Good for you! When it hits "preferentially" for me where it displaces my healthy normal food (protein and veg), I know it's a trigger deluxe (at least at the present time). Glad to hear you're doing that! You might try my chaffles. Pretty dang bread like, super low carb, high protein and fiber, and just a perfect size to get your protein in too. And it doesn't make me eat them preferentially.

Girlfriend. You've just described a slippery slope. You are seeking it preferentially. And it's lighting up your brain like heroine. When a food does that to me, I flag it and red light it.

I think it's not quite as straight forward as CICO and if you eat less than you need, you burn fat. But one of the reasons IF and ADF are so popular is that it can allow you to lose weight without having as large of a metabolic drop as straight up calorie restricting. If you calorie restrict for long in a normal anatomy, you get a metabolic slowdown in as quick as 72 hours and that can be from 10-15%. Which is partly why yo-yo dieting and regain happens. To some extent, the studies show that WLS protects us a little bit from this metabolic **** storm... But ADF with caloric restriction like I do can be used to either maintain or lose weight. I use it now for maintenance. At the end of the week, it's still an average calorie base...from high and low days divided by the days of the week. It allows me to do lean days (where I hope some autophagy happens), along with feast days. So I'm not stuck only eating 1000-1100cals each and every day. This way I get a few days (2-4) at low: 500-800 cals and 2-3 high days (1500-2000) and I'm not gaining and not really losing very much. So I feel like my metabolism might be recovering a bit? Cuz before I was stuck gaining at anything over about 900! But one thing I am noticing is that I'm leaning out. So fat is being replaced with muscle. Which is what we all want, right? I didn't know I was, cuz the scale wasn't budging, but then I took nekkidy photos at the PS and you could clearly see the diff from the last 6 months between photos. Very clear difference and loss of body fat %. So yeah, IF and ADF are really good about being a muscle sparing type of weight loss. The way you are doing IF is the way Dr. Fung suggests. In maintenance he wants you to eat in an abbreviated window with the same amount of cals/macros as normal.

Ok, bummer that I didn't stick the 129.4lb landing this morning. I was so close! LOL. This morning I'm at ticker weight 130.4lbs which is a great place to start my usual TCB M-Th regimen. It's gonna be an interesting week with NYE and NYD. Traditionally these are HUGE party days for my family with big meals and lots o' wine & Irish whiskey. Am going to figure it out though. I know I can make a bunch of swap outs with an Eat This Instead of That attitude along with asking myself if XYZ is worth the scale bounce the following morning! So today is IF until lunch for a 16:8 with PP in the morning. Some say that isn't really fasting...but my whole day is very low low cal for an ADF approach. And many docs say as long as you stay below a certain caloric threshold that it really doesn't matter if you eat those cals all at once or spaced through the day. Yesterday, Sunday, Dec. 29 Maintenance : 5'4" / 22mo PO RNY / 130.4 lbs ---------------------------------------- I continue to approach NY at the bottom of my weight window. First year evs. As in EVS! I'm very proud of myself. And it wasn't even that difficult--just took making a handful of small changes. #barihealthylife #winningwls #imbacnow #bacrules B1-Protein Latte x 1 (1oz PP) B2- 7/8 Salmon Breakfast Taco (lchf) with avocado + 1.5oz power greens + 1/4c radish hashbrowns L- remaining breakfast taco AS-apple yogurt cottage cheese with cinnamon D-Big Ass blackened salmon salad (2oz salmon, 1/2oz rf feta, 14g baby arugula, 10g cabbage, 1oz romaine, 10g po, 14g rbp, 36g cucs, 6g pumpkin seeds, 2tbsp WF Italian Dressing BS-1 square LoLo Cheesecake with whipped cream and 1/2oz blackberries Daily Totals: 994cals; 70g protein; 59g fat; 56g carbs; 20g fiber; 36g net carbs

You should not feel hungry all the time. That is telling me that something you are eating is causing a blood sugar/insulin roller coaster. A meal should be able to last you 3-4 hours at least. If it's not, then: a. Too small of a meal...usually results in break through hunger in about 2 hours. b. Too many carbs or the wrong kind at a meal...usually results in hunger and food fixation without 30 minutes to an hour after eating. It might not be the 60g of net carbs are the issue. It might be with certain foods and that might smooth out if you try another form or source of carb. And this tells me you are still dealing with head hunger. But honestly for me to lose I have to be so strict: 650-850 cals/daily 30g net carbs (from low glycemic veggies, low fat dairy, eggs/shellfish/seafood, nuts/seeds/nutbutters, low glycemic fruit) 60-80g protein low fat to fill the balance of the cals to the 650-850 mark (usually between 30-36g fat daily)

So weird! I typed in my update but don't see it here? Did I have a CB moment? (chemo brain) Maybe I typed it into another post by mistake? *snort* #senile. At first, there is some hunger. But you learn that hunger doesn't build nor does it constitute an emergency requiring food. Also, I would be constantly hungry too if I ate flax and oatmeal...eating grains is guaranteed to up my hunger game. I also end up crashing from RH.

You look amazeballs!!!! Have fun! Re=sweat pants...jeggings. Are they shapewear? Are they compression garments? Are they pajamas?
  9. And of course, then I come along and prove this point. It is highly individualized. For me, pasta, rice, and bread just slide right on through me without making me full. And then I get RH 2 hours later and lay in a pool of sweat praying for a quick death. But that alone keeps me "scare straight" for the most part. And now that I'm at maintenance, I do sometimes add some low carb options to the mix. Here was breakfast this morning: a low carb salmon breakfast taco with B/A's--I used a 45cal 4g net carb tortilla from HEB: Also, this looks ginormous, big as yo' head. But that's about a 4.5" appetizer plate sitting on top of a 6 in square appetizer plate. Tiny Plates. Good times!
  10. I've taken a Christmas break from logging. Been doing it on and off, but applying the same rules to my M-F and eating basically the same stuff this week. But having bigger weekend blowouts with food and some alcohol. Those shenanigans will get shut down as of January 2. Last celebration is January 1. And that's when we will also launch Bariatric Accountability Club online in Facebook and our small developing website. So Jan. 2 will be down to basics of the Forever Diet! I'm happy to say that I'm still sitting at 129.4-129.8 as of Sunday! Hope I will stick the landing on Monday cuz I will have to make it official on the ticker. Here's yesterdays food but no daily totals: B1: Protein Latte x 3 (3oz PP) B2: none L: blackened turkey wedge salad with avocado (ate 1/2 of salad and 1/4 of the turkey) + approx 1/4oz brisket + 1/2oz smoked sausage + 2tbsp Better Way Jalapeno Cilantro Ranch Dressing AS: 2 glasses cabernet + 1oz pork skins + 1/2 oz aged gouda + 1/2 oz aged cheddar + 2oz baked brie + 1oz GS apple + 1/2 oz rosemary pecans Din: blackened turkey wedge salad with avocado (ate 1/2 of salad and 1/4 of the turkey) + 1/2 oz prime rib, lean only + 1/2 oz blackened mustard crusted atlantic salmon

    Seeing my pecker again!

WARNING: Objects in the mirror may be larger than they appear! bahahahaha! Congrats!
  12. I'm sorry you are going through this! Peri is worse than meno in my opinion!! I lost all my weight after meno, so it is possible to lose with forked over hormones. I don't know the requirments for overstitch, I've just "heard" that they aren't always very successful? Can you tell us more about your diet? How many cals per day and your macros? Maybe give a sample day? I can tell you as a post meno woman on a big time cancer drug that shuts down all hormones, the ONLY way I lost my weight even after surgery was to do low carb lower fat. Any excess fat and I would/could not lose. I can maintain, and I can definitely gain on high fat. So keto as defined by modern terms doesn't work. I've seen it again and again with post meno women as well. Also, no booze. It will stop you dead in your tracks for up to 4 days, especially when you are perimeno and meno. It's like we lose our metabolic flexibility.
  13. Congrats Mikey!!! That's outstanding. What focus. You rock!
  14. Scale of RBB 1-10 with 10 being highest, how bad was it?!! Weight B/A please? Curious if there may be some remnants left behind. hahaha! Congrats!!!!!!

    What if it doesn't work?

It is a legitimate fear. And it's very very common. And understandable. I too had this fear. I know of SOOOOOOO many people who came into this journey after years and years of unsuccessful, yo-yo dieting who were and (some still are) terrified of failing weight loss surgery! Imagine! We go to the lengths of cutting out 80% of our tummy, re-routing feet of small intestines, and go through months of deprivation only to hit the skids somewhere between 6-9 months when the weight loss gets REALLY hard. And life becomes interesting again. And we start living life...and suddenly we have to figure out if our first goal is really a burning desire or if we want to rationalize to ourselves in favor of living a life that got us all the way to the Obesity Ball in the first place! Gosh! Talk about scary larry! It is! It's enough to scare you straight. Use this time wisely. Don't squander your honeymoon period. Use this time when you will have as little interest in food as you will ever have to develop and nurture new healthy habits for life after surgery! If you do that and follow the plan your doctor and RD have set for you, you will be fine and you will be victorious. There is freedom from food addictions and the behaviors of the past! Swearsies! I went from 325 at my highest to 287 at my most recent high and this morning at less than 22months, I'm 129lbs. I'm walking proof and I'm no one exceptional, just average.

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

Yesterday, Thursday, Dec. 265 Maintenance : 5'4" / 22mo PO RNY / 129.2 lbs ---------------------------------------- It's a continuation of the Christmas "mericle" folks. So far I'm sticking the landing and am still below the 130lb threshold. So I "might" be working on a new 5lb window? Early days and 2 more holidays to contend with. Funny thing is I don't have any sense of deprivation. I'm just kinda ambivalent. Sometimes I have a wave of "crush" for something, but it passes. Then other times, I just want my same old clean, lean, food. Sorry am swamped today--having friends over today then meeting friends tomorrow. So no time to food log today. House cleaning waits for no one! But had a gorgeous "Christmas Dinner" last night. Ended up having pan roasted turkey medallions with roasted smashed cauliflower, broccoli in brown butter and avo/tom dinner. And I made these kick - ass cheesecake bars (low fat, low carb) to which I added a 1/2tsp of Polaner SF Peach Preserves with Fiber + a few blueberries + a few toasted rosemary pecans and it was a phenomenal dessert. We're having that for tonight. And it doesn't seem to have affected the scale this morning, so there is that! Score! Hugs all around. B1-Protein latte X 3 (3oz PP) L-Big Ass taco meat lettuce cup (ate it in 2 meals) AS - 1/4c 2% cottage cheese + black pepper (TY @ms.sss) + 1/4oz rosemary roasted pecans D-pan roasted herb & mustard crusted turkey medallions + smashed roasted cauli + broccoli in brown butter + avo/tom salad + cabernet (Oh Jan 1 is coming and it will be a tee-totalling dry month or 3!) BS-low carb low fat cheesecake bar with 1/2tsp of Polaner SF Peach Preserves with Fiber + a few blueberries + a few toasted rosemary pecans + vanilla yogurt "whipped cream" + decaff coffee. No totals today! Sorry!!

    Update on picking goal weight

@Briswife15 I'm so happy for you! I think part of this journey is learning about building skills and new relationships, not only with the outside world, but with ourselves! And part of that is building trust. So I do think it's helpful to get affirmation from professionals as part of building your inner compass. And I don't think it's helpful when your team tries to dissuade you and give an excuse for stopping before you are in a healthy weight range. But that's just my opinion. That happened to me and it was a total mind-f**k. And now they both (doc and RD) admit they were wrong and that I look really good at this weight. I think that will end up happening with your psych, too. But the true thing is to be true to yourself and with yourself and don't rationalize or push beyond with magical thinking/BD thinking. And if you do, you have to be ready to take help without being defensive. Easy to say, hard to do. ((hugs)) So happy for you and proud of all your hard work! (not that my pride matters LOL! #snort)
