    Pseudotumor Cerebri

Ok, not to jump your case, but you really, truly MUST know, you CAN NOT bank on "the new lifestyle will be much easier to maintain with a smaller stomach, than me being very hungry constantly like I was." Why? Cuz until you're "there," you will not possibly know how being "there" will feel or affect your appetite/hunger/head hunger. If you once had emotional eating, unless you continually work to remain in remission--you will always have it and must deal with it. I can tell you that within 1 month, my hunger was back. I had cravings as well. And worse, I could swear my surgeon didn't make my new pouch tiny enough, cuz I could eat! EAT! All around me, peeps were full on 2tbsp. I'm like, "Fu*k me!!! The surgery is an epic fail! I can eat 1/4c and maybe more!!!!" At 1 month. Right now at about 8 months (Feb.20), I could theoretically eat about 1 1/2-2cups of food if I allowed myself. I could eat 4oz of dense meat and about 1/2cup of veg. Trust me when I tell you, if I hadn't changed my wicked ways BEFORE surgery, I would have stopped losing, would probably still be obese, and would be nowhere near my goal 1 weight. The ONLY thing that is saving me and allowing me to stay on track, focused, on the prize, appetite suppressed is my diet/lifestyle which includes low carb eating and IF, my exercise that I do almost 7 days a week, my partner who encourages me, and all my friends here who are in it to win it on BP and FB. I could do TONS of damage with 1 cup of food, eating continually all day. I would quickly regain. I could do even MORE damage with 1 1/2-2cups of food. But I am practicing good, healthy, food principles and following my surgeon's rules of the RNY road. And am experiencing success. So please, please, if you aren't working with a therapist now, please look into one soon?!! So you can enjoy the success we are all experiencing!

Let's talk about date night (or gals' night or...)

We like to go for long evening walks around the different lakes in the parks here. And then we will come home and grill something together and catch up chatting...then we will usually watch something recorded or the Astros play. Sometimes we go to our neighborhood Italian hang-out where you get super cheap appetizers (1/2price) and split a caprese, then I will usually have shrimp pomodoro and spinach or broccoli, or grilled chicken and veggies. I'll have ice tea (sometimes a glass of wine) and he'll have wine and we'll visit with friends and watch the 'stros play. Saturday is usually a walk around the parks with lakes again, errands and thrifting and afternoon drives. Sometimes we'll go grab a burger (bunless with side salad for each of us--no "electives" like french fries or onion rings). We might go see friends at our neighborhood wine bar and visit and listen to music, or go to a festival--we have lots in our little town. I will have iced tea usually--if I didn't have something Friday, I may have a glass of wine. Then Sunday, another walk around the park, sometimes church, then it's back to the grind getting ready for the week, laundry, meal planning, some prep, making Sunday dinner that I use leftover meat for the week to eat...that sort of thing.
  3. Your pee pee will be fine. You won't have any knowledge of having it done except as @Matt Z said...the burn...the burn. ROFLMAO!!

Broke up with bf over this surgery.

Whahhhh????? Ok, no more time investment for me in this thread. You have a destructive pattern here in this relationship...not enough hours in my day for it...
  5. Well I started on 9.3.18 (That's 5 weeks today. ) But honestly? Mr. Fluffy had already started skipping meals a couple days a week--maybe even as much as 2-3 weeks before I caught the fire from you, @Matt Z and @sillykitty!! I should have worded that differently! But, honestly? It feels like months now!

You can do this. My recovery wasn't that bad really. By the 2nd day at home I was doing for others and making dinner for the fam. The first day, I just napped, watched tv with my sissy and Mr. F, and just was lazy--almost the same as having an out-patient simple anesthesia procedure. It honestly was no big deal and "round the clock care" is only necessary IMHO if you have some kind of complication like excessive pain, vomitting, nausea, wooziness, extreme mobility issues...etc. Good luck and so sorry about this, but honestly it's better to know this now pre-surg so you don't have to compound recovery with this mess!!! (Get him out of your house asap...just sayin...)
  7. Thanks for this study!!! IMO the reason for such a small change in lipids are because the carbs in both diets were still too high to demonstrate the superior lipid profiles from low carb/keto dieting. I'm sure we can expect a visit from the Coven, erp, I mean Summerset or Creek to vilify me and hound one of my posts where I mention ketogenic or low carb diets or restricting carbs as a means of controlling lipids and improving weight loss. LOL. Geeze, you'd think I'm the one making up these dietary findings...*snort*
  8. Can you screen shot what you were reading and post it as a pic here?
  9. But, actually that song could be for both you, but maybe even more for @Matt Z in more ways than one IYKWIM! *snort* 🤣
  10. @Matt Z This is such a timely post! TYTYTYTY! Mr. F. has T2 and went in yesterday for his 6month doc check-up. I'm so proud of him, we've been low carb keto for a while now (with some minor misbehaving) and he's brought his A1c down from an 8 with it, but was stuck in the 6s for awhile even with Invokana + Met. He's been IFing with me for the last 6 weeks and still on his meds. We've been taking is bgs about 4 times per day to make sure he wasn't too low. And yesterday his A1c was 5.5!!!! And he told the doc he wanted to get off the Invokana and that he wants to get even more serious about IF--doing a few extended 36-72 hour fasts like Dr. Fung recommends. And the doc was very encouraging!!! He told him to quit the Invokana and watch his sugars to see when he needs to step down on the Met. He's lost about 10lbs over the last 6weeks and is now down about 71lbs over the past 18months or so. I'm so proud of him!!
  11. Gosh sounds so stressful! Going 24hours (and I bet 36 hours) can be a mind fu*k, especially at first! So you def. have to get your head in the game and mentally prep for it, but once you do it a couple of times, it suddenly becomes pretty easy (24 hour fast I mean--I'm gonna start a 36 hour on Monday).
  12. I'm not sure it would be that bad after doing 24 hour fasts. You would theoretically eat your last meal (normal size--good protein) at 8pm, then the next day just drink water, black coffee, black or green tea, no sweeteners, and by 8pm that night you're already at 24 hours! I did that yesterday and it was only a "tiny" bit challenging at around 3:30-4pm, then the hunger disappeared. Then you stay busy, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and go to bed. Wake up, have coffee, go to work, and eat your first meal at 8am. 36 hours. Done baby!!!!!
  13. *chants 36 hour fasts, 36 hour fasts* I think you should push it, really hard and doooooo eeeeettttt! You've got the powah!!! Go Matt, Go! Go Matt, Go! Eat meat, don't cheat! hehehe
  14. Congrats on your amazing weight loss and now on building muscle. That is not easy to do at our age!! (Or indeed any age). And thanks for inspiring me to get physical. You and @skinnylife are my role models! You are both so fit and healthy and it looks like you just love life. I want to be y'all! I'm glad you are working with a dietician who understands athletes and bariatrics! Thanks for sharing your food intake! So it sounds like even though it's 5.5-6oz of dense protein, that maybe you're only eating 1/4-1/2 cup of volume beyond that protein--which is probably around 2oz more. So that's about what I expect from my food weight/volume too when my tum is fully mature. BTW, I'm betting you still flit in and out of ketosis at 100g of carbs at your workout level... Wooohoooo, love fat levels being down!!!

    Non Scale Victories

Have you seen these? THere's a vid on FB where it shows them being pulled from regular hipsters to this compression on the tummy/waist trainer! https://shapermint.com/collections/shapewear/panties
  16. Good luck on the endo tomorrow!! Yah, IF makes clears only a proverbial POC. Congrats on hitting back at 214.7!!! You're so close to 200!!!
  17. I couldn't even see the abstract. No account at MedScape. Can you screen shot it?
  18. Hahahaha! Ok, how many hot dog's can you eat at one sitting? LOL, ok, so how much protein (BY WEIGHT, not volume) can you eat comfortably then? Like that you normally, typically serve yourself without discomfort or wanting to drop trou? Are you saying your routinely eat 4oz by weight at a meal? Cuz I think you are! hehehehe.
  19. I'm 56. Was 55 at surgery.

    Finding foods is hard

Does anyone REALLY need highly processed cereal? If you want carbs, then eat unprocessed whole grains! I could do great recipes with things like bulgar, quinoa, brown rice, farrow, wild rice, barley, kamut, millet, gluten free oats, etc.

9 months post op Just had baby!

Oh and 75% Cacao Chocolate Bars from Lindt. They are VERY low sugar and lowish carb in moderation and have a lot of magnesium. Combine with 10g of almonds and maybe a couple of frozen blueberries??? DAYUM hold me. I need a moment! Just 1 square satisfies any desire for rich sugary dessert! Especially with its little friends: almonds and frozen blueberries.

9 months post op Just had baby!

I'd forget the shakes and just concentrate on ditching any snacky treats--carby, processed junk. And I'd eat protein first very dense protein, plus your fill of low glycemic veggies, healthy fats, and maybe a few berries now and then to break monotony if it rises up. ((hugs)) You did splendidly. Congrats on losing while brewing a healthy kid!!!
