Oh man! So how long will it last once opened? I have visions of me sitting up at night with my eyes glued to Hallmark Channel, drinking wine from a bottle and taking bites out of this cuz I'm addicted to it and don't want to risk it going to waste/oxidizing. You know how sometimes dry cured salami tastes great freshly opened, then develops a "funk" about it the longer it is open?

OMG! I forget about it all the time! We don't get good stuff here. Love that presentation of it!!! I do love capicola and we can get "ok" stuff of it here.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

How's everyone doing? Anyone IFing? I am not IF today although I did make it 14 effortless hours. Then I ate all of Houston. Tomorrow though I've got a heller IF schedule: clear liquids all. damn. day + 2 bowel preps + craptons of water, green tea, black coffee, non-red/orange (what other forking color is there?) sf jello/liquids. This will last a minimum of 36 hours, but I'm thinking it will be more like 40-48 hours. Wooohooo! Good times. I'm sending a steak down tonight to do recon! -
AMAW/CAMAW - Let's do this thang!
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Woohooo! How did everyone do? So Saturday (Day 7 for me) ended up with me face down doing obscene things to a sausage on a stick and a giant pretzel with mustard. German Christmas Market here...did so well until then. I ended up this morning with the following stats: Start: Day 1 Weight: 152.4lbs Waist Size: 29.5inches End: Day 8 Weight: 151.6lbs* Waist Size: 29.5inches (This is a temporary fluctuation from Saturday's poor choices. I was down to 149lbs on Friday.) Sooooo...even after my transgression on Saturday I ended up a little lower than I began. I have to say, it's a great plan if you're someone who hates veggies. For anyone else, it's sheer torture. And not worth it. I'd much rather do Atkins in any derivation. Not that eat so much contraband, so sugar alcohol subtraction doesn't trip me up or fool me into thinking I can lose weight while eating junk with 100s of grams of sugar alcohols--I do believe that most of us can safely subtract the fiber in veggies and things like psyllium, etc. So I will continue doing my low fat Atkins (with a lower CCL than usual) and will probably net it out. Cuz um, I rationalize. Have I mentioned that? I wish I'd stopped to take a pic. This was brekky this morning and it was VLC (very low carb, super low cal for the protein buck) and I was perfectly satisfied. No angst or carb/veggie envy at all. To me, this is just the "balanced approach" that works for me. It was an egg foldover - like a fluffy egg taco that you fold in half and eat with the guts of turkey, lite cheese, and arugula. Yummy! Edited: It was actually arugula but I clicked on the wrong button cuz I'm so used to having super greens rather than arugula. But they're pretty much the same macros. -
I borrowed this idea from another site. But to be fair, it's a concept that is not new to the low carb/keto community. Atkins '72 had you shoot for your daily protein goal and to keep your carbs (whole, non-net carbs) to about 10g or less per day (loosely). If you can't do <10g of carbs per day, then try to keep them as low as possible and definitely do NOT exceed 20g of whole non-net carbs. So those of you who know me, know I get bored with my same ol' same ol' routine! So I felt like mixing things up and tightening up the carb wagon a bit. I'm eating a crap ton of carbs for my body (about 50-60g per day whole which comes out to about 30-40g net after fiber subtraction). And what tends to happens when you lower your carbs is that you up dietary ketosis (aka you become a fat burning monster, especially if you've already been low carb for a while--you lose your appetite; drop water retention; and you might just lose a couple of pounds of fat in the bargain--you also return back to easy satiety). And come on...after Fatsgiving, don't we all need to adopt a little austerity? The rules of the game are simple: AMAW = All Meat All Week (Meet only for the week--but I'm gonna include eggs, egg whites, poultry, game, domestically and internationally produced red meats, etc, cured meats/jerky/biltong, et al, bone broths and stocks and also all seafood/fish in the meat category) CAMAW = All Cheese and Meat All Week (although personally I think it should be MACAW rather than CAMAW and I'm gonna include other forms of dairy + protein supplements + non-milk dairy like almond milk, coconut milk, cashew milk provided it fits into the carbs/calories scenario previously discussed, since you're already eating cheese--it just has to fit into your 10g-20g of whole carbs for the day.) Fats = Healthy Fats as much as you want/can handle (or as little) provided you stay within your daily carb/caloric goal for the day. This would not ideally include nuts/seeds/nut butters, but again, if that is the line in the sand for you, then we'd rather you play with us for the week rather than sit it out cuz you need your mother truckin' nuts. Right? Am I right? Healthy sources of fats = olive oil, evoo, evco, evpo, avocado oil, mct oil, grassfed butter, avocados, lard, tallow, schmalz (rendered chicken, duck, or goose fat), and if you choose to eat nuts/seeds/nutbutters they would also provide fat as well as protein and carbs. Water/Liquids = 100oz or more per day Vitamins = Of forkin' course, silly! Coffee = yes Tea = yes ****************************** We'll start tomorrow, Sunday December 2, and continue through Saturday, December 8. Who's with me?

New Crush (I've had it for a long time, but it's just a re-awakened desire for the peppery little feathery leaves!) Who knew baby arugula was such a beguiling and charming little coquette? I will add it to everything that stands still and dress it with a tiny spritz of Dijon vinaigrette. I'd add it to Mr. F. or you if you stand still long enough! Arugula an absurdly great nutrient bargain on its own! I made an "egg foldup" for 2nd brekky, like a Spanish tortilla steamed with the lid on until done and puffy. Then topped with blackened turkey, BH lacy swiss, arugula and fresh basil. MI-T-FINE! Sorry no pics. I sucked it down too quickly...yeah on that whole mindful eating. I mindfully watched that my fingers did not get in the way as I shoved it down my pie hole. Do you have any new food finds?

Embarrassing post-op moments?

Proctor - or even shorter..."procto" and then in relation to gas. Not nearly as funny when explained, but I heart nose and potty humor so I was easily amused by it. -

Qs to Ask Self When Considering Plastic Surgery
FluffyChix replied to CarmenP's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My intention is for you to be realistic, but not dissuade you from doing plastics! I've had 3 very very serious plastic reconstructive surgeries and each time I severely underestimated my tolerance for the pain, exhaustion and inconvenience that was part of the process. I'm about to undergo my 4th and I hope last reconstruction. And I've had to ask myself about this over and over again. I was seriously into month 4 before I "turned the corner" and was at 6 months before I felt like myself. Not intending to be negative but it was the most painful stuff I've ever experienced. I could just be unique in it though. I just wished someone had warned me about the freight train heading my way each time. -
LOL. This isn't magic bean surgery. You have to (at least IIIIIII have to) put the work in. LOL. I weigh/measure and track my food every meal. And I log it. It's the only way I know when I go sideways and then I absolutely know what to fix. Instead of rationalizing and bs'ing my way back up the weight loss charts to full blown obesity. It's as simple and as hard as that. At 6+ years post op, your tum is very mature and I bet able to eat a full plate of food. Which should scare the livin' fu*k out of you. I can eat 1/2 a plate at 10 months and I'm terrified!

Qs to Ask Self When Considering Plastic Surgery
FluffyChix replied to CarmenP's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Ask yourself if you can handle a good month of fairly high level pain. Ask yourself if you can handle another couple of months of discomfort and not feeling like yourself/feeling tired, out of sorts, back aches from not standing up fully, and if you're ok with wearing body compression garments and all the hassle that entails. Ask yourself if you can be patient and not over-do for the 2-4 months while you heal without ripping sutures from over-doing. -
I'm back! Yesterday was German Christmas Market in our little town and it was colder than hell but so fun and we got home late last night, then I had to crash after a lot of poor behavior that I won't detail.

Ahhhhhhh! Bach! Ok, that makes sense! I thought you were sayin' you felt like you needed to do a "5 Day Pouch Reset" to punish yourself make yourself go back to small portions and be a good bariatric patient. -

How long until you could tolerate meat?
FluffyChix replied to vsgnewbie77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wasn't gonna live without my veggies. So for weeks I ate 2oz protein (dense) + 1oz veg. Then it grew to be 3oz protein (dense) + 1oz veg, then 3oz protein + 2oz veg, then 3oz protein + 3oz veg. Now it's currently for meats 3/3. But for fish it is 4oz fish + 3oz veg for the meal. You know when to progress cuz you become less satisfied with the meal or get hungry sooner. -

Where to update current weight?
FluffyChix replied to The 56 Bypass's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
You can also just update your ticker (every day if you want). And it will update you automatically everywhere else except in your signature. Go up to your name in upper right, click on the pull down menu and click "Ticker". Then click edit and go through the 4 screens. Save your work, make sure it shows to show in signature and you're done! -
Food Before and After Photos
FluffyChix replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Exactly!!! Anything calorie dense for me is either limited to a "treat" status and I use TINY TINY portions of...or I just don't eat them. And hahahaha! It's totes strange when I have afters! It's like a cause for celebration here! I can eat the hell outta salads and soups. My soups are brothy cuz I prefer that to calorie dense creamy soupy stewps, and so I "drink the broth first" until it's like moist solids left and then eat the solids. So I may serve myself 2 cups of soup, but only then measure into it 1/2-3/4c of solid matrix with 2-3oz of that being meat. -

^^^^This! This!!!^^^^ Same exact thing here!!! A million times. I just have to stick to my portion that I weigh and measure out each time! But um, it's "mature pouch" servings--not necessarily "bari".
