High Triglycerides- Advice Needed!
FluffyChix replied to TakingABreak's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Rapid weight loss can cause transient high triglycerides. (Fats (triglycerides) are made with fatty acids on a glycerine backbone.) Because of our diet, we're liberating fat very quickly. It happens in a low carb/keto diet but also in a VLCD (very low calorie diet). It's not unusual for people to have elevated tris for 3-6 months while doing serious reduction. Honestly, if it were me, I'd ask to be retested in 6 months. Ash do you know if your family has a genetic predisposition to high tris? I would also go pretty low carb if you aren't already. (Sorry can't remember.) -
Congrats on your progress!

It adds up once you add in veggies, fats to it. Mine averages about 450-550 cals/day like this. -
We don't eat out very often and it's rarely fast food any more, but I'm a planner. So when we do, I have a list that I go to for emergencies so I can quickly know what to order at a particular place--that way I'm not tempted by looking at the menu: Chickafila Grilled nuggets + fruit cup (split with Mr. F) Egg white grill (bunless) + add sliced tomatoes on the side Grilled chicken club (bunless) Iced Tea unsweetened ******* Wendy's Value Menu: Grilled Chicken Wrap xtra lettuce, no tortilla Value Menu: JR. Bacon Cheeseburger (bunless; no ketchup or mayo) Southwest Avocado Chicken Sandwich (bunless) made with grilled chicken Small Wendy's Chili ******* McDonald's Egg White Delight (bunless) Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit (bunless) - if you prefer omelet texture to poached egg Pico Guacamole with Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwish (bunless) Happy Meal with Cheeseburger (bunless; no ketchup) + apple slices + small iced tea instead of milk ******* TacoBell Chicken Soft Taco (eat the filling only) Steak Soft Taco (eat the filling only) Refried Beans/Cheese ******** Whataburger Chicken Fajita Taco (eat the filling only) Grilled Chicken Melt (bunless) Justaburger with Cheese - kids burger (bunless; no ketchup) add lettuce tomato and onion with extra lettuce for wrapping burger or with Apple Slices ********* Carl's Jr Steak and Egg Breakfast Taco (eat the filling only) Grilled Chicken Bacon Egg and Cheese Breakfast Biscuit (bunless) Low Carb Char Grilled Chicken Club in a Lettuce Wrap Any Burger in a Lettuce Wrap rather than bun ********* Any BBQ Place: smoked turkey and green beans Any Mexican Place: fish tacos, grilled chicken soft tacos without tortillas; lots of fish; sub grilled veggies or avocado slices for rice/beans sides Any Italian Place: any grilled fish/shrimp/chicken or veggie entree without pasta on a bed of sauteed spinach or veggies Any Pizza Place: Eat toppings off the pizza Crustless Pizza Bowls Salads with grilled chicken or antipasti meats/cheeses. Gastric Bypass option off table-having sleeve
FluffyChix replied to tuckersmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok, so it sounds like a fatty tumor or lipoma. The question I would ask him is if it's growing inside the wall of the intestine, or if it's growing outside the intestine or growing inside the intestine itself and if it will continue to grow? Why can't it be removed? Does it pose a threat to from the standpoint of bowel obstruction or pain? How big is it? What are they going to do to keep an eye on it and monitor it. Just FYI. (Sorry being 7 years out from a late BC and having too many to count scares with "new masses" that the docs are now all "following" it's just not everyone knows to ask these kinds of questions.) -
Gastric Bypass option off table-having sleeve
FluffyChix replied to tuckersmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm still not getting what a "fatty mass" is? Is it that your tummy is too big and has too much abdominal fat so they can't access and make enough room to perform the bypass? I'm sorry you had this experience. Many, many, many people do beyond better than the statistics with VSG and it's become the most popular WLS today. And FYI many/most of the VSG patients are losing faster than I. I'm an RNY. LOL. -
Yes, the more solid and dense, the more texture I get, the better my satiety. Hang in there. You're going through a super hard phase(s) right now! It does get better!!

Yeah--at this point it may be like mainlining an insulin spike. You're limited to 10oz of lean protein because of why? I'm guessing it's your number of meals + snacks and the volume limit on them? Cuz I "could" eat 6 mini meals (mostly I just do 5 mini meals) with the 2oz protein. But I don't always get 2oz protein per meal. The only thing that keeps me sane is having that 1/2-1oz of veggie. LOL. And yeah, so weird about the loss. -
Crap!!! 300-600 cals? Did she say how much volume per meal again? @Creekimp13 Congrats! That's awesome! So happy for you!

Thanks @Mattymatt ((hugs))! You know, none of us got to the Obesity Ball by having great habits and relationships with food. It sucks that it always feels like a bi*ch slap wakeup call to be reminded of our humanity. LOL. -
Well, if ya can't laugh and commiserate with friends, who can ya do it with--especially when the subject is "Farts for $500, Alex."

Out With the Old--In With the New!
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ha! IKR? I was seriously dumbfounded. I take FULL responsibility, but this was before I started paying and praying and just basking in the high. I looked at the empty glass and I was like "Whah?" and then I was FUDDDDDGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEE! (only I didn't say fudge). And about 5 minutes later I was doubling over with pain and bartering with God to make the bad lady stop. Soooo funnynotfunny! LOL. After all that, I'm just now finishing my meal plan and my second protein latte. It's take all morning just to get the first down. LOL. I should go to clears but I'd rather sell my Aunt Fanny than go back to clears. It's hard enough to get the protein lattes in. But they are the basics that have worked all this time. So I don't see discontinuing them. Oh and the taco salad? Totes amazeballs! If you can handle 3/4c of food without a weight limit and 263 cals per meal. You should go for it! I'll post my menu accountability soon. -

Out With the Old--In With the New!
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome back @Miss Topaz! I missed you! Thanks for checking in here. Your voice is important! On a sadder note...I'm not so well behaved these past few days. I believe I can trace it back to the green smoothies and 15 extra carbs per day. Now many of you will say bullsh*t on that one. But I'm very hyperinsulinemic and know from my past history that 15 carbs can be very significant for pushing me over my limits. I was starving and also SOOOO munchie hungry yesterday. It's been this way since April 10th (ironically, the day I started the green smoothie experiment). My will power broke down yesterday. and Iron Will (my pouch) was besieged and overrun. I had taco salad (homemade) with 4 Quest cheddar and sour cream chips. You gasp, "Oh no! Not taco salad!!!" But see, taco salad is part of my kryptonite group. I have a hard time controlling portions. They are usually GINORMOUS. And they also usually contain things that are hard on me (like charro beans, black beans, and/or grilled corn). Last night it contained 1/4c beef taco meat + 1/8c charro beans + 1oz tillamook cheddar + 1oz Grk yogurt + 1/2oz shredded cabbage +1/3oz avocado + 1tbsp cilantro + 1tbsp green chile salsa and 4 Quest Cheddar Sour Cream Protein Chips. That may not SEEM like a lot to you, but it was closer to 3/4c of food rather than my 1/2cup volume. It was over my 3.5oz by weight limit. And it DID NOT FILL ME UP! I wanted more even after I finished. But sooo weird. I felt nuts guilty like I'd had a big time badass binge. My meal has 263 calories in it and 10g carbs with 3g fiber = 7n carbs. But that's about 100 to 150cals more than I've been eating per meal. Then, less than 2 hours later I added insult to injury. For dessert I came back and ate 1/2 of an Atkins Dark Chocolate Decadence Bar and and 6fl oz of Fairlife FF Milk. AT THE SAME TIME! WTF???? WTF is wrong with me? I swear I didn't even give it a thought that hey dummeh! What are you doing eating and drinking at the same time? My dessert was 139 cals and about 7g of net carbs. My total day I had 750calories and yet I feel like I ate 7500cals. OMG>sooo sooo sick last night. Like wanting to vomit/gagging/praying I vomited and cramping sick. Nothing much came up except for a few foamies and drools, and tg no Big D. But it was close enough to convince me that I should never eat one of these again. The Atkins bar stuck in my pouch (I think?). I didn't realize it was chewy from lc caramel. I thought it was more like a piece of cake with icing. Big mistake! I honestly don't even know why I bought them. I had read one of the posts on here about someone wanting a rich deep chocolate brownie and that set me off craving my old Texas Sheeth (Sheet) Cake and a glass of milk. Uggggh!!!! But I really felt like I had lost control of my sanity with the choices I made yesterday. And all because I felt like I was coming down with a head cold and was too pooped make our grilled chicken breasts. And so I rationalized like the crazy woman/addict that I am, to get what I wanted. To give my body a FIX--a hit of serotonin and dopamine. My food drug buzz. So weird huh? But in doing some sleuthing, I've realized that since I began forking with my afternoon snack of green smoothies, my hunger has increased--so has my desire for more comforty food than just KISS food. I want the comfort preferentially over the healthy right now. And see? That's my old pattern rearing its ugly head. So I'm gonna reel it in now. And seriously have to look at my actions and have accountability for MY poor choices. I'm not gonna beat myself up for it beyond this accountability post, but I'm not gonna sweep it under the rug and claim this wasn't a screw up that has the potential to mess me up. Sorry notserry. But everything in moderation doesn't do well with me. If you give me an inch I will take a mile. And frankly, I don't know how small she made my pouch or how much malabsorption I have cuz I feel like it isn't very much. So in many ways, I feel like I'm in the same boat I was in pre-surgery. I'm afraid to weigh this morning but I'm going to. Ok, back. Weight was 196.2lbs. Way to reward bad behavior, body. -
When is it appropriate to consider revision?
FluffyChix replied to Kaze's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Honestly? I'd start with my psych therapist and RD to make sure you're on the right diet and have the right meds for the depression/anxiety. With your kidney transplant you can't afford to fork this up. And another surgery will be hard on your new kidney. You CAN get back into control. Find out what diet your doc (kidney) wants you on. And work with them, maybe even OA (Overeaters Anonymous) and or Greysheeters - overeaters group. They can help you so much. You can relose the weight you've gained and get down principles that will help keep you from eating emotionally. I'm sorry you're struggling with this. I'm sure anti-rejection drugs don't make it super easy to lose either. Any decision you make toward a malabsorption surgery needs to have your nephrologist in the conversation cuz it can be really hard on kidneys. -
Awwwww dammitjanet!!!! I was doing so well too. Thanks for the heads up. Apologies OP. Sorry to intrude. (Oh a different note, I do believe my left ******** might have just descended this morning after 55 years...)
