10 years post-op - weight gain question
FluffyChix replied to c566's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gosh sorry for your troubles! ((hugs)) Did you talk to your doc about the bloating? I know for me to lose at 57, I have to be at 650-850cals. I maintain at an average of 1000-1100/daily. I also have to exercise daily (walk) and be very very careful about what kind of food I eat. -
Happy NY sweetie! Looking absolutely fabulous! Have fun!!

NY Day is always pork loin, black eyed peas, turnip greens for good luck. Used to have cornbread but no longer. -
Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?

^^^Love this! Great post girl! My standard rebuttal when asked point blank about WLS is: I can neither confirm nor deny. Then I smile mysteriously, wink, do an about face and walk off leaving them with their mouth open. -

Stuck in a Plateau for Three Months
FluffyChix replied to Carmen Pena's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congrats on getting back to losing again! Stalls are the worst! Sorry about the injury. Heal quickly! So the last 20-40lbs for me were the hardest to take off. I had to be SO compliant it was cray. And I also had to add IF and EF to the mix to hit my goals. Also, what is a typical day of food like for you? What are you eating? Are you eating any high glycemic carbs like grains and starches and root veg or breads/pasta/rice etc? Are you eating a lot of cheese and dairy and "lush" calorie dense foods? What do your snacks look like? Usually with uncontrolled hunger it's directly attributable to insulin/blood sugar roller coasters caused by a big insulin bg response. Or it can also be behavioral/head hunger... -

Do some kind of yummy soup, lightened up. Like cheeseburger soup but do the SkinnyTaste version and use ground turkey? Or do a white bean chili with chicken? And a salad? Then you can do a sugar free cheesecake! -

Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?
FluffyChix replied to J Johnston's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ugh! I had a similar thing happen to me twice at two different fancy schmancy parties. One blindsided me. The other I was at least sorta prepared for... -
Yes! All. The. Moods! What you have to know is that it's a hormone super collider! Just know that it DOES get better and you will be happy soon. Watch comedies. Get out in fresh air. Walk as much as safely and humanly possible. Comedy therapy. Watch. All. The. Comedies. Did I mention comedies? Laugh. A bunch! Google Four Square Breathing Hug someone you love as tight as you can stand for about 1-3 minutes. Do it often. The hunger will get better with solid foods. Drink lots of water. Ask your doc about taking a PPI. Sometimes acid makes you mistake it as hunger. Feel better soon. Concentrate on the weight just falling off of you!!

What do you do to amp up your weight loss/break a stall?
FluffyChix replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know you are right around the 3mo mark. I think if I remember, I had a heller stall around month 3? Make sure you are making your protein goals hon. ((hugs)) And make sure you are really drinking your water. No doubt the pain has your cortisol levels up which jacks with insulin which you know what that means...less weight loss. Hang in there!! -
You know what I find? I find that by coming here every day, I stay motivated by my friends success and their energy becomes my own--even on days I have none. And there is nothing so motivating as being with a group of peeps working towards a common goal or experience. It's electrifying! So I'm really glad you are here with us and hope you will hang around. You will be back on top of your game before you know it. (Also, maybe you might think about the fact that you might not WANT your milk supply to dry up...cuz that means that baby is not a baby anymore. That has to be a gut wrenching time for a mommy!!! ((hugs)) )

Progress not perfection!! WTG!

I'm gonna second this. LOL. Not that that's important! Bahahaha! Also your day looks gorgeous right up to the scene of the crash... I think the 4 pretzel chips primed the pump. Then you came in guns blazin with 4oz of potato and then had more pretzel chips plus sf stuff, then you lost it completely. I think it has more to do with the blood sugar roller coaster you are on than SAD or the SI probs. When this happens to me the only way I can do it is to take it one meal at a time and try to go low for 4 days. After the pain of 4 days at 20g of carbs net from veggies, I'm pretty good. But if I'm trying to get motivation back, nothing makes me lose it quicker than a bunch of carbs.

Ok, breaking news... I'm back to defending my 129.4lbs Don't ask how... #snort

What do you do to amp up your weight loss/break a stall?
FluffyChix replied to Cherylmilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah. What they said! ((hugs)) Stalls suck big green ones!!! Congrats on your fabulous success and for being focused and working the plan. I SWEAR if you keep working your plan and trusting in the process it WILL happen and the stall(s) will break!!! Stay the course. (Sorry bout your pinched nerve! Do they have you taking cortisone or anything?) -
My opinion is you take baby steps back into compliance especially if you've been on the rails for any length of time. Cuz if you fall, then the beatings seem to be much bigger and it sets up a touch cycle of "try-fall-beating-lower mood" rinse and repeat. Make the most important change first. (ie breaking up with the worst food of abuse at the RIGHT time--I wouldn't do it until after NYD), then observe what you are eating. Figure out all the non-essentials. Clean pantry and fridge. Bring in healthy choices. Get an action plan. And then implement the action plan. Once you have 2-3 weeks of wins under your belt, then go into IF. Unless you have iron balls...then you know...doooo eeet! LOL.

WTG! Glad you got to talk to your doc and set up a plan!!!
