Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I think we eat all day at funerals cuz often people bring your "known favorites" in order to feel like they're doing something constructive for you--and because we all use "food for comfort" and as a drug. Good that you skipped some meals! You can always cradle a continual cup of hot tea or coffee in your hands and that will keep them (your hands) busy!! (Easier said than done, however.) MUAH! -

Don't know which to give you a bigger hug for: 1. The funeral. So sorry for your loss! 2. Having to tragically eat and snack of great contraband all day. 3. Hell week...no words. Just. No. Words! You will get back and get back on it! We'll miss you! -

Hahaahaha! True! In the South, it all subs for the "aka" that you'd use in response to someone who is dumb as a box of rocks..."Well bless your heart!" (sometimes accompanied by the lean forward upper body insincere hug) -

The Dreaded Holidays

No stress here. Taking a couple of side dishes: salad with purple onion, pomegranate seeds, prosciutto, basil and spring greens; brussels sprouts for roasting; smashed roasted cauliflower to go with our turkey. -

Here's one I haven't tried. But it looks very interesting! I'd use Vanilla Premier Protein in place of the coconut milk. And I'd use 2% Cottage Cheese (Daisy) rather than FF. -
Can I still eat Keto/LCHF after RNY or sleeve?
FluffyChix replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm post RNY. Am a long term low carber in ketosis for a long time. As @Matt Z and @CrankyMagpie shared, it is possible. I am definitely in ketosis. I am still low carb rather than calling me a keto girl. I do have to do low-er fat in order not to have bad reactions. If I eat too richly (too much fat/too much cheese) then I will get horribly nauseated and feel like I'm so ill. But I routinely eat between 40-55% fat on some days and am fine. You'd be surprised how little extra fat that represents, once you factor in the need to stay at your personal present "protein adequate level" and reduce your carbs to 20g net carbs (or total carbs) per day. I personally aim for a loose average of 30g net carbs per day mostly from leafy greens, low glycemic veggies, berries, seeds/nuts, eggs, dairy and eat very very few sugar alcohols. I do use some small amounts of liquid stevia drops. -
Of course I still have my 2nd Goal I am working toward. But other goals are: 2. Get off the last BP med and the extra potassium. 3. Restore my thyroid to good function. 4. Exercise 6-7x week with combo of cardio and strength training/muscle building (so I can tolerate more calories). 5. Continue to work on building a lovely full active life with Mr. F. 6. Maybe go back to school to become a "sensitivity counselor". *snort*

FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Morning folks. Sorry - gone all day with my 6month check-ups! Good news is that I have another 6 months under my belt of "dating NED" and am good for another 6months. Yippee! Interesting news is that I have to wear an "event monitor" to see why I'm having skipped beats, and we're trying to figure out how to get rid of my last bp med. More scary news...we went to a new restaurant for lunch yesterday and I split a cup of chili and burger balls and came home, fell asleep, and woke with a 36bg! I have my first reactive hypoglycemia attack and it was so so so scary. Sweating profusely, heart racing and skipping, shaking so much I could barely navigate or use my arms/hands, could barely coordinate a thought to speak. And had to forceably make myself go get a can of pineapple juice (only juice in the house) that I keep for making a marinade and some unsweetened applesauce to try to get my bg back up to normal. I was successful in doing that (thank you God). But holy whackadoodle! It was scary larry for a while. Also before saying BS, you'd be dead at 36bg, we use a Fora brand bg meter which I "think" may read low by 10-15points from bgs measured with drawn blood. But it was still very dangerously low, I'd say at least in the mid-40s to low 50s judging on how discombobulated I was and how bad I felt the rest of the day. I also got my fasting insulin back and it's awesome! It went down from 14 to 2!!! So my IR is in remission right now it looks like! IF appears to really be working metabollically for me. My bg this morning was 76. I am planning on doing an 18-6 today but will watch it. @GreenTealael so MAN! I can relate to your posts now about your RH or dumping. I think it may be very similar? How are all of you doing? -
How long dis it take to see your stomach go down
FluffyChix replied to shany1567's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It felt like it took me the longest time to see a difference in my tum and the "thickness" of it. LOL. Also the circumference. I agree that it feels like an insulin resistance/estrogen thing. (And I still have fat to vacate in my belleh.) -
Congrats and welcome to the other side!

I need it to "pop out" a "dent" (ie divot) from one of the scars. Duct tape might just work though! *snort*

This doesn't seem to be anything that needs treating from my perspective. It's normal for our bp's to raise when feuding...it's what the body does. 140/90 is barely borderline in a fight/flight response time. Normal. *but I'm not a doc nor do I play one on the internet or tv.*

For those who had temporary "buyers remorse"
FluffyChix replied to Rexcom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I honestly have never had it and only feel such an overwhelming sense of possibility and wonder at this opportunity. I'm too busy feeling gratitude to everyone who made this chance possible. You know? But I feel so sad for everyone who has gone through this or is presently going through it. It DOES get better. Keep on swimming! -
Does it work on old scars?

One Year Out: Support, Motivation, and Tough Love
FluffyChix replied to hap314ness's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You look so beautiful and healthy girl! Congrats! To @hap314ness that's brutal! Working around snacks would be so so so tempting!!! Can you factor in "healthy" snacks to your day or delay eating, so you have a late lunch when the snack monster hits? Apply new strategies? I know personally, it's hard to sin on a full tummy! Oh! And also a thing that TOTES works for me is to stay fully hydrating like "water-loading". I make myself drink as much of a full bottle (pint) of water at a time, then sip to fullness. Totally lose the urge to eat. I do that whenever I feel myself hungry. And then I stay topped off for the rest of the day. Then 15minutes before a meal, I water-load again and sip sip sip to full. Then nothing for 2hours after the meal. Really helps put you in touch with satiety and keeps me from snacking. -

Congrats on the loss! That's outstanding!!! And I'm sorry you feel like you are slipping or are slipping up. As everyone's said, give yourself huge proppahs for the work you've done and for catching yourself now at this stage while it's so "easily" corrected!!! So I don't think structure and having plans are black or white, good or bad, existent or hedonistic. As @GreenTealael said, it's about finding balance and seeing if there is some level of trust you can establish? For me, having a good action plan is very important. Others see me as rigid. But just like someone with autism who thrives in the tight body suit that allows them to rest, one person's restriction, is another person's security blanket. There are meals, even days when I take a break from worrying about what's on the menu/the food log/macro count. LOL. But overall, I know my RMR is so damn low, that if I want to lose and attain my goal (which is VERY important to me), then I have to be more vigilant and compliant than most. I think we all hit the wall with diet fatigue. I know I do. When that happens, I try to change things up and shake things up, re-write the script/game to keep it fresh and challenging. One thing I did was add IF into my mix and it's made it more fun and challenging again. And also allows me to have some pretty "normal" days/weekends free from macro-duty. I too can eat more than I feel I should be able to at this stage. And that's where my action plans have helped. I've figured out like @GreenTealael some of my go-to foods that I can eat without worry. I've figured out comforty dishes that are very deep nutrition and light on calories so I can sub them in when needed. And I've negotiated some rules for myself that allow me to have 1 "satisfying meal" while the other 1-2 meals while delish are really just to get deep nutrients in. I think setting up some kind of system for yourself, actually GIVES you more freedom. I also second and third the idea about counseling--maybe even get your RD involved again? You can figure this out and losing the regain is gonna be easy, once you find your mojo again. Stick around and post a lot! -
