Procedure scheduled for Nov 8
FluffyChix replied to AmyAlexis's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
Come join our November buds group!!! It's in the Pre-op Questions for Gastric Bypass forum! Congrats on getting a date! -
Welcome to the new folks! Good luck to our surgery buds who are having surgery today!!! Can't wait to hear back from y'all!! Happy All Saints Day. It rained last night, so no Halloween tricksters here. So glad I didn't buy candy. We watched our boys lose to the Dodgers last night. Game 7 tonight. Going to my physical therapy evaluation this morning. Have arthritis/bursitis/sacroilliitis(sp?)--so hoping to build core strength and work on some things that might give me pain relief. Crossing fingers! I woke up to a 3lb loss. I never have big losses like this, so figured it's a fluke. I only recorded 1lb of it. LOL. Tomorrow morning is my last meeting with the RD. I will have lost a couple of pounds from last visit which is awesome, and still be right at the 40BMI reading. Getting close. Getting close! What are you up to today? Are you working your plan?

Post-op: How long until you ate real food?

Let's talk about DHA (an Omega 3 fatty acid)
FluffyChix replied to Berry78's topic in Food and Nutrition
@Berry78 We don't supplement. We definitely don't take flax oil (very high in phytoestrogens=nono for hormone pos bc). We don't eat any soy either. There is some new information about how much DHA/EPA we really need derived from how little DHA/EPA is actually metabolized from CLA. The belief may now be trending to being that we don't need as much as was previously thought--much like the Vitamin D and megadoses information that's now out there. We do eat wild caught Pacific salmon, either fresh or canned about 1lb per week between the two of us--it makes 1 meal each, plus a spare meal each for breakfast or a light lunch. Then we will usually eat tilapia (responsibly farmed) or basa/pangasius for another meal--or I will have shrimp for that meal. Oh and I do eat sardines in olive oil a couple of times a month. But on the flip side, we eat very little PUFAs, so our balance of PUFA/Omega 3 isn't as bad as those who eat veggie oil and grains. -

Do I need surgery still? A reality check
FluffyChix replied to wjgo's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
@dreamingsmall My oncologist, my plastics guy, and my two sisters who were not ready to have a little sister lose her breasts. My sissies thought I would be getting a set of perky new tatas. They had no idea I would live on in excruciating pain until the end of my life--which at that point we all thought would be under 5 years. I had a less than 50% chance of living 5 years. And they had no idea that although perky (they don't move--cuz you know, they're mannequin boobs), they are truly ghastly to look at nekkidy. But hey, it's 6+ years and I now have a 75% chance of living 10 years. And no one physically strong armed me, but to a vulnerable person, being "strongly encouraged" and told that "most women like having breasts," is highly motivating and persuasive. Especially when you don't know the right thing to do, when you're in fear for your life anyway, and you only have one shot at the right choice. -
@SGirl35 Ha! Well that puts a new spin on things. Now tell me, what woman (especially, what fluffy woman) wants to hang out, just her and her husband with the hot single chick? Hmmm? Inquiring minds and all...

Post Op Day 6 Weight Gain
FluffyChix replied to Killian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hahahaha. Even knowing I'm full o' the poo I still weigh myself daily. -
I think it's pretty simple. If you find yourself hungry and snacky between meals or within 3 hours of your last meal, then chances are that you had more carbs in your last meal than your body can comfortable handle. If you're fighting the urge to snack and graze, you're eating too high carb/too high glycemic. My surgeon and nut tell me I need to eat protein first, then veggies, then if there is any room left over to allow a bite or two of a higher carb item such as a starchier veg like butternut squash or sweet potato, rutabaga--or a bite or two of quinoa, brown rice, or wild rice, or barley. Most of my meals should be protein first and a bite or two of veg. Low glycemic fruit and berries are also allowed.

It's the Celebrate ones. I adore the chocolate, but can't wait to try the watermelon chews! https://www.celebratevitamins.com/celebrate-soft-chews.html -
I drink decaff. The nut said I would have a cup of decaff on the first tray they bring me after surgery. (happy days!) Yes, she knows I drink 3 cups of decaff per day (black, unsweetened) and now I will use one of them to make my iced coffee with the PP in it. So dayum good! And I also drink 1 glass of decaf iced tea and she's ok with it all. Cool, huh? I do have to do 4 total weeks of liquids though (2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post-op). *blech The Vitamin Shoppe has a bunch of kinds that are RTD in their cooler case. You can buy a bottle at a time and try them. Some also have the sample packs of Syntrax Nectar flavors, too. Saved about a billion bucks by doing that. I hated the clear RTD Isopures and such full strength. But since they also count as fluid, I will cut them 50/50 with water and add flavor drops. They are good then and make good popsicles that way too. My nut said I could sip on it all day long. 1 bottle gives 40g of protein. So I could have 1 bottle + 20floz of water =40fl oz of water towards my daily goal for water and get 40g of protein in too. Then I only have to have 1 other protein drink for the day and I'm done--like 1 Premier Protein drink. I figure doing it that way, would keep me from freaking out with a crazy fluid/protein schedule in the early days.

@FL*Girl ((hugs)) and you can get through this day of horrors hon!! And, you'll be able to laugh and gloat at me when I do this over Thanksgiving (hopefully). I've been testing protein supps for 4 months (or more). LOL! Lot's of samples to find these. Most of them give me such terrible asthma! But this is the list that works, so I've slowly bought a new one every couple of weeks and have the hoarded for surgery! LOL!

I've tried lots of Isopure, but which one? I love the Premier Protein Vanilla mixed with coffee and ice to make iced coffee. It's my current flame right now.

OMG! This was me yesterday. I "think" they submitted some time around the 24th, and so I was searching the boards and Google to see what the usual turn around time would be--I don't want to call and red-flag me at the insurance! Knuckle biter for sure!
