  1. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's the PITS! And makes you feel so helpless. Just glom onto faith and hold fast! And we'll continue to pray like the devil's after us!!! Yes, well I can't comment on that thread or that poster without violating TOC. I had to ask myself these 3 critical questions when I read it: 1. Does what is about to be said now, need to be said? 2. Does what is said need to be said right now? 3. Does what is said need to be said by you? And it failed to pass. So I sat on my hands. But needless to say--her picture speaks loudly. Isn't a picture worth a 1000 words? I think it is! What I don't get is that we were all fatties. I'm pretty sure most of us were bullied and ridiculed either repetitively or at some point in our lives. Why on earth would someone who has managed to escape the bonds of their morbid obesity act like a mean girl skinny bi*ch? I just don't get it. I would think someone like that has perhaps a serious personality disorder.
  2. Sorry. My bad. I thought because you wrote right after my post that you were discussing me. Cuz you know, the world DOES revolve around me. NOT! hehe Thank you for clarifying! ((hugs))

    Is this a PLOM ?

Love this! LOL. I was definitely a PLOM! bahahahahahaha! But you know, I dress up and wear hats and serve tea and sympathy at my pity parties! Good times!
  4. Thanks hon and I believe you all will! Do you have any news on your review or you're still waiting for the Tuesday review board to meet?
  5. haha. Cakki is older. Nanny is older. I'm youngest.
  6. hehe! Hey! I resemble that remark!!! I'm a puerile six year old trapped in an 90 year old body--I have limited entertainment outlets. Sue me.

    Food Restrictions

Per my surgeon, yes indeedy. Weight loss will actually begin to slow after 6 months. (Her experience with her patients...) it doesn't stop, it just gets slower. So yeah. There's that.
  8. Amen, my sistah!!!! High five! Down low! (ooppsie, look at me, I "accidentally" bumped the damn thing again. hehe)

    February bypass buddies?

    MeToo!MeToo!MeToo!MeToo!!! ((hugs)) Be brave!!!
  10. OMG. That is such a huge realization!!! ((hugs)) I was 228.6 before the last 4 days leading up to my pre-op diet. I managed through cunning and forethought to eat my way from 228.6 up to 234 as of the morning of the 1st day of POLiquid. How crazy right? It's the very thing I have posted for people to not do. And yet, I did it. And enjoyed every minute of it. Every day was a food funeral! But seriously...looking back, I was shocked at how much less I ate! I couldn't fit in all the meals or eat the complete meal even. We had leftovers for Mr. F! I would just encourage you to eat what you find the most and bestest! I went with cheap fatty crap and Texas BBQ, which is not cheap, lol. If I coulda found an RC Cola and a Moon Pie, I probably woulda had a couple of those too! One week is gonna be here SO dang fast girl!!!! I don't know how to get us past that waiting for the other shoe to drop part. It's the pessimist in me, I suppose? But I also think we read the horror stories here on the board and see that it can be a reality so we're trying to mitigate potential damages as a coping mechanism perhaps? Dunno. ((hugs)) You are gonna be a rock star through this! Hey! Why not make your own surgery thread story here so we can all come cheer you day by day? It's really been helpful to me, although it must be like watching attention seeking paint dry to everyone else!! I'd come cheer you on!!!
  11. Day 14 In the bag baybeeee! Boomshackalacka!!! (T minus 2 and counting!) Yesterday was a super duper day! We spent part of it with our niece and great niece where she cheered at a school basketball tournament. Then we took B to lunch while G continued to cheer at another game. I was immensely proud of my restraint. We went to a BBQ joint where they have this "cafeteria style" ordering and it looked sooooooo meatalicious!!! But I got through it and ordered my cup of decaff and a tall glass of ice and we sat down. While they ate, I poured the decaf onto the ice and followed with my protein drink. As they ate, I sipped. And we had a lovely opportunity to visit and catch up! And my focus wasn't on food for once. What an eye-opener!!! After lunch we kissed them goodbye and then went Targeting and HEBing. I got some last minute stuff and a pair of cheap-ass disposable house slippers to wear at the hospital, and laid in a supply of food for Mr. F. and Cakki my sissy who is coming to take care of me for a couple of days. That way, when I'm ready to go home, I will just toss them in their trash and no MRSA or C-diff will come home with me (or at least, I cut that risk down considerably). I also ordered liquid sugar free acetaminophen (McKesson Geri-Care) and Gas-X strips online at Amazon. Thank you Amazon Prime. I you. Can you believe it's so difficult to get sugar free tylenol or Gas X strips in a brick n mortar? By the time I finished everything I was seriously pooped and in big time Billy Badass pain, so threw Mr. F a port wine cheeseball and pork rind snack, made a cup of Herb Ox Beef Bouillon and sat in my chair. It was leftovers for the boy, and protein broth for me with jello and a SF Tropical Popsicle back. Good times. Tomball on a Saturday night! Today I'm making a pork roast and a grilled ribeye with asparagus and a mixed salad with blue cheese dressing as his "proverbial" last meal. Tomorrow will be more leftovers and he and Cakki will have pork roast leftover for the week. Today I'm concentrating on getting the house straightened and clothes washed, folded and put away. Then tomorrow I will pack and relax! I'm not planning on working tomorrow at all! Say a prayer that really works out. Here's Day 14 Food Log. (Using the Clear PP really brought the cals down. )
  12. I would be beyond excited but I have this nagging doubt that it's really gonna happen. I told the surgeon this week that I hoped it would not end up with me waking up and you saying, "Psyched! We didn't really remove anything..." And she smiled, reassured me, and told me that the plan is to do RNY and if anything would prevent that, then to do VSG. I said, ok. And asked if it was ok to get excited. She said it's ok. LOL. So yes, I'm beyond excited. Your shake sounds super duper! What did you use for the banana? I swear the combination of banana and coffee, or chocolate, banana and coffee have been sustaining me for the past few days! The coffee really cuts down on the sweetness. And of course, I seriously love frozen spinach blended into my drinks!
  13. @Sosewsue61 You look absolutely beautiful and so confident!!! Did you feel like you were on top of the world? I've never been on a cruise before, but gosh that looks and sounds like such fun. Love the piccy of the dining room and the beach too! The food sounds divine! I don't know whether to say you are lucky or unfortunate that you're sleeved and don't have to worry about dumping like you would with RNY. But I suspect you realize what a slippery slope that represents. ((hugs)) Good for you for exercising temperance in your serving sizes and for not gaining while on vaca!!! Thanks for sharing it with us! Hope you'll hang around a while, now that you're back!!
  14. Oh my gosh. Tears. It's official. Heart grew 3 sizes just now. Thank YOU so much for walking the road before me and letting me know that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train! And you've helped so much to let me know, that this "thing" looming is do-able. Hugs my friend. I appreciate your support more than you can possibly imagine!
  15. I love you all. I'm so sorry, but will reply to each tomorrow. I'm so damn pooped. I either have to go take a 5pm nap, or throw myself on the floor like a 2 year old and fall out with a too tired tantrum! Love the piccys and all, will be back in the morning to talk! ((hugs))
  16. Sorry to hear about the weight loss!! ((hugs)) And congrats on getting through that big step! Now, "only" surgery and radiation! You got this hon!!!

Go baby! Go!! LOL. I have these neat salt cellar spoons I'm gonna use (smaller than demitasse spoons), and shrimp cocktail forks. Good times! @Sosewsue61 ((hugs)) SOOOOO glad to see you hon!!! I've missed you!

    Cereal with Milk

I make this "cereal" that I'm planning on using post op. 1/4c 2% cottage cheese (Daisy) 1/4c Greek yogurt, plain (HEB) 1floz Fairlife fat free milk 4-7 drops liquid vanilla stevia (Vitacost) 1oz frozen blueberries (no syrup or sugar added) 6g Fiber One cereal threads (original version) 6g sliced almonds Stir the first 4 ingredients until well combined, then top with frozen blueberries, cereal and nuts. Nutrition: 148cals; 16g protein; 14g carbs; 5g fiber; 8g net carbs; 7g sugar It's so dang good. I would probably drop the blueberries to 1/2oz post surg cuz of the sugar content of the meal. It really eats like a bowl of cereal and milk without all the liquid lake of milk part.
  20. Day 13 Done! Take that world! (T minus 3 and counting! Woot!) Wow, yesterday was killer busy and today I'm paying the price with high pain levels. But hells, no time to stop! Gotta push through! I was hungrier yesterday and it felt like I was constantly eating/drinking. But the reality was I still came in at under 500 cals for the day. Let me repeat. I'm not intentionally trying to keep my calories low. My RD would prefer me to get in about 1000cals, and 50-60g of carb along with 80-100g of protein. But my body doesn't like that much protein from protein drinks (causes leg and lymphedema arm swelling), and the only way for me to add carbs cals at this point is to add skim milk. But it gives me asthma. So if you're reading this (all 2 of you--and you know who you are ), don't spaz out thinking you gotta go as low as me. You most certainly don't! This is just where it falls with me getting in about 70-80g of protein and about 20g of carbs and super low fat. About 2 1/2 Premier Protein drinks a day, plus a couple cups of broth, a popsicle and some jello. I was maybe hungrier, cuz I split my protein shakes up into 2 drinks each. I had either Banana Joe Iced Protein Coffee or Choco Banoffee Iced Protein Coffee all day yesterday. LOL. By last night, I was "sweetened" out and had to go for protein broth for dinner. It made a nice, if bland/boring break from the sweet. Today we're going to watch my sweet great niece cheer at a basketball tourny! So excited to see her and our niece! It's gonna be a test for me. Cuz we're taking them to lunch. Everyone will eat except me. I'm planning on having iced tea. I think I can do it. I can't believe it's been 13 days already. When this part began, I thought it was gonna take forevs and now in retrospect, the time feels like it's flown and it's hard to remember the pain of the first few days. I want to be sure to remember this phenomenon for surgery. I think the pain of surgery/recovery will be the same. (Oh, btw? I think it's safe for me to claim that I have officially lost an elephant's penis. And I've no idea where it went, but I really don't miss it. (elephant penis=60lbs) ) Day 13 Food Log:

    Ice chips

Try something like this. Doesn't it limit the sip size? It's a toddler sippy cup. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077PXSL8N/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?pd_rd_i=B077PXSL8N&pd_rd_wg=Mxzul&pd_rd_r=A0ADY48FZ1ZYGRVN143H&pd_rd_w=wt6Rr&th=1

Wahooo girl! I hope to be there right with you on the full liquid phase by Wednesday (2.21.18). I can have protein drinks, strained cream and regular soups, clear liquids, Greek yogurt thinned down with Fairlife fat free milk. Nothing that has fiber in it--so green smoothies are out. I figure I will get some jars/cans of tomato bisque, poblano soup, etc and strain them and add protein powder to them. Also, I can have V-8 which also makes a tasty "soup" with protein and spices, heated up to warm it. I think I remember I can have jello sf pudding as well as the jello, popsicles, sf fudgesicles. I'm gonna try mixing Premier Protein with SF pudding or unflavored jello and see if I can churn it into ice cream. LOL. Will see. I'm with the others. Ricotta Bake won't come until puree phase for me, which will be in about 3 weeks.
  23. Hey y'all, for those of you far enough out post surgery, do you find any issues with eating cooked/sauteed greens or greens in stews and such? (i.e. kale, swiss chard, collard greens, turnips greens, mustard greens, spinach, bok choy, cabbage, etc) Do you find that you have to chop them up more? Or can you digest a soup that has a handful or two of baby spinach or rough chopped swiss chard or kale thrown into it? Trying to understand if the leafy greens get stuck in your new pouch or sleeve! TIA!
  24. Ok, how about cooked, sliced fresh mushrooms? Anyone have issues with a veg with more rubbery texture going through? Or how about okra? Tomatoes? Soooooo many questions!!
