Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

Ok, will wonders never cease!!! I actually had a pretty great fasting day yesterday. It was a nail biter at times to be sure. LOL. But I made it to 25 hours! Holy sh*t Batman! Then I ate ALL the things. (Not really, but I did eat a good dinner of chicken and spinach with garlic.) I did not get anywhere near close to 60g of protein. I'm reading that if you are MO or overweight, that may not be necessary. The protein that is used would be extra broken stuff and things like skin before it pulls from lean muscle. But I'm doing more research to find out for sure. It's also 9.20.18. That means Duh. Duh. Dunnnnhhhhhh. It's time for my monthy accounting according to my date of surgery. I had surgery 2.20.18 and that makes today the start of Month 8. I've been doing IF for roughly 3 weeks. When I weighed on 8.20.18 I was at a then "new low" and then had my usual bounce up at the end of the month. So my weight on 8.20 was lower than it was on 9.03. But it still sucks that in this month, I've lost only 3.8 lbs from 8.20-9.20. I did lose 5.75 inches so I am gonna glom onto that as a win. Weight 8.20.18 (164.6lbs) | Weight 9.20.18 (160.8lbs) | -3.8lbs loss (I've lost 61.6lbs since day of surgery and 126.2lbs from my most recent high of 287+lbs.) 08.20.18 Measurements | 09.20.18 Measurements | -5.75inches lost Chest 39.5 | 39 | -.5 Waist 32.5 | 31 | -1.5 Hips 41.5 | 41 | -.5 Neck 13.5 | 13 | -.5 Right Thigh 22 | 21 | -1 Left Thigh 22 | 21 | -1 Right Arm 11 | 10.75 | -.25 Left Arm (Lymphedema from cancer) 12.5 | 12 | -.5 On 10.01.18 I will post my official losses for the month of September. Fun with math (and flags, mostly math though). I'm going to try to do one more 24 hour fast today. That will make it 3 consecutive days of 24 hour fasts. This weekend will be busy and we have the playoff games for our minor league (Atlantic League) team on at least Friday and Saturday and maybe even Sunday nights. I'm planning on making us wraps for dinners before we leave for the park, but I do think there will be popcorn involved and probably a few peanuts--not many for me. But that way I can hold the transgressions down to popcorn and it sure helps if I'm full. So I will not do fasting--or maybe just 14/10 with regular eating after that. We'll see how it goes. I'm nervous! -

Makes sense, but it still sucks for you -- any way you slice it. "The mones" bite! LOL I don't care who you are--animal, mineral or vegetable. -

Wooohoooo can't wait to hear how it does!! Also, to add more of a Vietnamese flavor you should try adding a little Nestle Crema Media--like unsweetened condensed milk. It gives it an authentico "canned" taste. hahahaha -

Damn that looks amazing. I made it past the witching hour and am on the downhill stretch to having 1 meal today with a 23-ish/1. I would (WARNING: I'm so hungry my ghetto-speak is being expressed...runaway! runaway!) cut a b***h for it! LOL! -
Shewww! For a second I thought IIIIIII was the one who clicked on the laughy emoji! And I'd do it only cuz I'm used to you crackin' me up--so it's reflexive.

Yes. hehe. But mostly about the ones I ate. They made me nauseous I think from either too much fat or too many carbs at once? Dunno. You would think that would be enough negative reinforcement to cement not eating them. Apparently it takes learning the lesson a few times to get this. -

I get it. ((hugs)) What do you think it's gonna take to get your there? Sometimes I have to re-invent games for myself to keep my head in it. Honestly, that's what I'm doing with IF--hoping it will re-ignite that burnin' burnin' love! LOL. -

Dang I wanted a DDT, but had to make "deals" with "the boss" haha, to even get the car to stop at TB...I began by saying, 2 crispy tacos each and wound up getting 3 each. I thought I was doing good with that and shouldn't push it for the DDT. (BTW I didn't eat three--I did eat 2 full tacos + about 2 bites of the third before throwing it away and pouring dish soap on it. I was then pretty miserable for a couple of hours...) -

I think maybe you and I have similar triggers. Dayum, I wouldn't wish that on anyone! haha! It really sounds like you're at burnout phase. ((hugs)) I think you should try doing your moderate approach to IF like 14-16hour fasts, then eat regularly, following your surgeon's rules: protein first, low glycemic veg and fat, plus carbs at the end if you still have room or want them and see how it goes. Quit ordering off the appetizer menu, quit ordering chicken if that's not what you want...And keep your cals in the 800-1000 range-ish. No beer or alcohol. *sniff* Cuz you know, misreh loves company! And keep track of it here! I think that's the cool thing about this thread is that we are kind of n=? how many are doing IF from this thread and we should all post our experiences so others might learn or have a light bulb moment. You know? I def think your weight gain is beer related and if you go clean for the next 3-4 days you will be down those 4 and who knows, maybe another one as well? UGGGGGH on the late night food runs! I swear I thought about you as we were sitting in Taco Bell last night. LOL. -

Damn. I'm all over the board on this. It's such a learning curve! This is an enlightening interview with Dr. Jason Fung MD (nephrologist). Now I'm back to wanting to do a 24 hour fast today. And he says there is hope for loose skin!!! Autophagy=the body will lose it's lose skin and recycle the unneeded extra skin. But it takes longer fasts to do that. mTor regulates autophagy and it's turned off by protein and senses nutrients in your body. -

Ok, well the OMAD thing is not for me. First of all I flunked and it set me up to be bad--with kind of a binge rebound (involving Taco Hell crispy tacos). *sigh* First off by the time I got to Outback I was Starvin Marvin (at 5pm--first meal). And the lobster was tiny--like 2oz cooked. So I ate some of Mr. F's prime rib, but felt bad about it, so I probably only ate 1.5oz total. Which "should" have been enough, except I also shared a little of his salad and a couple bites of broccoli. And it would have filled most of you--but not my beast of a tummy. And the food was crappy, and so expensive, I didn't want to order anything else. By 9:30 after trivia was over and a glass of wine in my bellah (btw, the wine is bye-bye for a while now--until Mr. F's birthday next month)--I was ready to sacrifice and devour small animals. Nothing would stop me from my appointed rounds!!! I ate 2+ crispy tacos. Calories for the day were well over my limits and I'm up a lb today. I deserve it--even though I walked yesterday. So I think what works best for me is doing my consistent meals. I may not do as "big" of a production for each meal, but I think I will get my 3 meals in over the 14/10 to 16/8 timeframe and continue to do ADF calorie restriction. I have done well with it in the past. And as much as I want to be one of you 20/4 or 23/1s, I can't make it work. It opens up the binge monster which I avoid at all costs whenever possible!! -

My Fitness Pal (MFP). You can fill in the day and scroll all the way down to the bottom where it says printable version. Click on it and it gives you that capture. Then do a screen shot of it and save it. Not to dissuade you but I think you should be at the minimum 4-6months out before even contemplating IF. At Stage 3 you are eating such small portions and so few calories. But if your diet is sloppy, then for sure clean it up and make sure you're following your surgeon's example. At stage 3 I was still eating baby meals (size-wise) and eating 6 times a day just to satisfy my protein needs. I was also only getting about 500-600 cals I think. -

Awww Matt! I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I hate that desperate feeling of not knowing if you're doing the right thing with what you eat! Maybe this is just leftover water/glycogen stores from the weekend and if you give it 4 good days, they will come back off? ((hugs)) and hang in there! It's. So. Hard!!! Don't give up. Keep on swimming!!! -

Ok, so ty for the birthday wishes! Had a great day (no IF--no UP or DD days lol). But I actually was pretty good all things considered and although I'm still up the 1.4lbs from the weekend, I'm not up from yesterday. So I will count that as a win. I'm still stuck at 161.8lbs today. This actually doesn't bother me too much since I suspect this is a set-point for me from a long time running. The last time I weighed 160lbs was almost 19 years ago! And I was at that weight for a very long time. I'd weighed in the 150s (and briefly, the 140s) in high school. I was an athlete and had monster muscles--especially in my thighs and butt--of course that was very unpopular back then...go figure. So I'm pretty sure this will be a tough decade to break out of and through past the 150s. But I'm setting my jaw to get down to TCB. LOL. After today. Today is my REAL birthday--we just celebrated with the sissies yesterday cuz my big sis was in town for it. Soooooooooo, I get a real live dinner date with Mr. F. tonight. I think we're going to Outback Steakhouse cuz it will be really easy to be good there and I think they have a steak and lobster special for $14.99 or something crazy like that. I'm actually toying with doing an OMAD day. I'm about to rev up the YouTube to see if I can find some women who do OMAD and see if there are any studies attached to it for women. Most of the studies on this stuff are done on men. And we all know we are so different in how IF affects us! I quickly put some numbers together. If I can eat 7oz of protein, I'm in the 50g of protein for the day area. If I could also drink 3oz of Premier on the way to dinner--I'll either kill my appetite or boost the protein ingestion! LOL. I'm pretty sure that would be ALL I was eating! But for grins I did throw a few lettuce leaves and blue cheese dressing numbers around! I know I've eaten 7-8oz by weight in a meal before--so my thought is that I will use this as an experiment to see just how much dense protein I can eat in a meal--eating protein first. If I fall short of my protein goals for the day--well--it would only be for one day. But if I can do it without overeating and stretching my pouch, then OMAD might be something I could/would consider. I used to do it when I was in college all the time. But I didn't know anything about protein reqs at that time! -

Yes! I hear ya! That's why I really try to eat a LOT of leafy greens and veggies daily!!! And why I limit my consumption of red meat--staying only protein adequate. I try to eat mostly chicken, fish of all kinds, shrimp, turkey, a tiny bit of pork and tiny bit of beef--not even weekly. I also eat fairly small-ish amounts of dairy compared to most. Wish I could give it up completely--but I'm just not ready to do that yet. But sadly--my oncologist says that I must avoid anything soy based--the biggest source of plant protein and one of the biggest phytoestrogens. And if you look at the quantities of veggie based proteins--they have scarily HUGE numbers/quantities of phytoestrogens (plant estrogens)--this is especially true of: legumes, beans, seeds, nuts, hemp hearts, chia seeds. And he is of the belief that I need to just lose the weight--try to avoid meats with hormones, go lower dairy, and avoid as much phytoestrogen sources as I can--especially soy and flax. And did I say lose weight to get to normal weight? haha! He wrote the book (literally) on breast cancer that is used in med schools and is one of the leading researchers in Tamoxifen and breast cancer. He does specialize in hormone positive cancers which I am currently in remission from and am being treated with Femara (an anti-hormone blocker--endocrine therapy). Big hugs to your friend!!!! I pray that she is successful in keeping the beast at bay. It sounds like she is working hard at it!! -

Honey. I'm really glad to see you going back to embracing your vegetarian/vegan roots. I think you have to do you. I honestly do. Taking that other stress away is infinitely important!!! Maybe you will explore and find room there for some tiny bit of compromise--maybe things like eggs or fish -- and maybe not. Meh. You will figure it out. You are one smalrt cookie and you know your body best!!! (Maybe I'll lift a cup or two of Smooth Move in your honor today! )One thing I do know from reading the current studies--is that fiber, especially prebiotics/soluble fibers appear to be very important. Today. hehe--that could change tomorrow. And the other thing I know is your meals are beautiful!!! I'm a died in the wool omnivore--but I would love to join you at your table any day. GORGEOUS food. Love the marinade. I'm going to try that soon!!! Love that salad!
