You know confidence is built upon repetition and mastery of something. It can take upwards of 10000 hours to become a master at something. That's a LOT of cardio "practice"! Keep experimenting and growing and honing your craft and experience. Confidence is imminently attractive to guys!!

    3rd day post op

Totes norms. Thin the soup, adjust temp of the soup, go back to protein drinks for a while...change the soup. But respect the pain and know whatever it is, it's too soon for that one. Congrats on surgery!

    Struggling to stay with it.

^^^^^^^This. A million times. Go back to basics (not your liquid phase--your "Diet For Life" phase) and throw out the crap. No snacks. No "treats". No eating with "moderation". At this point, if you want to lose, you have to knuckle down and let your tool help you really get strict...then you can refigure out a new maintenance strategy cuz you know your present one isn't working. I too would dump all crap, processed junk, and as many junkie carbs as possible and concentrate on dense protein, healthy fats and if still hungry, the crap loads of leafy low glycemic greens and low glycemic veggis and healthy fats to fill your calories. I'd also look at going back to about 800cals per day to lose and get your 60-80g of dense protein FROM food. But I would def contact your doc's team and get in touch with a therapist and maybe RD. And track every bite. Regain can be lost! I've seen tons of successful vets do it!!!

Hahahaaha! Two words: Dark Rooms LOL, it reminds me of an episode of Cougar Town where Courtney Cox's character had to "control" her environment for "beneficial viewing" merits.

    Hangry

Pound that water and schedule so that you are "drinking" something every 2 hours. So like 1 of those "drinking" events might be bouillon for me. And one might be a SF popsicle. I tried to do it so I only had 2 bouillons and 2 popsicles max. Oh and we got SF jello, so I had 1 of those at night before bed. So it would sit heavy with me. You can do this. It does improve after about day 3-4!!! Think of the prize. Eyes on the prize!

  15. I swear from 3 weeks on, I had considerable hunger. And I too could eat more than I should. So I didn't. I closely followed my doc's post-op plan to the letter of the law, including quantities. And I at 3 weeks I was eating 3 meals + 1 snack + 4oz Premier Protein snack (cuz that was my doc's plan). I was on softies (not mushies). I ate 1/2cup of food per meal and I weighed everything that went into the cup. I did experience hunger and I just had to rein myself in and deal with it. That sounds hard-hearted, but I did and do still have to practice tough love on my wayward self. Cuz I didn't "accidentally" find myself at the Obesity Ball, I ate myself into a lifetime invitation to it whether I'm in a "skinny dress" or my "tent." So I had to accept like @GreenTealael that hunger is part of life. And just cuz we're hungry, does not mean we must eat. I learned that hunger passes and does not build in intensity if left unfed. I learned that if ignored, hunger goes away and is less the next time. I learned that if I fed hunger, it would continue to grow. I had REAL hunger too, plus significant head hunger and cravings. I just had to deal. It sux. Honestly. But now it's so much better. Also, you could be having extra acid that is masquerading as hunger. It can make you feel hungry. But I would really encourage you to weigh and measure your food and eat no more than 1/2c per meal with 1 or 2 very tiny meals or a protein supp to make your protein goal. Also thirst MUST be dealt with or it will make you feel hunger. I would drink a cup or more of water every time I felt hunger. Good luck on finals!!

  18. Dear Newbie, I'm not a vet--only going on 10months post op RNY. But here is the #1 rule of WLS, like think of it as the eleventh commandment. ELEVENTH COMMANDMENT OF WLS - If you want all to go well in your world, you will learn to pound drink water like nobody's beeswax. Whahhhh???? You don't like water? Then you probably should choose a different road to Thinville. Seriously. Learn to drink BEFORE your surgery. Practice sipping from a 1oz jigger, every 15 minutes...then every 10 minutes...then every 5 minutes, until you can drink up to 4oz of water every 15-20 minutes. And btw? I mean WATER. Learn to tolerate it now without a crapton of MIO or whatever the fork you think you need to add to it. Use a slice of citrus, let some strawberries sit in the water, or a slice of orange. But drink it without man-made whackadoodle sweet crap. Why? Cuz after surgery, your life WILL depend on it--more than ever. And best part? If you stay VERY well hydrated, then you poop better, your nausea rate goes down, it's easier to eat, you heal better, you make better/rational decisions, and you can TCB (take care of bidness), but best of all--you mobilize and move out fat stored in your fat cells. Signed Sincerely, The Water Board
  19. So does mine. We're Catholics. Every Friday. And extra during Lent and other Holy weeks. Ain't religion great?

Oh God! Now you're just rubbing it in! I have to have an esophageal manometry test today to test motility and can't have anything to drink (not even water) from midnight last night to 1pm today. Hold me...my preciouses...(aka decaff and water)...my preciouses...

    Keto

I do IF (intermittent fasting) as well as a low carb approach. It is "defacto" keto, even though I some days eat 40-50g of total carbs, my net (minus fiber) may be between 25-30g net carbs. I can assure you I am in ketosis. I do keep my fat lower cuz I don't tolerate it very well right now. I met 1st goal (150lbs) at 8.5 months and am 9lbs away from 2nd goal. I hope to reach that in about 30-45 days. Then beyond to Goal #3 which will be end goal and I don't know where that will end up. I hope somewhere around 125-130lbs. I eat about 2 meals per day, sometimes 1, sometimes 2 meals + small snack. Here was yesterday's plan. It was whacky. I normally have way more veg on there and usually have a daily salad, but I'd fasted for 39hours the day before and was very hungry for fat and protein--so I ate it:

    Uhhhhh!!!I'm so ready for change

Gosh so many great responses here! As others have said, it's your journey--not theirs. I think also, not only are our loved ones fearful for the future for us, they do have ignorance of the procedures, and then they also feel a lack of control, so it makes them nuts and it's hard for them to hear our endless chatter about things. That's why BP is so great! Chatter away! We know where you are coming from and understand--plus we love people who do endless chatter--it's entertaining! If you are sick of your life as you are now and are embracing and enthusiastic about the changes ahead. I'd say you are ready. I was at that point. It's not an easy ride and it's not magic bean surgery. IT's HELLAH work. I mean harder than you can comprehend. And you have to have a take no prisoners focus and attitude to see it through to the end... Welcome to the boards. Let the party begin. (Oh and I told very few about my surgery. Less 'splainin' to be done.)
