Ok, this started yesterday! I'm now 12 hours into IF. Having black coffee -
Do you have a Treat, what is it, and how often.

I want to be sure you properly manage expectations. I don't know how much research you newbies have done re:weight loss, and surely don't want to be the voice of gloom. But realistically, there is NO way you should ever portray this surgical choice as "being easy" at any time. LOL. In the early months, you STILL (most of us) fight head hunger, maybe even real hunger, plus all the emotional side effects of having one of our chief "drug" ripped from our bodies. LOL. Our relationship with food gets broken and we are forced to "deal" with our feelings. Plus there's the whole recovery from surgery/anesthesia, healing, and hormonal whackamole fluctuations that make us cry at the drop of a hat or make us feel flashpoint irrational and unexplainable anger at a given moment. Glad you're working on counseling before surgery. Good luck! -
Grew up with it and our moms calling it “sheeth” cake.
-
Sure. Why not? It’s still the same very basic recipe from the jr league and the 60s.

Please note the bolder sentence. We are not the same peeps, so I wouldn’t expect that to work. I’m sure you have something that works for u while disgusting me? Maybe vegemite and celery? 😆🤓😳😜 -
This is it but it’s pecans. Never walnuts. And it originated with a Jr League cookbook. https://asouthernfairytale.com/2010/06/21/texas-sheet-cake/

Haha and the last words on our tombstones shall be, "She died tryin'...with her white boots on." (I'm from Texas--if you're from Texas you will recognize that as Stevies's quintessential song: That's My Baby In The White Boots." Ok, so we agree to go "as long as we can without doing any harm to ourselves, others, or small animals--rodents "may" be fair game. -

I only used frozen blueberries or frozen peaches until I was cleared for all foods to include seeds. But in a pinch, you could always run it through a strainer and press it through while keeping the strained "liquid" and ditching any seeds. -
YW, but you MUST take this VERY seriously...3-6oz of vodka per day post WLS is a recipe for liver failure, cirrhosis, and death PDQ. If I'm scaring you? I intend to. No judgements here--only truth.

Stomach hurts after drinking water

Yeah, that still happens to this day if I "pound" water too fast. Agree with the trying different temps thing!! -

No rush, no pressure. You are either in or you're not. I'm honestly gonna try for 48hrs. Just to see. Plus I have my oncologist and cardiology 6mo check-ups on Wednesday and I'd like to be able to "tell the truth" on nekkidy weight. And I'm holding steady at 149.4lbs right now--after my brief GHD viewing of 148lbs. So it would be super to see 147 or even 146 on the scales. (Annnnddddd psssst, I was NOT a good nor compliant chix this weekend.) -

Sorry am laughing at the 26oz in 30 minutes part followed by the "But apparently I need to pace myself. lol. Uggggh!" LOL, not the next parts. Yes, that's probably excessive. Super sorry you are dealing with all of this AND experiencing tough issues with your home life. If your ex was toxic for you, this is a strong dose of medicine, but will be best for you and healthier in the end and you WILL get through it. The important thing is TO FEEL and EXPERIENCE it. Let yourself break down. Let yourself cry. Self-love. LOVE that you are reading that excellent book!!! Good on you! You can seek support networks like grief counseling through church (most are free), also do good things for yourself during this time! But I disagree with tracking. You are at the point now where you need to start developing those habits. If you don't know where something is broken, you'll never know the precise place to apply the tool to fix it. Tracking and logging provides that data that you need, when/if you need it. We will always need it. Cuz we all have times we go off track and need to direct our course. Also it makes you accountable to yourself. And helps you stay on plan. You still screw up. LOL. You're human. We all screw up. But something about seeing it on the screen in real life, is very sobering. Also, when Taco Bell looms, go eat 1oz of dense protein. After trying to drink your water first. My rule that I use is: If a hard boiled egg sounds appealing to you, then it's real hunger. If it isn't and instead it's something comforty? It's head hunger. I ALWAYS feed head hunger with a glass of water, or hot decaff, or hot green tea, or hot matcha. For me the hot works awesome at quenching the empty need that head hunger creates. You're doing good! Congrats on gettting through life! -

Thinking of doing a 40-48 hour fast starting tonight following dinner. Anyone want to join me? I might see if I can follow along with Dr. Bos who starts fasts on Sunday maybe? -
Have faith, don't stress, work your surgery and your doc's or RD's plan and do your part. Log and track everything. Make sure you are drinking and staying fully hydrated. And go fill in your profile information and set your weight loss ticker so we know how to respond to your questions. Welcome to the boards!

Also, you can start by only adding 2oz to your cup of anything. Love Tea's idea of low acid coffee!!!! I drink decaf, so start with 2oz which will make it very light tasting. Also vary the heat of your coffee!!! If you need it lukewarm or cold, doooo eeettt. Anything to find something that works for you for now. But if none work, then use Fairlife Milk + a 1/8 to 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, some frozen fruit and maybe even frozen spinach blended to smithereeens...and thinned down with Fairlife to the consistency you need. -

FluffyChix replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, I also love the Isopure protein powders: unflavored, dutch chocolate, vanilla (ice cream?), bananas and cream. Then I use something like coffee or tea or even Fairlife FF milk as the liquid. Now that I don't need so much liquid protein, I just use almond milk with it to make green smoothies or matcha or green tea or celestial seasonings tea or decaff. -

Thin out the protein drinks with Fairlife Milk. Or as others mention, mix with coffee and tea, make frappacinos out of them. Love bananas and cream in coffee and also love chocolate with SF peppermint torani for holiday coffee, also vanilla or the caramel with sf pumpkin spice torani is remarkable! -
Gosh. I don't even know where to start. I'm seriously concerned for you and your well being. Not just from the drinking your calorie part, but as much the alcohol (and juice) combo. Did you receive any pre-op education? Do you have a post-op dietary guideline from your doc or RD? The first place to start if you CANNOT do this on your own by accessing and applying your personal responsibility would be to see your doc, your RD and ask for a counselor PDQ. Your surgery is a tool. It's a "nail", but you are the hammer. Without your actions (repetitive and applied force), the nail does not do its job. And even then, there are MANY nails that will need to be employed to lose and maintain your weight. Not just the one nail from the surgery. Think about it. It takes multiple nails to hold up a house! WL Nails: Healthy Diet Plan WLS Exercise Relaxation Exercises and Deep Breathing Re or Balancing Your Once Toxic Relationship with Eating for Comfort or Eating Emotionally Re or Balancing Your Once Toxic Relationship With Food (making healthy choices over eating crap) Re or Balancing Your Once Toxic Relationship With Family/Friends Balancing Work Schedules and I could go on and on with the number of nails you need to act upon as the hammer, in order to keep your house level!

I love Dr. Burg!! I just found Dr. Boz last week, and she also explains it very well. She says autophagy WILL gobble up the extra skin! -
Dear Alex Santa, A year has come an gone since my last Christmas letter to you and I want you to know, I LOVED the pressies you finally got around to giving gave me this year!!! 🦄 🖕 !!!! I've been a very bad, so-so, steadily mediocre girl this year. I have only "acted out inappropriately" on the boards as a direct result of people pissing me off hanger-issues and deeply-seated psycho Mommy issues. I promise to be a better BPal. (Who am I kidding--you know once a knucklehead, always a knucklehead...) But I will TRY to be a better member of BP. I'll also try to contribute here a little more. I know I don't post very much to the Forums. So this year I only have three things on my list. Yay you! Winner Winner BP cookies and FF high protein milk dinner! For Christmas this year, I'd like: 1. To relabel this little guy emoji (but keep him cuz he's seriously cute). Label him as Jazz Hands! 2. Recruit a NEW emoji for hugs--one that actually looks sincere (not like he's seriously laughing at you). 3. World peace. Alternate 4th (Bonus Gift) 4. Please send all my leftovers to the starving kids in China. Signed Sincerely, Little Susie in BFE
