SMH. Right? No wonder we're all sick and fighting obesity. -
Add a squeeze of lemon to that, and a bag each of green tea and Earl Grey + a shot of ACV and you have MY favorite morning drink.

Depressed / Feel Like I’ve Failed
FluffyChix replied to nateinct's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Nate, sorry you feel like you've failed WLS. I think that's the deep dark dirty fear we all have and it's also a lie we tell ourselves. The only way to fail is to totally check out and not try any longer. But I don't see that in your intention! I agree that if you are still depressed, you should run not walk to your psych and or doc and ask to have your meds adjusted to either another dose or to a different combination. Some other things that help: Exercise (walking), especially in sunlight and fresh air/green areas. And if you can walk fast until you feel pooped even better, but you may not have the strength for that, so work with your doc. Practice deep breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. Pray or meditate. Google four square breathing. Really great stuff. Watch comedies and laugh out loud. Smile at yourself in the mirror and envision you dressed in a Super Hero outfit. Find someone you love and hug them tightly, rocking, for a long time. Or hug your pet! Then clean out your pantry, fridge, and freezer. Clean out the booze closet too. Begin planning, tracking, weighing, measuring your food. Here are your rules to start: 3 meals + 2-3 small snacks (no more than 100cals each and low carb high protein): Each meal = no more than 1 cup of food by volume = 2-3 oz of lean dense protein by weight + 1-2 oz of al dente steamed dense veggies + 1 tsp healthy fat equivalent: olive oil, ghee, butter, avocado oil, coconut oil or 1oz avocado. Snack Ideas: Hard boiled egg 1oz Boar's Head Turkey or Everroast Chicken 1oz Leftover Dense protein 1oz reduced fat cheese + 1/4oz almonds 2oz Granny Smith apple + 1/4oz almonds + 1 lite string cheese 4oz Greek Non Fat Yogurt + 1oz blueberries 1 Jello sugar free cup + 1/4c Plain Greek Yogurt + 2-3 drops liquid vanilla stevia 1 sugar free popsicle 1cup raw veggies + 1/4c Plain Greek Yogurt + 1/2tsp Ranch Dressing Mix or Lipton Onion Soup Mix You should come take my poll here: -
Can I take Xenical before surgery?
FluffyChix replied to Ninja-slash-nerd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wait so you DID take it? Or you didn't? -
It's only annoying to you because it creates a conflict in what you KNOW to be true, and what you PREFER to want to defend as your position which is counter to it. So you are doing bias confirmation and the obvious response is a defensive position. But it's true. If it were a twinkie and you were jonesing for a twinkie. I don't care if your house was on fire, or you were gonna be 15 minutes late for x, y, or z. You would stop and enjoy the fu*k outta that twinkie...just sayin'.

Woooohooo! New dawn, new day Kitty!! You're gonna feel even better today!!! (Unless it's day3...then it might be a crummy day = usually equals the worst day). Have a good one!! -
My heat tolerance went way down after surgery too. I'm a wimp now. And I used to cook with habanero, thai chilies, jalapenos, serranos, wasabi, horseradish, Frank's etc.

No To Low Cooking Ideas for Real Foods (Stage 4) Post Op

Low Carb Pizza: Makes 1-4 servings; serving size is 1/4 pizza Nuke a tortilla on a paper towel in 20 second bursts. Flip it over and nuke and dry. Usually takes 3-4 bursts. Don't let it brown, just dry out. Sprinkle with use 1-2 servings of mozz shreds. serving size =1/4c of cheese. Add your fave toppings to the crispy shell. Bake on bare rack with aluminum foil underneath on the next rack until cheese is melty. 350* for about 10-12 minutes. Remove and dot with your favorite low cal, low carb sauce. Sprinkle with parmesan and red pepper flakes and enjoy! Here's the nutritional information for an entire pizza. I usually eat 1/4 of one with salad. -
No To Low Cooking Ideas for Real Foods (Stage 4) Post Op
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I think that packaged processed food have their place. Some people need a crutch, especially in the early days. They might not cook or know how to cook. They may only eat a spoonful or two of something. So it feels like it's not even worth it to cook something real, whole foods. Right? Some people need a fix (healthi-er) alternative to their former high crap addiction. We're not all in the same place on the continuum: purist to hedonist. I'm purist about some things (healthy/bad fats and sugar), but not so much in other areas (I use some premade sauces and marinades and gravies cuz of convenience, taste, few calories, few carbs and use some sugar alcohols.) The most I can claim is that I'm a mid-hedonist working toward making better choices. So in those situations, I think the convenience of precooked meals, soups, stews, etc are a good solution. And I think BP is a good store. (I wasn't aware of the restock fee or the taste test guarantee.) I order things like my Celebrate vitamins and treats like Twin Peaks Protein Puffs + Quest Protein Chips/Tortillas + Zeroodles + Epic Pork Rinds, that kind of stuff. I think their prices are fair and they have good customer service. Just my 2 cents. Sorry for your experience. POLL! Let's Play: Would You Join A Private Accountability Club With Online Support Meetings?
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in The Lounge
Yay! That's awesome! Did you take the poll, please? It's one and the same private club. We will have weekly online support meetings face to face via Zoom and will have a private group only accessible by BAC (Bariatric Accountability Club) members on FB. We will also do FB Live meetings/interviews with leaders in the bariatric world-docs, psychs, RDs, fitness people. Etc. And we will also have a book club. I think that will meet every couple of weeks? Also live face to face via Zoom. We'll provide a basic sample meal plan that people are welcome to use, modify, make their own and we will also provide access to our MFP food diary so you can go visit it and see other examples of daily eating. There will also be free recipes and some video recipes. There will also be a cooking lesson at least every couple of weeks. And of course you can go hang out in the group and get lots of peer support as well. I'm putting everything together now and hope to have it ready by Jan.1. I'm still trying to figure out the monthly subscription rate--trying to keep it as low as possible and still cover present and future costs. It is NOT intended to take away from BP. It's intended as an ADDITION to our Bariatric Pal home. For those needing more in depth support. We're also going to try to figure out how to set up appointments 1 on 1 with either an accountability partner, or with psychologists and also RDs. But that is Stage 2 down the road. -

My Plastic Surgery Thread
FluffyChix replied to sillykitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I think teardrop look way more natural. Especially when your nerps are pointing in the correct position! And trust me, the pain from scars is significant. I still have terrible neuropathy from my recons. And a lot of it is concentrated in my pits and along the base where the scars are worse. So you dodged a bullet!! That's fantastic about the lipo and lack of fat. Love that he loved your weight!!! And 4.5lbs! Holy crap. That's a wad of skin!! Hello Clarice. You're too skinny and have too tight a tummy for me to eat you now. (in a non-pervy way). More like with a nice chianti and a fava bean! I think they do that on purpose to keep freak-outs to a minimum! Imagine those having face procedures!!!! When do you leave? -

Yay! Congrats on such a great report! And congrats on losing half of the vacay bloat!! Way to be at 100% loss of EBF! Yeeehawww! And in 10 months. That's amazing!! Aren't you beyond excited and pleased with yourself? What did she tell you about how she thinks you are doing? Yeah, I'd realized the whole extra protein conversion. It's close 50% of extra gets converted to carbs. I think I have figured out the culprit though. I think it's the SF Torani syrups I've been adding to my coffee since right before Thanksgiving. And they have to go. I didn't have any yesterday and wasn't hungry all day until dinner. And today I added them and I was so hungry by 11am, I caved and had turkey breast, cottage cheese and raspberries/blueberries. #crap So much for IF today but I can still pull off an ADF today if I have a super skinny din of foil fish tonight or an egg white puff and salad. I know I need to go back to limiting my protein too. I've been too loosy goosy with it and have been over-eating it. I know I am out of ketosis and can tell I'm having insulin/bg spikes and lows again.
