Really need some help with protein
FluffyChix replied to Isabelmonster's topic in Food and Nutrition
How are you with egg whites or egg white protein? JRobb makes a pretty good egg white protein powder that mixes well! -
Every plan is different, sweetie. And you really need to follow the plan. As others have said eggs can be hard on your new tum--I think part of it is the yolk? I never had any issues with them, but I didn't have many issues progressing and I went from liquids to fork tender mushies rather than purees. But I do think VSGs are different cuz the pouch & incision is so long in the active part of the stomach. With an RNY the the remnant stomach isn't exposed to needing to churn food around. It will pass quickly. I promise! Focus on other things rather than food during this time. Easier said than done. But having said that, you could always call or email with your RD and ask to be advanced. I use a method from Tony Bourdain only instead of adding sour cream, I add Fage Greek Nonfat Yogurt to soft eggs while scrambling them slowly. And I mix it in. That way they cook, but stay super creamy and go down very easily! When the eggs are halfway done, add the yogurt and stir it in, then season it. Yum. Now I want those for breakfast! I also love soft boiled eggs and savory and sweet egg custard! I also use a lot of Real Egg Whites and poach them and they are a very soft, tofu consistency. You can always blend up egg drop soup too. But call or email your RD first!!!!

LOL. You perv. Ha So I'm not a WLS guru, but gosh, try to take deep breaths and or get out in fresh air and sunshine when the blues hit. I would start crying for no earthly reason and alternately I would have huge bursts of anger and frustration! Hormones are hell! I probably would have had a raise in sex drive if I wasn't an old bag! LOL. Hang in there. Everything will calm down and your hubs will then rethink things!

I think the site was having problems. You don't "go into chat." Rather, you go shopping in the store and in the lower right corner of the screen (I'm on a desktop), there's a chat button and you click it and it opens a chat window.

Very upset after nutritionist appointment
FluffyChix replied to Simples's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
I think to hit protein goals as a vegetarian can be somewhat challenging but not impossible. But you would be eating a crapton of soy, or quorn, or other protein equivalents in addition to a large amount of peas, legumes, beans, etc. And the question is whether you lose weight as quickly when you have a high carb diet. Most do it wrong and also add in high fat which makes weight loss stall. But if your doing super low fat, then many people experience great results. I do have a vegan friend who is 6 months out from WLS and her doc wants her vegan and she is struggling with a low protein/albumin/prealbumin level. So she's not absorbing her soy and pea protein supplements. -
Sorry this should have said, "If it WASN'T premade...blah blah blah"!

Agree to disagree. All of my doctors are completely thrilled with my weight, BMI, and the maintenance window I've set. I love food as much as the next person, but I recognize that I will always need to be on metabolic guard against regain. This isn't magic bean surgery. And I was always told I had "big bones" from my mom. But the reality was, I was MO from age 9. Sobering and sad. Turns out I'm a PERFECT candidate for a BMI chart, cuz I am just boringly average build - medium/average frame. LOL. I was just FAT and still love to eat. So I'm retraining my fat brain to keep me between 22-25BMI.

This 100000000000%!!! I wake up early to get my 45-60 walk in! That way I KNOW I've done what I "must" do for the day and every other added step is a bonus. Right? It feels so empowering! And now after doing it day-in and day-out, it is a habit. I don't feel right on the days where I skip it!

I think I mighta!

You're drivin the bus to hell! Ha! Just kiddin! ((hugs)) I put a big fat moratorium on cooking in our house during that time. If it was pre-made, it didn't get done or he had to pick-up or eat out.
