In the Vietnamese and Asian groceries they have these shrimp crackers! LOL you should check em out! You can also process em raw into a paste and form them into patties like croquettes. It will help deal with the texture. I adore the lobster-like texture. Wish I could afford lobster, but not gon' happen. LOL.

There is also new research out that suggests CBD causes liver fibrosis. (Just like alcohol.) -

I'm neither pro or con. I don't and won't personally use it. But that's me. Not you. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4789154/ ******************** https://asmbs.org/wp/uploads/2016/09/Telem-et-al_LSG-Pathway_2016_Final.pdf (From p. 17 of the ASMBS guidelines which helps determine and set standard of care for bariatric patients both pre and post surgery.) ******************* https://www.liversupport.com/medical-marijuana-alcoholism-and-the-liver/ (From the article "Medical Marijuana, Alcoholism, and Your Liver) ****************************** CBD is metabolized by the cytochrome P450 pathway, as are many other things including alcohol, especially almost any pharmaceutical. https://www.alternet.org/drugs/cbd-drug-interactions-role-cytochrome-p450 ********************** Note: When you ingest substances that the liver says, "Hey, we have to deal with this bad boy in a hurry, break it down and get it out of here!" it adds stress on our liver and causes it to work it's ass off. We're already stressing the liver by quick weight loss. Quick weight loss can actually make the liver more unhealthy before the weight loss and weight stability can make it better. So you don't want to add things to your body that: 1. Place more stress on your liver--an organ doing a MAJOR amount of the heavy lifting during weight loss (quick or otherwise). 2. Don't want to contribute to possible relapse into substance use. 3. Perhaps make things more toxic because it enters your blood stream so quickly, since your gut is altered (although no intestinal alterations occur with VSG, you still shorten (dramatically) the time it takes to ingest something to the time it hits the part of the intestine where it's processed by the liver (or into the blood stream where it is still processed by the liver). -
You look mahvelous dahling! Congrats on your hard work paying dividends!!!

Pre-Op weight loss improves WLS outcomes
FluffyChix replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No. It doesn't give compelling evidence of that. It gives compelling evidence that that restricted calorie diets work. That's all it's relationally proving. Or more specifically, it shows evidence that restricted calorie diets in the obese population with unaltered guts is effective. And the methods need to be futher explored in controlled double blind studies--which are super hard to do in and expensive (in nutrition). -
Should We Just "Accept Our Best Shot" and Not Be Bothered If We Don't Make Goal?
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Rants & Raves
I really had to review the bypass v. sleeve thing before surgery. Cuz until they found my gut stuff, the doc was really pushing for sleeve. But I just felt in my gut that to help fix my metabolic state as much as it can be fixed through surgery, I needed the RNY (and maybe even the DS--I just couldn't make my mind go to DS.) Watch the end of the video. He says what I've believed all along. USE this magic window to maximize your changes! All. The. Changes! Cuz it does come to an end. Anywhere from 2-5 years, the full magic windo ends for all of us. Then we MUST fall back on the healthy habits we've developed through this time frame in order to sustain us and help us maintain the traction we re-gained. It's like we have a super-important Mulligan that we will never again get. Don't fork it up. OK, BBL, gotta go walk and do Vitamin D therapy (you know my anti-fish belly white campaign). Laters! -
IKR?! I totes wore em anyway. I put 2 safety pins in at the darts in back. I'll get maybe another size out of the waste with a baggy butt and legs which isn't a bad thing. I tucked in front and let it out in back.

Everyone's responses here have been so thought-provoking and don't know about you guys, but they have helped me explore stretching personal beliefs and goals. Thank you so much for taking time to give such in depth, thoughtful responses!! In doing this I found this most recent interview with Dr. Weiner that I wanted to share. And his thoughts on set points and weight loss are going to be confirmation to some and challenge others of us! I just thought it was interesting and real world from his practice. And wanted to share. (BTW, I don't hold with his vegetarian/vegan approach but do believe that we need the phytonutrients that are found in good consumption of leafy greens, low glycemic veg, and low glycemic fruits. So I cherry pick from his philosophy and from the low carb docs such as Dr. Stephen Phinney, Dr. Jeff Volek, Dr. Eric Westman, Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. D'Agostino, and many more.) -
Worst Day Ever!!!
FluffyChix replied to hopeful333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Man! ((hugs)) I am SO SO sorry! Hope you feel better soon and that the enema helped. Now keep track of poopies and start Miralax and Colace daily and if no poop by day 3, then call MOM. You know, I don't get it. It's a BIG deal. But our docs (many don't even want us doing bowel preps) don't warn us about this or tell us that you might even have baby stools once you leave here but don't be fooled. You need to have BIG ones first. So it blindsides us! I too had to go to the ER with constipation and back up. But I went cuz of projectile vomiting and cramping pain. I'd used Colace, Miralax, and MOM. I'd had baby bms. But damn. I still hadn't given birth to Shamu yet. It just woulda been nice. I would have jumped on things MUCH quicker! LOL. All the CT showed was that I hadn't ripped anything in my surgery and that I had a crap ton of poop to unload. LOL. I was sent home with meds and instructions to clear the munitions jam. -

Yep, you make VERY valid points! And how would you sort this for confounding factors like that? Think it's a poorly designed study. It also assumes that everyone can lose weight on 1200 cals. Some can't. -
hehe. Can I borrow them for a couple of weeks? LOL. Seriously I had a pair of shorts I hadn't worn in 18 years. Jean shorts. Cute. Totes cute! I waited and waited and waited to button and zip em. Nope. Too tight. Waited some more. Put 'em on to wear this weekend for a road trip. Too big. Wah wah wahhhhhhhhhh. Thanks for playing! *cue song from loser's Price is Right game*

Reasons for Stalls after Sleeve (article)

Thanks for sharing. Happily reporting my intermediate goal of 700-750 is made of 20% carbs; 40% fat; 40% protein. What coinkydink. -
Out With the Old--In With the New!
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Damn it, Janet! Rocky, "UGGGGH!!!" LOL. And just like that 100lbs is stolen from my cold dead grasp! LOL. So good news and bad news. I was 100% beautiful yesterday and worked out like a semi-disabled beast at PT yesterday. Ate responsibly. Could only finish 3/4 of my green smoothie which didn't even have THAT much fruit in it (full drink = 1 1/2oz apple), and ate responsibly last night (1/4 of a Caprese salad=1slice of tom + 1oz mozz + basil + balsamic glaze), 2.25oz grilled chicken + 1oz zucchini and y. squash and the scale showed bounce back as it almost alway does. So I'm up 0.6lbs. I'm not worried except it would have been nice to have it go down again and have a new low firmly in the 180s rather than just hangin on to the 180s by my fingernails. I was 189.2lbs this morning. Grrrr. But the good news is that it's only Week 11. LOL. So I have another week to officially hit Week 12 and 3 months out. hahahaha. Insanity has it's rewards. Today is walking, walking, walking. I'll do my 2 walks to the neighborhood park. Woot! And work of course. So all ist clar der Komisar. Todays forecast is clear with a chance of shrimp! Have a good one! -
Hey Matty. Give me a shout in pm if you want to talk about this! ((hugs)). I would encourage you to try to stay chill. It's VERY difficult to do though, having been through it. The worst time is the waiting. Did you by any chance see the radiology report? You could call the office and ask to have it faxed over? I would think they give a Birads score on CTs as well as other radiological stuff. That might give you some tip off on expectations. Sadly, lipomas on fat people are like remoras on sharks. They go hand in hand. And some grow quite large. And it's quite common to see incidental findings on CTs and MRIs that are nothing to worry about. Lipomas can happen anywhere in the gut as well as other places. They are (I think) always benign. I would personally rather see this kinda thing here in your circumstances (stomach), than say on your lungs, liver, pancreas, kidney, etc. And as for the surgery, if this is cancer, then the surgery saved your life. Cuz it caused the tumor to be discovered. ((hugs)) It doesn't make it any easier for you though. Just remember to breathe and remember you have friends here. Hang in there buddy and stay active. Keep your mind active. Go work out if you feel like it. Go to the gym, even if it's to walk on the treadmill and be around people. Don't isolate.

Should We Just "Accept Our Best Shot" and Not Be Bothered If We Don't Make Goal?
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Rants & Raves
Thank you so much for this!! Your journey has been a big inspiration for me. I feel the EXACT same way! You know? It's like when in life will we have this same exact scenario set-up to maximize any amount of effort we put into losing weight and getting into a healthy maintenance lifestyle. It's like we're at maximum lifting load re: weight loss, and we also have the MOST number of professionals on our side to help us experience this. If we're not gonna jump on the train and capitalize on it now, when will we ever? To Riff on an old SNL skit, "now is the time for work and pain on Schprockets!--then we dance." LOL. My top secret goal by the way EVERYONE would say is unrealistic, but I actually would adore seeing anything under 140lbs. Shhhhh don't tell! BTW you look AHHHHHH-mazing dude! I'm so happy for you. -

No. Tomatoes are actually 10,000 times more acidic than neutral saliva. 10 to the 4th is 10,000. Totes agree on the tomatoes. If the power of 10 math is right and I think it is 10x10x10x10. But hopefully for most people stomach acid is contained within the tummy. But for us peeps with GERD or hiatal hernias or new surgeries that influence the esophagus, when the acid gets to the esophagus it causes inflammation. I know when I was having super bad issues with GERD, the doc made me stop coffee, tomato products and a whole lot of other things. Not arguing against having those things post surg. I eat and drink freely now without issues. Just saying I understand why some docs make those rules.

Out With the Old--In With the New!
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hell, I never know what bs will come out of my mouth next girl. And I EQUALLY love your posts! I just wanna see if I can do it or if I'm already doing it naturally. LOL. I think without the green smoothie or a smoothie of some sort, it will not be possible for me. So I'm just gonna re-examine if they stall my weight out...plus, LOL, I have to play with my new $14.99 smoothie blender toy. ROFL! I think as green smoothies goes, it's fairly low carb--so hopefully that dog will hunt and it's not Gakalicious! And it is indeed forkin' hahahaha! Or fargin' if you prefer--as in, "fargin' icehole bastages." LOL.
