    Appetite

    Normal. Embrace it.
  3. Can't wait to see how this week goes compared to your last weeks! I love that you feel in control. Yay on having normal B/L/D!!! Maybe you are beginning to trust the new you? LOL on loving roller food! But totally get loving pizza and fried chickie! hehe! me=southern girl... Had a great roadtrip, went to the Hill Country, Fredericksburg, and Kerrville. Gorgeous country and too much fun! Doc hasn't figured anything. Will have ultrasound and UGI next Wednesday. Meh...it's not a big deal. Just swiggin some Carafate and trying to keep up with the IF. Prolly just irritated esophagus from a bad calcium pill swallow where I felt it scratch, or maybe a gallbladder on it's way out. Who knows? It's all good! ((hugs)) @GreenTealael I'd vote you becoming a personal chef!!!!

    To much for a meal?

Until just recently when I started actively feeling "full cues" with a meal, knowing how much was "safe" for me to eat, and how much I "was allowed" to eat without stress and still lose, were the only things that kept me from continual stress and repeatedly questioning everything I ate and the amounts! LOL. This way, I know if my plate is only 5-6oz of whole foods, and I satisfy my protein and hydration amounts, I can eat the meal, finish it with a clean plate, and go about my merry way until the next meal. When it gets up to 7oz, it's dependent on what it is--salads? No prob...dense beef or one pot meals? Big trouble...

    Food Before and After Photos

Bahahahahaha! Well, I don't know, do you pimp out your ice cream with all the lovely healthy, beguiling stuff you put on your cottage cheese??? I want to rent your cottage cheese bowls by the hour they look so come-hither! But yeah, I totally get it! I'd rather have my cc/yog concoctions than a bowl of ice cream too. And it started the very day after surgery! It's not that I don't get cravings for behaving cravenly. It's just that for the most part, I truly desire clean food. Sounds and looks like you do too! Thanks for this thread girlie and for the inspirations!!

    To much for a meal?

So you already KNOW the answer to your "kinda question" and it's not really about the breakfast...which is fine from a 9months out perspective (at least my 9mo perspective). 2 large eggs is roughly 100g by weight +/- a few grams. 1 piece of toast is roughly 28g=1oz by weight usually. So that is about 128g/28.35=4.5oz by weight of food. I routinely eat about 6-8oz of food by weight per meal. I try very very hard to only eat 2-3 meals per day and to not snack. Most days I win, some days I lose and lose big. LOL. I'm about 9 months out too (Feb 20 RNY). But knowing my volume is so large, I'm super careful to track and log my food and to also plan it out and have set calorie/macros that I target on any given day-- keeping carbs judicious and low. I eat 3-4oz of dense protein first, and try for about 3oz of veg split between cooked veg and raw salad stuff. I do eat lower fat since I still have plenty of residual fat on my ass to supplement my lean protein and veg. LOL. Congrats on 9 months and on continuing to seek your answers to life-long weight loss!!! Keep going!!!

    Food Before and After Photos

So weird how we crave new stuff after the surgery. I ate rich food all weekend and felt truly AWFUL after every meal--like "I gotta lay down for a couple hours awful..." And now the only things that sound good today are things like lean white fish, shrimp, chicken broth, shrimp, white fish...lol...cauliflower rice. These are the only things I know I can eat that won't make me feel like I wanna hurl afterward!
  8. The smoothies sound delicious! Especially with the avocado in it. YUM. It's official...my body is fu*ked in the wazoo. There is NO, repeat ZERO rhyme or reason for why I gain or lose. Zero. When I came back from the weekend, I think I wrote down I was 157.4? Or 157.8, can't remember without looking, but ugh! I'd eaten crap all weekend--coupled with some smart choices and good protein, but still...crap, none-the-less. Then Monday was halfway ok--not good by any stretch, but eating less cuz you know, well...eat, feel icky, eat, feel icky, rinse and repeat--had to fast for the doc appt. Ate ALL. THE. THINGS. Yesterday. I had a hungry hungry heifer day. And if I saw food, I ate it--including an Atkins candy protein bar late last night. This morning I wake up and I'm now down to a new low 153.8lbs. I got off the scale and re-weighed 3 times. The take away is that weight loss isn't linear--so Matt, you absolutely can and probably will have a whoosh that will get you back up to speed, hon!!! Hang in there to all of us. Scales make zero sense. None. Today I'm def doing a 24 hour fast and I'm gonna try for a 36hour. Don't know if I will make it...but I figure after all the food stores I put away in my ass yesterday and this weekend, it should theoretically be doable. *snort*. I'm kind of bizarrely excited to be trying this and giving eating a rest. Weird.
  9. Yes, I think so? You probably should ask you doc? I don't know how far out you are, but frankly, I wouldn't do IF until you're at least 6 months post op and fully eating foods and maybe even 75% or more toward goal and having issues losing...but that's just me...
  10. Yummy!!!! WTG on the IF!!! Such gorgeous healthy meals! Now gimme that salmon and espinaca!

How do you know when your full?

Full does feel different now. I also didn't feel "full" (the new feeling) for several months post RNY. Instead, I only served the portion that I was "allowed" to eat according to my stage of recovery. I got this average information on portion size from my RD. And I just would not go beyond it. But, if I happened to lose interest along the way--I quit eating. (um, something that didn't happen very often. ha. yay me. ) Now I do have the feeling of, "OK, let's quit eating now." Or sometimes its, "Wow, I shouldn't of had that last bite! I gotta go lay down, STAT!" I just try very hard to stop it at the "Ok, let's quit eating now stage."
  12. More importantly, what does your RD or doc's office say about your diet at 6 weeks? They are all SO very different! I was eating about 1/4-1/3c of food at 6 weeks and anything I wanted. About 2oz of food.

    Today marks 1 year!

Congrats dude!! You look amazing and so dang healthy and happy!! Be proud!!
  14. ^^^^This^^^^ Long live those cocksu*kers. Er, I mean cheesy poofs. Long live 'em.
  15. @GreenTealael Just me, and maybe a slippery slope for you, but if these chickie fingers were worth walking uphill both ways through the rain while PMSing, you TOTALLY deserved to have them. Sorry you're going through hell week! But we know you will make it great with the IF helping out! Woot! Congrats on reaching your weight range!!!! @Matt Z Wahhhhooooo congrats big time on being 12 lbs from your big goal!!! I really believe you can still pull out a victory in 28 days!!! That's less than a 1/2lb per day and you're a dude! You go, man!!!! Dooooooo eeeettttt!!! @sillykitty Yiiiiipppppeeeeeee!!! So happy you got through your business trip without a gain--with a loss! Even better!!! That's outstanding. Are you now on your vacation yet?? Can't wait for piccys on that and to hear how you're doing! To all the other little friends who hang with us, come on out and play!!! Start IFing with us. We want to hear from you even if you'r not IFing!!! *** Ok, so I haven't IF'd since last week. I did some loose 14:10's but that's about all I can claim. I did a 16:8 yesterday. I came back up at 157.8lb, but today I'm 156lbs, so who know where it will settle out. I have bad lymphedema going in my arm. Meh. It happens on every trip. No worries. I also may have some gallbladder or some kind of issue. Don't know what it is yet, so am not gonna waller on about it and yammer, cuz it's probably just an irritated esophagus. No big whoop--no carryin' on or attention-seeking needed. Will let you know as I have test results if it turns into anything. I'm sure it won't. It never does. I'm doing a 24hour IF tomorrow with Mr. F. I may try to parlay it into a 36 or 42 hour fast. It should be relatively easy...except I ate ALL. THE. FOOD. in Kerrville and Fredericksburg this weekend. They are flat out of food. The end.
  16. I can't imagine how your doc thinks you can handle a big pill with a dx'd stricture. Here's a link to liquid carafate. https://www.rxlist.com/carafate-suspension-drug.htm#description
  17. Sorry to hear all this. How did they visualize the ulcers in your jejunum. My surgeon said after RNY she wouldn't be able to see anything beyond the stoma from the inside perspective inside the tummy pouch. Also I just got prescribed liquid carafate today. It makes your poo black. You should ask for it. No way can I swallow a big pill right now. Feel better soon.
  18. Good morning dearies!! Sorry to be MIA--Mr. Fs BD roadtrip (which is much better than a VD roadtrip. LOL). Great reports all--will be back later to post. Am out the door to the doc to check on some tummy issues I'm having. (Oh and I found the lbs kitty escaped. 🤨😟
  19. Girlfriend, bahahahaha! You are not a member of that coven but as @GreenTealael says, you ARE a member of our coven! I don't disagree with you btw. If I didn't have the level of deep doodoo in my metabolism, and neither did Mr. F., I don't know if I would be doing low carb/keto-ish. I would likely be doing Mediterranean or something like that--cuz I love eating that way. And I adore beans and legumes. But my insulin numbers tell me differently and if I eat those things, then my insulin does shoot up and so does my bgs...and so does Mr. F. But I've said it all along, there are Many, Many, Many paths to the finish. And the best path for you is the one that you can do forever without feeling discontent. I will go out there and say "some carbs are evil" and very unhealthy for us...no one in their right mind needs Cheerios, unless it's to use as their emotional support animal. LOL. But hey, if you do well with wheat berries, or oatmeal, or the rustic oats (forget the name), or fill-in-the-blank of your favorite unprocessed, whole grain, potato, brown rice, wild rice, basmati, etc...and I will hop on that train with you to cheer you on. I do envy those people. I just know I cannot do it, even if my will power holds out and let's me "eat in moderation." Sadly, magic for me always comes with a price--and that price is gonna be either higher bgs, or higher insulin. (And that's not to say I'm a saint either...we all know I have had and do have my fair share of cheats with bread, contraband, crappy carbs, etc, etc, etc! hahahaha--I can only hope to keep it to a very, very minimum and hope like hell it doesn't fu*k me or Mr. F. up down the road. I'd hate to lose a kidney cuz of my cheesy poof addiction.

    SMH

Ok, sue me on this y'all. Please skip if it's already been posted somewhere in the first 11 pages!! (And be sure to add that one to the SMH list. But, peeps who feel sufficiently motivated to post a question, concern, update, whatevs...usually seeking advice--and people answer--and they come back with an excuse that makes it sound like they've got it all "figured out" and don't need your's or anyone's input. Like, "Kthnxbuhbye" sorta behavior. LOL. Like Mr. Wonderful--"You're dead to me! Good luck--you'll need it!" *snort*

Let's talk about date night (or gals' night or...)

^^^^^THIS!!! bahahahahahaaha!! We sometimes go to trivia night on Tuesdays!! So fun! They also have it at the library! Go figure!
  22. Many insurances require you to be in a Circle of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery Hospital. Not all hospitals qualify for that...it's very specific. Also, typically, you are not allowed to miss any appointments or you start over from the first day. Also you should qualify with ins based co-morbidities of diabetes and possibly on high BP if you are on 3 meds for it and it's still high. Otherwise, 36BMI is at the cusp of not getting in. If you have to wait 6 months to do your pre-op visits with the RD, monthly, and you go below 35BMI, you are screwed and will be denied. That's just from a lay perspective, I am not an insurance specialist. It's a very grueling and stressful process and filled with "Will I's or Won't I's". Keep plugging.
