  1. Mine does too. The bastage. So far the thing that works here is hot decaff coffee (black) and hot herbal teas (black or green). I think it's the bitterness maybe that quenches any craving for wine for me?
  2. Cool! I'm gonna make the PB cookies for Mr. F. this weekend. I'll freeze them to have on hand for him. Sometimes he will get a sweet tooth and want a little bite of something. I'm gonna try making it with the PB Slim powder and maybe egg whites (to see how low I can get em in cals!--cuz we don't need the extra fat around here). Might add a bit of WF Marshmallow Dip for the sweetener. I know...eek!!! I bet it is the fat...but magnesium tests are sometimes false. And the dried fruit thing just seems like...hmmm. Maybe magnesium? Why not try an epsom salt bath. Very relaxing. And you should totes get more fat, cuz of the vegetarian thing. Since we eat meat and avocados I think we have a diff situation. So funny we were posting about peanut butter at the same time this morning! Get out of mah head!!!! LOL.
  3. Yayayayayaay!!!! It's amazing how BAD TERRIBLE being dehyrated makes you feel. Seriously fu*ks with your mind! Makes you feel like you're going cray and have absolutely no control over anything in your life. That's an awesome report! Glad you figured this part out for your equation to success! 🤩
  4. Gosh! Didn't you LOVE that part! I was whooping and cheering over here!!
  5. Hey sweetie do you think you are deficient in magnesium? The cravings for dark chocolate and dried fruit really call that up in my mind. Do you ever take magnesium salt baths? Like 1-2 times per week? Safest way to absorb it...
  6. Jazz Hands! I have that channel on all the time! I've seen every movie about eleventy billion times. *snort*

    No Pain Medications

Wow! Just wow! So glad I had the surgeon I did. Made the whole experience "easy." I didn't even have gas/shoulder pain cuz they have some way to remove all the gas from you before they glued me shut. So I was expecting to die from that but it wasn't bad at all. I can't even imagine what it would be like with only tylenol. I did get: Day 1 early - Morphine/Fentanyl IV Tylenol Day 1 later - IV Tramadal Gabapentin oral IV Tylenol Day 2 - Gabapentin oral Tramadal (oral) IV Tylenol Went home by noon on Day 2. Took liquid SF Tylenol and took my Gabapentin and I think Tramadol for a couple of days at home, then started weaning off Gaba and stopped Tramadol and just had liquid Tylenol. Quit taking that around Day 4. No more pain meds.
  9. Dang! I haven't had peanut butter in a while. I usually grind my own or do Laura Scudders, but before surgery I bought a jar of creamy Skippy to make a low carb pb cookie recipe for my sissy and it's been hanging out in the pantry lurking and looking miserable. I also have peanut butter powder from Vitacost lurking around that I still add to green smoothies and yogurt. So yesterday I made up some Peanut Butter Slim (Vitacost pb powder) and added 12g of Skippy to it to make it "stickier" and had it with part of a Granny Smith apple (2oz). The apple was lovely and tart. But dang!!!! The peanut butter is so stinking sweet. I started laughing about how my taste perceptions have changed. I rarely if ever ate sweets before. Sometimes I will have a piece of 85% or 90% Lindt, or will have some stevia sweetened something. But this really gobsmacked me how sweet peanut butter tasted! Have y'all noticed anything like that with other foods?
  10. Ok, no probs! And no more advice from here. Easy peasy. I bid you good health.
  11. Not meaning to be condescending. Just stating a fact. And I'm sorry, I know EVERYONE has their own path...and I fully support that. But I do disagree with leading other newbies astray and into thinking that a "daily treat" is a good habit to cultivate. At which point you disagree which is fine, but you basically said "You know what's best." And that's true. You know for YOU whats best. But people rationalize their sh*t all the livelong day. We do. It's what got us to Morbidly Obese and got us a lifetime invitation to the Obesity Ball. Daily "treats". I will make you a bet. I bet you $10 you can't LIMIT yourself to 1 mini Reese's PB cups per day. I bet you that it will be a gateway at some point for you to go off the rails. And sadly, I will wonder if you ever managed to make it to goal. Cuz I want you to. I want EVERYBODY to. Or I wouldn't waste my time posting here to try to help newbies stay on track and get their heads in the game.
  12. And btw, glad you know better (after all 17 days of your post-op experience). I wish you luck and good fortune!
  13. A "treat" is something you have infrequently. As others have said, if it's a daily addition to your plan, then it isn't a treat by definition. It's part of your eating plan. I know of ZERO doctors who author into their post op dietary plans: "...and patients my have a daily treat." Most are pretty hard line, don't fu*k your honeymoon period up. Knuckle down, tow the line, and get 'er done. LOL. Webster treat noun Definition of treat (Entry 2 of 2) 1a : the act of providing another with free food, drink, or entertainment dinner will be my treat b : an entertainment given without expense to those invited 2 : an especially unexpected source of joy, delight, or amusement seeing her again was a treat
  14. Just curious, were you "press-ganged" into having this surgery? I ask cuz in your original post you mention "I hate this life I am now forced into."? What did you think would be different once you had surgery? Did you receive any pre-surgical instruction from your RD or surgical team? I ask because everyone's team is so diff! I had 6 months of in-depth work with the RD and my doc and doc's team and eating, and can still go see the RD whenever I need to do a tune-up--for the next 5 years. LOL. I went in with my eyes open and was relieved to have the opportunity of the change it represented and happy about the chance to live a normal, healthy lifestyle. I think therapy is an awesome thing to do!!! For everyone!
  15. It's a mindset. And you did good! You just have to keep doing it. Remember, they aren't on a diet or choosing WLS, you are. So it's up to you to change you, not necessarily them. However, if you are the mommy/wife, feel free to try to improve everyone's eating/relationships with food if you can. But remember, if it gets hard, remove yourself from the action. Go for a walk, go in the other room, play a game on your phone, go watch a Hallmark Christmas movie. You can do this. One day at a time.

Kettlebells and other ways to tone a bit

Ask the doc to refer you for PT. Get them to get you a plan. Your insurance should cover it if the doc says you are medically necessary. Then you will have a framework to build upon.
  17. I second this. It totally cuts the sweetness and works for hot coffee, cold/iced coffee, and frappacinos! Oh and I like the Peaches and Cream mixed into hot or iced matcha, green tea, or peach tea. Also breakfast tea is great with it or with vanilla and chai seasonings.
  18. I'm so glad to hear this!!!!! Yay for crossing the threshhold!!!! Woootttt!!!! You're a beast! A handsome beast, but a beast!!! Errrrraaaaaaaahhhh! (That's the extent of my pisspoor cheerleading ability. ) Glad you are back at work--even though I'm sure it sucks--you know the whole need to wear clothes on a burning body thing. You got this!!! You're weight is gonna start falling off! 🦄🤩
  19. Welcome to the group! Post often, ask questions, read the thread it is loaded with vids from YouTube and articles that discuss the fine points of IF. You can also search YouTube for a ton of vids! Good luck! Make sure you are easily getting in your protein needs for the day from REAL food before trying this. And also it sure helps to run this by your doc for approval.
  20. Ok, at the risk of being hard line, I'm just gonna call the ball...the emperor's new clothes is a nekkidy birthday suit. The end. You need to FOCUS not on WHAT you can have after surgery, you NEED to FOCUS on what you will be able to NOT have--meaning, focus on the extra help this tool is gonna give you during the honeymoon period to knuckle down and get 'er done! Seriously. The kind of thinking you're having now is stinkin' thinkin' girl. When you hit maintenance, THEN you decide how your lifestyle is gonna look. But for now? You have a hard road ahead of you. You have 100big ones to lose before you get to call goal. Wanna know how many people are gonna actually pull that one off? Probably about 5% or less. You WANT to be 1 of the 5%. This is NOT magic bean surgery. Ask everyone with a regain during the honeymoon period how "everything in moderation" and having a "daily treat" worked for them. LOL. Cuz um, it doesn't. I'm tellin' you now, that I went in with a slash and burn policy. If it wasn't nutrient dense and calorically light in the shoes (lean proteins, veggies, healthy fats, a bit of low glycemic fruits/nuts/seed) it wasn't going in my mouth. And what STILL happened despite my hard work and good intentions? You still are never 100% perfect. You cheat. You cut out forget your goal for a bit and have a little hedonistic fun. And you gain weight. So then you pull up and see that extra 2lbs and decide which is more important? Maximizing this opportunity? Or the temporary pleasure you get from a mother fuc*ing daily mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. It is ABSOLUTELY up to you which path to take, how many detours, how many risky behaviors to prevent you losing 100lbs (which is hard but not impossible to do).

    More "dumping" questions

Great questions. I think @Matt Z is on the money! I also think it depends on your "definition" of dumping. You know? Cuz I don't eat more than 2oz (3oz was my all time high) of low glycemic fruits/berries at a time and I will always combine it with fat and protein. So I never get any symptoms of anything remotely like dumping. But, if I have a high fat meal or food, I can plan on extreme nausea and some epigastric "pain" and discomfort within about 30-45 minutes. I feel so bad, that I have to lay down, cover my eyes and have a cool quiet room. And it takes about 2 hours to pass. Sometimes I dry heave (can't Ralph). But I never have the usual thing that goes with it--oily loose stools. Never had 'em. So I don't know if this is a case of mild dumping, or a gallbladder fit, or just the aftereffects of RNY when eating a high fat meal/food. Oh and I haven't dared to test this with sweets other than fruits yet.
  22. Good morning! How is everyone? Let's start some hijinx! I'm going for a 20/4 fast today--or maybe a 22/2. I want to eat 2x to get in 60g of protein--or maybe eat 1x with 1 protein drink to make up the difference. @Matt Z How you feeling today? Any improvement?
