Just out of curiosity have you checked if you're low in magnesium. Craving chocolate is sometimes a signal that you may need added magnesium.

So, by snacks you're really saying any one of your 5-6 small meals, right?

Surgery is scheduled November 21st
FluffyChix replied to Sugar42's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congrats on getting your date! I will know more at my next surgeon's appt on October 23. -
Just curious, has anyone tried eating a 6 minute soft boiled egg with about 1/2 tsp of butter melted into it?

what is cordial? Is it sugar free?

Please don't drink any juice, regardless of what you are allowed. Juice is pure liquid sugar and worse, it's fructose + the sweeteners they add to it. It like a liver bomb. Go back to doing your liquid diet without it. Mine does allow 1 glass of V-8, but that's relatively much lower carbs/sugar than say a glass of apple juice or orange juice. Call your pcp if your legs are swollen and your surgeon if you are gaining weight on the liquid diet. They need this information.

Question regarding psychology appt?
FluffyChix replied to norahilda82's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I had to take the eleventy billion question tests. Good news! I'm not a psychopath. Then we chatted for about an hour. We were having so much fun talking that the appt ran over. LOL. So I'd say, just be yourself and have a good time. Be honest. -
Everyone: What was your turning point in your life that made you decide the wls route?
FluffyChix replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Honestly? It was just time. After yo-yo dieting since age 9, I realized it was my fat brain rationalizing so I could eat my favorite food drugs. I have a list of co-morbidities a mile long and am 6+ years out from hormone positive breast cancer. My oncologist has been encouraging me from the 5year survivor mark to get this surgery because it could make the difference between cancer coming back or remaining in NED (no evidence of disease). I am now realistic that given my present anatomy, and a brain with a propensity to look for pleasure and gratification from foods, that I will always be fat and sick, and sick and tired without this surgery. I've decided I'd rather live a good life in whatever years I have left, than sit immobile in a chair, depending more and more on caregivers. I'm sick and tired of living to die and being in WTD status (waiting to die). -

The Good The Bad & The Nasty
FluffyChix replied to KristyAB's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I actually didn't care much for the Roadside Lemonaid or Caribbean Cooler, but the Lemon Tea reminds me of the old instant Lipton tea we used to drink by the gallons during the summer at the Frio. So I relive my youth as I drink it. I also love the Grapefruit and Fuzzy Navel flavors. Any of the other are pretty gross. I water them down a lot though. -
Hehehe, payback's a b***h!

@OmaJ Oh mah gawd, that looks so delectable!! Love your version of it. I will have to try it. -
Yes, it might be different with 2 females where one is getting healthy and losing and the other isn't committed "as much." That's a broad general term/concept. Truthfully, it might have no bearing. Can't say. I can say that my partner (male) has no interest in surgery for himself, but is supportive of mine. He is however, committed to becoming healthy and losing weight. He's a T2 and so we're working really hard to reduce his BGs and A1c. While I've been doing my healthy prep for surgery, he's been doing it too. Cuz you know...I cook. So if Mama's on a diet, ain't nobody, nowhere, nohow, not eating the same thang. Even though he's been far less vigilant (and does have small servings of rice and potatoes when he's at a business lunch, he's still lost about 30lbs to my 50lbs. I still outweigh him by 10lbs and could snap him like a twig if I had half a mind to, but he's happily going along on the healthy train. No reason your wife can't too? She will get healthy by proxy if she's has commitment. (pssst, she may still be in the grips of a junkie situation with the smoking...that monkey is hard to pry off your back--and that could be contributing to her WLS decision tree)

Common Food Volumes/Weights Charts and Information
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Reminder to self: 1 ounce by volume can be dramatically different from 1 ounce by weight (scale). 1 ounce by volume is almost always 2tbsp=1oz. 1 ounce by weight varies according to the density of the substance being measured. (1oz of cannon ball occupies much less volume/space than 1oz of feathers.) -

My surgeon said must be quit for 2 years on her program. Why not do it in Mexico as self pay, with an RNY and your spouse DEF quitting smoking? Also, the surgeon said RNY would/should eliminate GERD since no stomach acid will be going into the esophagus and the part of the tummy making the acid no longer has access to the new pouch and esophagus. (The remnant will still make acid and they can't monitor it with an EGD any longer, but why not use PPIs for life?)

Im feeling like a failure...already
FluffyChix replied to Amburmist's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@Amburmist Comparison is the thief of satisfaction. ((hugs)) It's a b***h, really. I watched my 600lb life and that's kinda sorta what made me really get off the pot and do something about my "growing" situation. (I was gaining like nobody's beeswax.) And for the longest time, I was eating like a couple of protein drinks and 2 spinach leaves and not losing. I was like "what the eff?" How are these people eating Big Macs and Krispy Kremes and still managing to lose 15-25lbs a month? I was sooo mad, it made me go to the doc. I'm still not tearing up the streets with my losses, but they have been slow and relatively steady. LOL, I have pretty much quit watching M6PL, cuz I don't want to break my tv by throwing a chair into it, and it's even harder not to compare myself to the fabulous successes here on the boards, but every day you work your plan, is a day closer to your personal success story. Hang loose Mother Goose!
