    Pouch Reset /Pouch Test

I'm gonna start a "Pouch Reset" on Jan. 2nd. (pssst, it's basically a low-ish fat Atkins/low carb) It's going back to my surgeon's rules: 1. 64+oz fluids + ALL supplements/vitamins 2. No drinking with meals 30/30 3. Lean protein first 2-3oz per meal + 1-2oz veggies per meal = DO NOT EXCEED 1 cup by volume, so if only the protein fits in the cup, then no veggies at that meal. 4. Aim for 600-800cals per day (60-70g lean protein, <20g net carbs (from veggies-no fruit), <35g fat (Oh and I'm gonna eat that within a 16:8 to 18:6 IF window, just cuz I love to complicate life...) hehe

    No Surgery :(

Sorry to hear this, but it's actually probably good news. Cuz your surgeon flagged a potential issue with the eval. And if it didn't fly past him, it prolly wouldn't have flown past insurance. So he's looking out for you! And as @raeraerae said in her excellent post, it gives you more time to work on you!!! The qualification time is hard, just take it one day at a time and don't quit!

    Protein after 5 weeks

Canned salmon, white fish of any kind, salmon of any kind, canned/pouch tuna, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, eggs (soft scrambled, soft omelets, soft boiled, soft fried), cheese (some do cheese). If you can do canned tuna, you can do canned chicken. Makes all kinds of good things!! This isn't a forever thing...it's only for a brief window. We can withstand anything for short periods of time.

    Support and honesty needed

He's worried about losing an "eating/feeding partner" and also worried about how your new life will affect him. The End. Fu*k him! LOL. You do you. Many of us on here are 50+ and have done so well (and feel younger and like we have a younger life back). Only you know what's going to work for you. But I will tell you this...it's hard work. For some of us, it's hard work. Nothin easy or short cut about it. The tool is only a tool. Someone described this surgery as a nail. A nail does nothing by itself. It just lays there and is a nail. But if you apply action and force (pounding), then it does amazing work and fortifies and strengthens. This isn't magic bean surgery. IT will not make you magically dissolve to a tiny weight. You have to change your lifestyle and your food choices if you want to lose it and keep it off. If you honestly aren't ready for that change? Then in my opinion, you ARE wasting your time, money, and 80% of your tummy, and your golden shot. There's only 1 golden shot. You have to want it like there is no tomorrow.

It is so hard to eat out when you have to buy a full meal for yourself! Ugh! Have y'all come to hate leftovers? Good lordy! I have found that at many restaurants, if someone is at least ordering 1 meal you can order just the "meat add-on" portion for anything from their salads, pastas, or where you "add 4 shrimp to any steak" or things like that. Then I generally share a salad (couple bites for me) and eat some of the veggies from Mr. F.s plate and I'm done. No leftovers! But, that takes being able to share with someone close. For breakfast, I just order off the sides menu anymore like Roxine: 2 eggs scrambled or egg whites scrambled with some salsa then I pick at Mr. Fs stuff. But I do also love the idea of finding places that do small plates!! Love those!

Am I a 'recovered' morbidly obese person?

Congrats! That is fantastic and inspiring. I don't know that I can help you explain why. But my philosophy is that once we're obese, we're always gonna be "recovering obese". Why? Cuz we've got all those hungry hungry fat cells and internal hormones and thoughts and even guts that want to get us back to obesity. I think maintenance is something unique to each of us according to the amount of brokeness?? But you're basically keto which is a great way to maintain. And you have a carb up day/meal. NBD. Keeps you healthy. Glad you can enjoy fats!!

Dang! I know she's in Mexico today. Thanks for showing us! And for the disclaimer! bahahahaha! I reckon if you are only eating 1/2-3/4c of food per each of 2-3 meals? You can eat whatever you want! Especially when you're at goal girlie!!! Looks yum!

Post! Post! Post! So how much protein do you think you get in a day and your volume of the food you actually eat. We all know how your B/A's go, Waldo. *snic
  14. Are you kidding? If anything, it makes you more elusive, independent and attractive. And the 3 bikinis can't hurt. Right? Wooohooooo! And truth? I love the lay by the pool and have Juan the Poolboy peel me grapes and pour great tequila. Culture is highly overrated. ha! Have a fun and memorable trip with Mom!!! How cool that ya'lll are doing that!
  15. OMG! Do I guess Mexico? Or South America? Ole!!! Drink and eat some of that for me!!! You are gonna have a blast. Did you buy a bikini? Is your boo going with?
  16. I like it if it's ice cold over ice (redundant much?) and cut with water by 50%. And my favorites are the fruit punch, green tea and the grape.

About how long is your fast would you say? Also, if you visualized your meal portions by total volume, what do you think your volume is?

Bravo for hacking your bad self!!! I need to bookmark this so I can revisit it! But fairwarning...I'll be back to ask you how to do it! I've still got 15 or so to go to goal--maybe more--if my mind cooperates and gets back on the program!

    Post-Op Gastroparesis

Girlfriend. Break-up with Dr. Google!!!! Seriously, if you read about it you are likely to make sure you get it. LOL. Gastroparesis doesn't "just happen". It's usually an underlying condition that occurs due to external factors such as diabetes and such. The chances that your surgeon accidentally jacked with your vagus nerve are pretty small. They know the consequences of that and don't want that kind of prob. But saying that, I'm sorry you are nauseated after eating. It's quite likely you have esophagitis in addition to the ulcer and it makes food sit heavy then start the whole nausea dialogue. But I don't play a doc on the internet--so don't know. But if it were me, I'd call my doc. I can tell you, right now I have a raging case of esophagitis and food is painful to swallow and feels like it's trying to climb its way out of my esophagus and piehole. But I'm too mean to let that **** take hold. So I deny its existence and just keep making myself eat. Sorry you're having continued issues. I SWEAR in 6 months you will look back and won't remember the huge trials you've had!!!

Yes! Exactly!!!! So far I'm still ordering egg white omelets, but this Christmas, I notice I'm stealing bites from his grits bowl and have a couple bites of his biscuit and gravy! And maybe a bite of hashbrowns while I'm at it. And it doesn't sound like much...but with as much as I can eat--I'm a little askeered. LOL. Congrats on being below goal girlie. You've done SO well! I have absolutely no idea how you've been able to do what you do so very well in your industry! It's not just simply your restriction. I think you're also making better choices or setting limits that you may not be aware of. No one's tool does ALL the heavy lifting!! Congrats and thanks for always inspiring!

    Ugh... gastroenteritis

Feel better soon! Get that fluid in more than food. Don't worry about missing protein for a day or two. But make yourself get fluid! ((hugs))
