  1. Week 1 Surgeon's Visit My surgeon was so pleased with my progress. She smiled/beamed the whole time!!! And she said I could start eggs today and by this weekend, I could begin adding anything that I can mash with a fork and very soft steamed veggies! Wahooooo!!!!! Thah crahps ah sayuved!!!! I told her I'd been dreaming of a perfect 6 minute soft boiled egg and avocado and poached fish. LOL. She laughed at that! She was taken aback at the extent of my bruising. She said it would all go away with time, but that it was a lot of bruising! And she wants to see me again next week. She ok'd me drinking 12-16oz of water per hour if I want, and loved the amount I was walking. And she said that I'm pretty textbook and right where they want me for weight loss. She was very excited about the lack of pain and about me not being on pain pills and stepping down on the gaba. So it's a great report! And then I did something dumb! LOL. We went out to breakfast to celebrate. And the place didn't do soft boiled eggs or poached eggs, so I asked for 1 egg fried over medium and for a side of avocado slices. I mashed the egg up really well and ate very slowly, chewing very well. (Oh and I blotted the crap outta it, cuz it was cooked in heaps of oil! Blech!) And I ate 3/4 of it. I reckon about 3tbsp total. I had about 1tbsp of avocado and gave the rest to Mr. F. And felt fine, a little burpy--but nbd. But dayum, by the time we were at the polling place to early vote, I was feeling very green and felt in need of a very quick potty break. Made it through voting and home, but by then I had the cold sweats. Came home and had a very "boisterous" visit to the throne that cleaned me out! LOL. Sorry for TMI. And then I laid down and napped. I woke with my pain below the sternum that radiates through to my back. Took some liquid tylenol. And rested for a couple of hours. Now I just had my lunch meal of peach and peanut butter blueberry yogurt soup. So we'll see if I have issues with that meal. I think it was maybe the grease at breakfast? Or the avocado? Or who knows, maybe it's the egg. I will try soft scrambled tonight and see. I don't want to go back on liquids. What was the first food you put down your pie hole post surgery?
  2. Day 9 Post Op - 219.6lbs (-2.8lbs VWT)!!! Feeling great Billy Ray!!!! I slept soundly, woke softly and am on top of the world!!! Thank you Tom! I broke out of the 220s!! Wahooo! I haven't been here in about 7 years!! I'm off to my 1 week post-op visit with my surgeon. I expect she is going to fuss at me for only taking in an average of 450 calories per day. But I don't know what else to do since the milk is giving me asthma like cray cray and I'm getting my protein in! Ok, gotta fly! BBL for more!!

    New Premier Protein flavor!!!!

I tried the peaches and cream last night. I was expecting it to taste richer like the chocolate, vanilla, or even the banana and cream. I'm a little let down cuz it felt a little watery. But the peach flavor hits you in the face. I'm gonna try making protein ice cream with it and will let you know!

    Embarrassing question for the ladies

Oh dear sweet baby jesus I've loved reading this thread! Most especially @abefroman329 the sausage king's input! I am SO immature! ROFLMAO!
  6. They have great prices on Celebrate Vitamins. I love the 3-in-1 Vitamin Stix drink mix for my multi vita, and also love the chewable b12, iron + C, and calcium chews! My surgeon and RD really are gung ho about Celebrate for the bariatric vits.

    January bypass buddies??

    Wow!!! Congrats girlie!!!
  8. Super great idea for a quick meal!!! Oh and you could use Jenn's idea of the frozen tri-color fajita veggies too. Just throw in 1 oz on top of the chicken under the cheese! And squirt Taco Bell hot sauce over it for a Mexican version!!
  9. FluffyChix

    Finally got my surgery date!!!

    Congrats! How exciting!!!

    I’m two days post op

I'm 8 days and felt "normal" at around Day 4. But I'm not going up and down stairs and I also stop and rest when I feel I need to. I drink liquids, take vits and meds, sip protein drinks, walk 10 minutes every 2 hours, work 2 hours a day. and nap plenty!! And I feel really great with no need for pain pills.

    RN twelve hour shifts

I'm 8 days out and feel awesome! But I don't have an exhausting job of being on my feet for 12hour shifts, nor am I doing heavy lifting. You are limited on lifting to about 10lbs for a certain length of time? Maybe 6-8weeks?

    Stuck ... what to do

Ouchie! Sorry you've experienced that despite doing everything right! My RD suggested starting with only 1/8cup and only eating a tbsp out of it at first. Then going back to finish the 1/8c if it turned out that it set well? We're to start with only 1oz on our program = 2tbsp by volume. ((hugs))

    Regrets???

As a surgery noob, today is Day 8, I have "no regerts" other than as Doug said, not having it sooner. And as @jenn1 said...yeah, wish I hadn't eaten my way to super morbid obesity in the first place!!
  14. Oh! This is an awesome example for "non-cooking"!!! It looks delish! So do you melt the cheese on the shredded chicken? Inquiring minds an all, cuz Magic 8Ball says it's in my future!
  15. I'm going to look for it on my HEBing odyssey lol! I'm sure they don't carry the Winco brand, but maybe they have their brand? LOVE ceviche!
  16. @jenn1 Those are all fantastic ideas and so delish looking!!! You got my heart thumping hard with all the seafood! I was like screaming: GIVE ME ALL THE SHRIMP AND SMOKED SALMON!!! The ceviche looks great! Have you tried it? Is it delish?
  17. I loves me some chicken pot pie!!! If you need something soft, the Atkins meals have a lot of options. And each one will make 2-3 servings! So they are so cheap! Each meal has about 22g protein and less than 10g of carbs. Atkins Crustless Chicken Pot Pie: https://www.heb.com/product-detail/atkins-crustless-chicken-pot-pie/1630017
  18. Another easy breakfast idea that will make 2-3 meals is the Atkins Farmhouse Breakfast Scramble, low carb and 22g of protein for the entire meal. https://www.heb.com/product-detail/atkins-day-break-farmhouse-style-sausage-scramble/1629991

    Clear liquid diet pre-op...

Well, it is hard to be sure. And yeah, it is mostly a suck it up buttercup experience. 2 days goes by so quickly! It helps tremendously that you are so far out into liquids that you won't be very hungry, and to keep your focus on the upcoming thrill of finally getting to have surgery. Eat about every 3 hours with liquids: Herb Ox broth packages, sf orange jello, sf popsicle, and for dinner maybe do a Premier Protein Clear drink if that's allowed? It will go by so quickly!
  20. Jimmy Dean's Breakfast Bowls (pick around most of the potato for a lower carb meal): https://www.heb.com/product-detail/jimmy-dean-delights-turkey-sausage-bowl/1172060 Jimmy Dean's Turkey Sausage Pre-cooked Patties: https://www.heb.com/product-detail/jimmy-dean-heat-n-serve-turkey-sausage-patties/1468006 Jimmy Dean's Turkey Sausage Crumbles Pre-cooked: https://www.heb.com/product-detail/jimmy-dean-hearty-turkey-sausage-crumbles/1428878
  21. Haha! From your lips to God's ear hon!!! I am trying super hard to travel the straight and narrow path. Reaching "normal weight" and surpassing my surgeon's goal (which is really only 160lbs), is very important to me. I've never in my life been "normal weight"--even as a child. And I've never hit normal weight goal in all the many diets, so I'm sure I will be a little more totalitarian than many other of our Bari Buds who know they can take the scenic tour and still arrive at goal. You know? I see the surgeon tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure she won't advance me until I finish the 2 weeks in liquid hell. ROFLMAO!!!! So I'm thinking purees will begin next Wednesday! Hallelujah and pass the 2% cottage cheese and ricotta please! I do already have my first day of puree planned out!!! B-soft boiled egg with KG butter for brekkers L-chickie salad made with 2oz canned chicken breast, 2% cottage cheese, 1 hb egg, 1tbsp WF chipotle mayo, dill relish, then blended to a mousse consistency. I'll probably eat it with a tiny spoon sans crackers. D-chickie green bean casserole made with the other part of the canned chicken, and the classic recipe for the TG green bean casserole. Then I'll blend to smithereens after cooking and top with a couple of French's onions. Then will fill up the remaining protein with my protein shakes and broth.
  22. Yay!!!! @Apple203 Thanks for playing, hope you will contribute a TON!!!!!
  23. Real Simple HEB Meals: Pre-cooked, just heat and eat. Makes 2-3 servings (and you can eat only a bite of the carby sides). These are totaly do-able selections for dinner and when you figure that each one is AT LEAST 2 meals, but probably like 3-4 meals for the early days of weight loss post surgery life, it's a bargain! Roast Turkey, Green Bean Almondine, and Mashed Tators https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-meal-simple-roasted-turkey-green-beans-almondine-and-mashed-potatoes/2020297 Pork Tenderloin, Bacon Broccoli, Fingerling Potatoes https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-meal-simple-pork-tenderloin-bacon-broccoli-fingerling-potatoes/2020325 Chicken Breast, Spinach Feta Couscous, Green Salad https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-meal-simple-chicken-breast-with-spinach-feta-couscous-and-green-salad/2019962 Simple Salmon Filet, Broccoli, Fingerling Potatoes https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-meal-simple-salmon-filet-with-broccoli-and-fingerling-potatoes/2019957 Simple Pork Chop, Green Beans Almondine, Mashed Potatoes https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-meal-simple-pork-chop-green-beans-almondine-and-mashed-potatoes/2020308
  24. Frozen Steamer Bag Vegetables. (11-12oz package) These represent a great bargain. Most of us will only have 1/4c or so of veggies in the early days and they must be well-cooked. HEB has a special this week for 2 for $3 on Green Giant Steamer Bag Veggies. Just nuke and eat! They have a big variety too! TIP: Shop your weekly sales circular at your stores. They always have great specials on no to low cook entrees and veggies each week!! https://www.heb.com/search/?q=Green+Giant+Frozen+Vegetable+Steamers+Bag
  25. I shop at HEB. We have GREAT prepared foods with either no to low cooking required! So many healthy options! One doesn't need to cook!!! I'm going to start with the most obvious!
