Veggies) 4. A tiny bit of healthy fats to help with satiety and vit/min absorption. 5. Drink 100oz of fluid per day (a good amount of it water). 6. Take your vitamins and minerals daily. 7. Get back to walking and then to your forever exercise program. 8. Keep foods SIMPLE-try to avoid super caloric, super gratifying foods. I think they make you eat more and cause hunger quicker. Stick to dense lean clean proteins and al dente veg and if still hungry low glycemic berries or underripe apples/pears in small quantities. 9. Weigh daily and take your measurements. 10. Deep breathe, do comedy therapy on Netflix, meditate or pray, hug your kids and fam/friends. 11. Ditch any caloric liquids other than the limited use of protein drinks. 12. Never underestimate the power of Rotisserie Chicken from Costco or Sam's.

OMG. I love these! I also love Tajin spice on them. I can now get away with a couple of small cubes of melon.

I hope to hear from others too. Will you share this info? I'm looking at the least per week that we can afford to do and still pay for the payment processing each month and the fees to keep track of it all. I'm also looking at any sales tax implication, so hope to have some feedback for y'all soon!!! Wooohoooo a real LIVE online support group, accountability partners and book club dealing with the head work and behavior modification. -
Hurts to drink water

Also, continue varying the temperature. And if water doesn't work, then you know, try ANYTHING liquid just to make 64oz. It all adds up! Even popsicles and ice chips. Right? Even broth helps. I know that warm liquids were better for me than cold--even at almost 22months out. But I can drink like a champ and have been able to since the get-go. Are you having any other issues with solid food? You are about the time that strictures make themselves known. Also are you taking a PPI? -
Are you craving salt or protein? I will tell you this protein coffee frappaccino with psyllium is a GUT BOMB! I just had 1/3 of it. It made like 32 ounces and it was only 1/3 of the drink. Now I'm STUFFED feeling. I just felt like I needed to mainline protein so I went with the easiest to digest form of it. And it stopped any cravings in its tracks!

bahahaahaha! This just hit me as hilarious! Cuz of course, that is something I would do: Return my buns of steel panties and automatically go buy tap shoes. Fair trade! Congrats girl!
-
Wow! What do you think it is? Does eating olive, or pickles help with your cravings? I just went and made a protein frappacino. LOL, I underestimated the power of psyllium though. The thing grew until it's now 3 drinks rather than 1. So I have to drink like 6 cups of this stuff to finish it. LOL. I'm full after the first 2 cups (1/3 of the recipe) - it's like flubber. Wanted to eat light today cuz I have a biopsy this afternoon. And all I want to do is TEAR into a big huge bowl of cottage cheese. LOL. The hell?

I'm having a very hungry week. And I'm craving protein. Again with the craving protein. So I listened to my body and ate--exceeding 100g of protein which is so unusual for me. I'm wondering if it's my holiday SF Torani syrup and PP I'm having in my coffee. Normally during the week, I will mostly have black coffee sprinkled with cinnamon. But I've been having 2-4 oz of PP with SF Torani Pumpkin Spice and also Peppermint Syrup. I am still down at my low end of the window. This morning 131lbs even and suspect when I'm PP, I will be down at 130-ish. LOL. TMI sorry.

Do not take Aleve!!!! Unless your doc says SPECIFICALLY you can have it! Aleve is an NSAID and most of us (RNY OR VSG) are told no NSAIDS forever. (I do know of some exceptions but they've been rare.) -
Today I have realized...

There is transient depression as we heal. For no reason, you might wake up depressed, or have it descend upon you. It's important to know it's temporary and has a physical derivation caused by fluctuating hormones released from your fat as you lose weight, or as a result of anesthesia and having someone inside you messing with your guts. (Your guts produce neurohormones that regulate mood.) Hang in there. Deep breathe, drink LOTS of water, do comedy therapy on Netflix, walk a LOT, get outside into sunshine and nature, hug someone hard for a long time! Smile to your reflection in the mirror, get enough sleep, eat your protein and veg and all will be well in your world soon. -

Also, please make your surgeon and RD clarify what they mean by "ounces." This was one of the MOST confusing things to me and it aggravated me no end! I don't honestly even know if THEY understand the confusion they cause! VOLUME is king in our world. Most often, when docs and RDs refer to "ounces" in the very early days post surgery, they are talking BY VOLUME and FLUID measurement. That means roughly we should aim for these volumes. People will swing either 1 step up or down on the time scale for volume. In early days when real estate is totally at a premium, we concentrate and fill that volume with protein first. As we mature, we can handle other things in addition to meeting our protein goals. When dealing with dense, solid PROTEIN in the progressing phases, it's important to go by weight, but it still needs to fit within the VOLUME limit for the meal. And this is where it gets tricky cuz 1oz BY VOLUME does NOT equal 1 oz by weight. That's why I still weigh my protein into a measuring cup first so that I know I get my protein needs met and don't exceed my 1 cup per meal volume prescription for my forever diet: BY VOLUME: 1-2 weeks post op: 1 oz by volume = 2 tbsp of food = 1/8 cup by volume = 1 medicine cup of volume 2 oz by volume = 4 tbsp of food = 1/4 cup by volume 3-4 weeks post op: 3 oz by volume = 6 tbsp of food = approx 1/3 cup by volume 4 oz by volume = 8 tbsp of food = 1/2 cup by volume 5-8 weeks post op: 5 oz by volume = 10 tbsp of food = approx 2/3 cup by volume 9-12 weeks post op: 6 oz by volume = 12 tbsp of food = 3/4 cup by volume 13 weeks to forever post op: 7 oz by volume = 14 tbsp of food = approx 7/8 cup by volume 8 oz by volume = 16 tbsp of food = 1 cup by volume BY WEIGHT: 1 oz by WEIGHT = 28.35g by WEIGHT METRIC = 1/4 cup by volume (approx) = approx 7g of protein by macro/cooked 2 oz by WEIGHT = 57g by WEIGHT METRIC = 1/2 cup by volume (approx) = approx 14g of protein by macro/cooked 3 oz by WEIGHT = 85g by WEIGHT METRIC = 3/4 cup by volume (approx) = approx 21g of protein by macro/cooked 4 oz by WEIGHT = 113g by WEIGHT METRIC = 1 cup by volume (approx) = approx 28g of protein by macro/cooked 1 oz by WEIGHT = 28.35g by WEIGHT METRIC = 1/8 cup by volume (approx) for veggies cooked al dente 2 oz by WEIGHT = 57g by WEIGHT METRIC = 1/4 cup by volume (approx) for veggies cooked al dente -
