Glass of wine week 5 post op

Good girl. Decaf coffee and hot tea work well too. Also, put water with lemon or lime wedges in a footed wine glass and add ice out the ying yang! So it feels like you're being festive!! And with your tummy issues, I'm gonna say it...it would NOT be your finest choice to make...
  2. Yum!!! Spill it! What kind of turkey breast and are the apples Gala or Jazz? Too small for Honeycrisp. Right? Gosh makes me want apples now! I have 2 GS in the fridge...*impure thoughts* (on the downhill stretch to dinner time AND cooking bacons for "mah boy". ROFLMAO!!!
  3. Prepare for suckage hon...but swearsies...it gets better quickly!
  4. Hell I thought you were making like Benjamin Buttons! All that morning cardio you're doing and all! hahaha Your granddaughter is beautiful! And so is the amazing costume!!!
  5. @redhead_che Welcome!!!! Welcome! So happy to see you here and really hope you like it!!! I hope our other IFing friends will be here soon to give you great info/advice! I think 16:8 is a great place to start! Not eating dinner at first will suck like nobody's beeswax. LOL!!! ((hugs)) But you can do it!!! Especially if you have hot coffee/hot tea that sort of thing. And if you had to, a little clear broth (bone or otherwise). And the good news? After the few 2-3 days it DOES get easier as your body starts to fall into a pattern with the insulin!!! We're proud of you too! You look gorgeous and your loss is so inspiring girl!!!!
  6. Yeah for sure! And isn't gritty either. Also, you can "cook" with it! hahaha (um no I did not just say mug cake...who am I foolin'? I DID TOO say mug cake. Damn *sigh* now I want a mug cake!) Oh, I also love the Vanilla Ice Cream (I think that was the name?) and the chocolate too!
  7. Before Premier and Isopure, I used this stuff for years. I think it's really great tasting! Thanks @Alex Brecher!
  8. Welcome to the boards. I'm sorry for the loss of your mom! ((hugs)) Just do tons of research and ask LOTS of questions--of us, your doc/team, etc! You'll know what's right in the end. I just wanted to add about your mom...I had to force myself to eat during cancer treatment. I was pretty young-ish at dx with a 3C breast cancer. Different animal and likely much different treatment than your mom had, but I had 3 months of very high dose chemo, 33 or 35 (can't remember now) radiation treatments and multiple surgeries. I did make myself eat, and eat healthy stuff during that time, but also fasted for treatment reasons. Had terrible mouth issues, so I don't know if this info helps ease your pain of some of what she endured in order to fight, but IMHO, I think someone receiving the therapies your mama did would have issues with eating. I'm now healed and can eat way more than enough now to support life very easily, without trying. But if I have to go through a recurrence and treatment, I know my desire for food will go again and eating will be something that I endure and a real challenge to make happen. Maybe that will ease some of your burden from your decision? ((hugs))

    Low libido HELP!

Yay!!!! Good for you!!! Now go buy a "toy" too! Although toys can de-sensitize you to a lot else. So it's a win/lose...I'd just continue with the um "au natural" stuff with LUBE. (am I yelling? ) hehe Ohhhh and maybe we should start a romantic erotic movie thread for women! LOL, you know, where we give our favorite visual movies for um "romance" and getting in the mood. (Talk about me all you want, but the love scene in Top Gun and Ghost are among my faves and get the motor running! IYKWIM? hehehehe)
  11. Drivin' the bus, I tell ya. Drivin' the bus... straight to The Hells! hahahaha (when ya get here, look me up, I've got a nice couch by the fire and the temp is lovely and warm! )

    I Want a Cheese Enchilada.

Yes, I agree, you will be able to eat them again (hopefully)! One thing, I'm using my honeymoon period to do--we are all different, so many of you guys don't have my "unhealthy" connection to food. LOL. I make "healthy" quick deconstructed enchiladas. I always have cooked cubed or sliced chicken, turkey taco meat, etc in the freezer and so I just make long thin slices of zucchini (like on FB) and use 3 slices as a "tortilla". Fill it with chicken, onion, some cilantro--sprinkle with Mexi spices, and top with pre-made enchilada sauce and a bit of cheese. You can also make cheese version using 2% Kraft Deli Deluxe (1/2 slice inside with onion will do it for ya), then top the "zucchini tortilla" with enchilada sauce and cheese. Bam! Broil until cheese is melty and enjoy! No guilt. No extra pounds. But even those are a tiny bit away until you heal more and are cleared for foods! Hang in there.

    Need help week 5

Ok, so there's your cue!!! You are beyond stopped up would be my guess. Time for "colon blow 2000" !!!! But I'd be sure your doc and team know what's going on...cuz it could be SO many things rather than just "simple" constipation or backup. That's pretty serious stuff if nothing is coming out!! If it were me: I'd start with trying MOM (Milk of Magnesia) unless it would nauseate me more...in that case, I'd go for either a Fleet's Enema or a Glycerin Suppository. They work so well for me!

    Pouch Reset/Back to Liquids?

Sorry you're having a rough patch girlie!!! ((hugs)) I think there are several "camps" with differing opinions on the value of the liquid protein reset. But you know? If you were a noob and didn't know what works for you, then I'd prolly jump in and give my 2 cents. But you aren't. You KNOW you. You know your needs. I think there's nothing wrong with doing this like @GreenTealael said. It's basically a "protein" fast of sorts. Meh. NBD. Try it! If it works well for you, then you know it's a plan that can be a useful strategy for you down the road if necessary. If not, then you can always try diff things. I started IFing when I felt like I was really slowing down on weight loss and losing my motivation and drive. Luckily for me Green, sillykitty and Matt were already doing IF and (so was Mr. F), so it made it easy. I really like it. Don't know if that could also be a tool for you down the road. Let us know your results ok? Like if you feel your restriction better, if it stops your craving for contraband, and also the weight loss ok? Wish I had 1st hand knowledge of doing it so I could share!

    Need help week 5

Welcome! Sorry you are experiencing this! Also be aware that sometimes vitamins can make ya hurl! I always take mine on top of food (after I've eaten). At 5 weeks, I was cleared for anything, with the advice to progress at my own pace--there was no rush. I supplemented my protein needs to get between 60-80g per day using protein drinks--I wasn't lactose intolerant though. I know there are some good proteins out there, but if you can handle mushies, I'd try if I was you, to get as much protein in as possible through real food: soft mushy proteins, well-cooked veg. And stick with things you know you tolerate, adding a new thing every few days. Make sure you are also well-hydrated. Sometimes dehydration can make you nauseated (as can constipation)!! Yikes! So nauseated! But once you clear the block and get really well-hydrated, the nausea can often recede! Hope that helps!! Post often!

Forbes: Why high protein diets may be linked to Cancer

Please Please everyone, follow your doctor's and RDs plan for your pre-op and post-op lifestyle that is appropriate to your particular level of healing, and also, please do your own research! Just to clarify the OP's "facts" for all bariatric patients: Here is the actual study that this inflammatory article was written from. https://www.cell.com/cell-metabolism/fulltext/S1550-4131(14)00062-X The ACTUAL study was an association study (and association can not prove causality) where the people were NOT like bariatric patients. They had normal stomachs, averaged 1853 cals per day and were eating a mixed diet of HIGH CARBS and higher-erish fat. They were able to eat the following macros: 1853 Calories per Day on Average=the studied group of participants total caloric load each day: 16% protein (average "normal diet composition" from the ADA is somewhere around 15% of the diet from protein) - about 74g of protein per day. (this is NOT a high protein study) Other macronutrients consumed each day: 51% carbohydrate (this is a high carbohydrate study) 33% fat (this is a study with the fat too high for people consuming 51% of their diet as glucose/carb burners)

    Gas

Hope you feel better soon. For me, walking was the best remedy (along with the incentive spirometer) for the gas and shoulder pain. LOL, the tummy gurgles will be your companion for a little while ahead. Don't think of them as gas gurgles, think of them as your little friend who lives inside your new anatomy!
