    My birthday gift to me

Congrats! You look fabulous!!!! So happy for you.
  3. Congrats! And even more, congrats on finding things that work for YOU! Experimentation is the key to success!
  4. This citrus flavor is pretty awesome. We used to take it all the time and felt great with it. I just don't know if I will absorb it as an RNY? Or if I need the "dry form" of Vitamin A? LIke from Biotech? Opinions? https://www.amazon.com/BIO-TECH-Bio-Tech-A-25-100-caps/dp/B00CS4C52C/ref=as_sl_pc_ss_til?tag=joutoaheame-20&linkCode=w01&linkId=G5UZQMRTT5FKV27J&creativeASIN=B00CS4C52C
  5. I just found this study: http://bariatrictimes.com/hair-loss-among-bariatric-surgery-patients/ I was thinking of adding a spoon of Carlson's cod liver oil (for a dose of A, D, E, and K), but have no idea if RNY patients can absorb the oil? I'm also gonna add 1/2 tablet (25mg) of zinc for a bit and I'm switching my iron to Feosol Complete which is part heme iron and supposedly better absorbed. I'm also gonna go get some L-Lysine and take 1.5mg per day of it. What do you think @GreenTealael
  6. The endo just told me I'm on the low end of vitamins A, D, zinc, and iron. So I have to follow up to find out what I'm supposed to take. I do not think loading on Biotin helps? @GreenTealael swears by L-Lysine (an amino acid).

    800 Calories Per Day

Dude. You're 6'6". You're an outlier. LOL. I'm 5'4" (barely) with normal to medium build and I struggle to lose at 800cals/day. And I can pack a CRAPTON of nutritious food into 800 cals. LOL. I'm stuck at 149-150lbs right now--so NOT skinny at all, nor close to super skinny. We're all so different!!! (And btw, we want to see pics!!!!)
  8. I'm not so sure sell-out as "issues" and so he's scrambling? And who knows about other stuff.

    800 Calories Per Day

Not surprising. All of this goes hand in hand. You self-medicate to get past the depression and OCD is one thought? Do you work with a therapist? Cuz you KNOW you should. ((hugs)) And she stands by you cuz she sees the person you are deep down and loves you. You are worthy of love.
  10. No it's just in the last few months he went down a rabbit hole...

    Intermittent Fasting Questions

Oh wow. Really? We were given a book/binder at the 1st RD appointment with all of that information in it and it included post-op scheduled food stages and advancement schedules with sample meals. If you Google Post Op RNY diets you will see several of them. Now whether they mirror your doc's advice or not, who knows. Right? LOL in the early days I had a ton of energy (many do). So I just used that time to my advantage and I took a nap. Every live long day. I work at home. And your schedule sounds fine, but why not add a couple ounce of protein drink in a morning decaf at around 7? Then add another couple ounces of protein drink or a high protein chocolate milk (low carb low sugar) before bed at 7pm? That way you're getting in more liquids and more protein? LC Choco Milk 8fl oz Fairlife Fat Free Milk (high protein) 1/3-1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder (or genepro--whatevs) SF Hershey's Chocolate Syrup You can make it into hot cocoa if you want--just mix the protein up cold first and slowly warm it in the micro.

    Intermittent Fasting Questions

It's no different. But the point is that you shouldn't be doing that right now. It's WAY too early for you. Set a schedule. Use the one your surgeon gave you!!! Mine started at 6-8am. I had something scheduled to go down my piehole every 2-3 hours in the early days. And between all that I had fluids to worry about. I actually started my day at 4am and ended it at 10-11pm and the whole day did nothing more than drink, eat, walk, and poop. I ate by the surgeon's schedule (or drank) and didn't deviate from it. And I definitely didn't begin IF or didn't do eating windows of 16:8. It's way too pre-mature and your tummy is too tiny and still healing. Oh and I ate by the clock, not cuz of hunger. I just knew I had to get my fluids in and get my protein in and it was as hard and simple as that. Does that make any sense?
  13. I think all of these points are valid. And there is so much more to E than CICO and driving weight loss. But honestly (although I now have different thoughts about Dr. V.), what he's talking about is not what all of you are talking about. He's not saying to EVER exercise. His point is that in the early days, when you're still struggling to get your protein and fluids down and still only eating 400cals/day, etc, don't worry about going to the gym. Focus on the task at hand which is healing, getting your nutrients in, progressing your diet and also using this time to work on your head and internal you. Then it's time to start hitting the gym if you're ready for it--or not. That most weight loss comes from what you put in your mouth. But we all know the reason to E is for more than weight loss. So much more. So in a sense, ya. I agree with what he's saying. Don't rush. Do your walking. Walk in 5 minute spurts if you need to. Walk in your house. Eat. Drink. Sleep. Poop. Get your head in the game. Don't be sidetracked by become a work out beast before you're ready to do it. You will need more than 400cals per day and need to be able to get more than that by eating in order to fuel your workouts at the gym.

    Intermittent Fasting Questions

Here's a lot of good info on the topic. We have a thread that's over 100pages. LOL. Also YouTube and Google can do a great job of the why's etc. Start at the first page. But you are not at the point to even worry about that for months. Right now for today and next few months just worry about getting your protein in and poopin! (and getting your liquids UP UP UP!)

    800 Calories Per Day

Walter. You've been so honest with us. Thank you for sharing your struggle and triumph. YOU have great power inside you to figure this stuff out and not be a victim to your addictive nature/genetics or whatever it is that predisposed you towards these substances! Please, please, please work on getting to the point where you are just sick of continuing sliding down the slippery slope and regaining all your hard lost weight? PLEASE? I know this is the last area that you get to control. And there must be some part of you that is wanting the high that comes from medicating with food (dopamine/seratonin rush). Why not talk to your surgeon or PCP about prescribing I think it's something like Contrave? Or naltrexone? They give it for food addictions but also to help curb alcohol and drug cravings. Then start working your OA program, just as you work your AA program. Don't let having 3 kids give you the excuse to cave to the craving. You don't want to be obese. I think you don't. Right? It's hard, but you can do it. Someone mentioned a book that is really helpful and free on Amazon for Kindle called Never Binge Again. A dude wrote it and you might relate to it. It really is a helpful book. I have used it for years to help with my BE behaviors. You got this bro. Just take that 2nd step now that you've taken the 1st step!!!

Sophomoreville - A Home For The the Tweeners

TGIF everyone!!! Any big weekend plans? We have 2 parties to attend plus a ton of baking. *sigh* LOL. And you know life stuff. Do you feel/get overwhelmed with it all? Does your new/gently broken-in anatomy help or hinder?

    Let's talk poop.

I don't think it's ur ulcer making your nauseated. I think you're backed up and that's making the nausea. You gotta do everything you can to increase that. I'm so sorry to say but REALLY seriously try to get more in today especially with all the meds you've tumped into your system right now! Serious stuff. Really. Prepare for the delivery of Rosemary's Baby...just sayin.

    Macro targets

This represents a theoretical "daily total" macro split for you, separated by the different post op time ranges. Most people will eat 1-3oz of veggies by weight, which might be 1/2-3/4cup of veggies per meal (in the later stages: 6mo-1year), or some variation of that. It is not implying you should or could eat 2cups of veggies at 1 meal. It's saying aim for about 60g of carbs at the 6mo-1year mark (as an example), and 60g of fat at the 6mo-1year mark (as an example) and that's daily.

I use miralax daily for maintenance regularity but I no longer am a slave to its vagaries. Lol. I go straight for MOM first then fleets glyc supps next until I blow that gopher out of its hole a la Carl and Caddy Shack!

    Depends...lol! Usually 30-45 mins for me.😁
  23. No it really isn't "super high fat" in the original derivation. Atkins in his original derivation had food plans that averaged between 55-75% fat. That's a "skewed" percentage cuz whenever you take 1 macro down, the others go up. It didn't equate to gobs of fat like today's modern "Dave Asprey" world where you add butter to coffee, live on fat bombs, etc. The modern LCHF which is now just called "Keto" is a minimum of 70-75% fat. So yeah, much much higher fat. And agreed it. It's only ever been "protein adequate" and can be very low carb, but can also go as high as 50-70g of carb whole, non-netted. I can eat 50g of carb with most coming from low glycemic veg and leafy veg and I will still be in ketosis all the live long day. Swearsies!!! Also, I think the definition or experience of keto differs greatly based on surgery type and amount of bypass (how much of the intestine that handles fat and sugar was actually re-routed). With VSG, you have no malabsorptive problem. So you can handle the extra fat very efficiently. I swear. I've studied this for about 18 years and read almost every book on the subject from the leaders in the fields. Congrats on losing your regain and doing so well!!!!
