When did you really start to see results?
FluffyChix replied to Bypassgirl92's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It felt like forever before I could see it in a reflection. I too took monthly pics and did a comparison collage to see it. I could see some of them, but not others. I think it took about 50lbs to see it on me a little bit. -
2 of my favorite recipes for no brainer food: 1. Eggwhite puff. Use whatever veg you have/want, meats, cheese. I like to see how much protein I can get in for the minimum in carbs/cals/fat. So I nuke them in 2 - 4oz ramekins. In 1 I do the baby spinach and mushrooms that I love with a shake of granulated garlic. In the other I put a frozen seasoning blend (onion, pepper, celery), precooked turkey crumbles, 70g of egg whites and a shake of granulated garlic. Nuke both until done. I nuke the egg for 20 second intervals and it takes about a minute total. I nuke the veg for maybe 30-40secs. Then I put the cheese wedge on top of the veg and the egg on top of the cheese and go to town on it. Here's the non-recipe. And a pic of doing it all in one bowl. No pics from this morning. Recipe #2 Green Soup. Use any kind of veggies you have. I like frozen turnip greens, seasoning blend, broccoli, green beans, squash...anything you have!!! Or fresh baby spinach and mushrooms. Use any kind of meat and combine it so that it's 1cup total volume solids (or whatever you can eat at your stage for solid food). Then I fill with brothy liquid. I slurp the broth with a spoon without the solids until the solids are dry. Then I eat the solids. Sometimes when I'm being good, I will wait a few minutes between the liquid and solids. Other times I don't. Here was today's soup, but it varies every time. And here's a pic of the soup. I got 28g of protein in for only about 200cals. Woot!

Feel better soon. Drinking and walking are your best defenses right now!

Hope you have healed and mended and are now enjoying your new life! Congrats on your dramatic losses! Are you ounces by volume or weight? So you're talking 3/4cup to 1cup? My surgeon and RD said the 1 cup maximum volume is for life. What you put into that 1cup depends on if you're gaining or losing or maintaining. Looks like you are just barely in your normal range. I wouldn't worry, but would try to max out your nutrition at every meal so you are getting the most nutrient dense food you can get.

How often do you get on the scale months out vs years out?

Denial is a strong state. And no one will fight so hard to defend a paradigm shift as someone who is committed and believes their present position. They will often defend, deny, and rationalize to death. Literally. It's part of why debates can turn wickedly brutal--very quickly.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
You can always do a 5:2 alternate day type of fast where you eat 500 calories or less on non-consecutive days and eat normally the remaining days. It gives pretty much the same effect as eating windows and doesn't seem to have as steep a hormonal effect on women? You can read about it from Dr. Michael Moseley (5:2 Fast Diet), Dr. Johnson Alternate Day Diet, Dr. Krista Varady The Every Other Day Diet. Hugs hope shark week gets here soon. I think it's probably coincidental, but you just never know!! -
Ohhhh!!! Waist trainers!!! Brilliant!

No darling! If I was, I would say "can eat 1 thimble of..." fill-in-the-blank of comfort food! But no, sadly I'm talking about the bazillion newbies I see here and on FB who are so militant, already overeating quantities, and call me Food PoPo for raining on their parade, warning them that their antics could come back to bite them. They are super defensive and ugly cuz I dare to suggest at some point everything in moderation is gonna equal a full plate of food (or 2). I'm not so sure you will ever be there! And like we discussed a couple days ago, if all you;re eating is a thimble, then you HAVE to look at calorie dense (nutritionally dense food), especially when you're at maintenance like you are--otherwise you will continue to lose and be in bigtime Billy Badass shape with losing too much weight. You know? MUAH!

No offense taken. I was speaking about both me and him and my illustration of what a day at 800 cals could look like and that it's in line with people eating 1 cup of food from here to eternity, and eating the kind of food that is "dietetic in nature." Of course we know there are even more people not as anal as I can be at times, who eat 1 cup of food like fettuccine, pizza, fried chicken with mashed potatoes/a bag of potato chips and French's onion dip. LOL, who are not concerned with dietetic dimensions like low EVERY THE FU*K thing!

For the record, there is NO universal formula that fits all patients, wls or otherwise. Cuz you know, come on...if it were that easy would any of us be sitting here at BP? ((hugs)) It's so hard to figure out the hacks that work for us. Even more so when we don't know what our new future holds or what our new realities will be. I'm not sure even a surgeon knows. I'm sure not all of his patients are falling on their swords to confess the behaviors that deviate from his WORD. LOL. I'm not particularly petite, more average. And some days that amount is a struggle and negotiation for me. Often days I fail epicly. But I just keep gettting back up, brushing myself off and trying to get refocused and back to business trying to find what it was that contributed to the fail so I can improve and hopefully make the same mistakes less often.

I don't know...I haven't exactly been tearing up the streets with losses since I hit 150lbs. For most of Nov/Dec I ate this way 95% of the time and fu*ked off the other 5% and maintained essentially at a 150lb range. So I'm thinking maintenance to me may be nothing more than average of 800-1100 cals loosely.

Get back to doing your basics as everyone has mentioned to you. Dense protein first. Do not exceed 1 cup of food by volume EVEN IF YOU CAN! That is the kiss of death. The bitter irony is that this program/surgery only works as prescribed. If you try to freestyle and "eat things in moderation" of the craptastic calorically dense kind, we can eat WAY more than 1 cup and then we end up overeating calories. It's reward food heroine/crack cocaine to us. It's what got most of us to the Obesity Ball in the first place. Moderation? BS. What moderation?

Bahahahaha! I just copied you and wasn't even trying!!! Over in the January Challenge thread I said this in a different way! Good times! You rock girlie!

Wasa Fiber Cracker Thins Carb Balance (Mission Low Carb) Small Tortillas, cut into wedges and nuked until crisp on a paper towel Several low carb breads such as Revolution Rolls (made small to new portion sizes) Here's my recipe version of it. I am biased and think it's the most bread-like: http://fluffychixcook.com/basic-revolution-ary-rolls-low-carb-and-gluten-free/ There are other low carb breads you can buy. Even Sarah Lee has a pretty lower carb. It's def a YMMV thing. It's way too early to combine bread with protein. My doc said it's the kiss of death and causes lots of constipation and concrete in her patients.

#9 How I'm Keeping On Plan: Well, I'm taking it one day at a time. Honestly. Some days have been better, others not-so-much, but I forgive myself and move on. The idea is to string together as many back-to-back days of being 100% on plan as I can, cuz it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more days you string together on success, the more you want to add another day to your tally. And if you have the right plan filled with small actions daily = success eventually! Woot!!! Success is nothing more and nothing less than a series of small repeatable actions done every day. Here's what I'm trying for daily: 1. Log everything (ideally plan it before hand) and track. 2. Weigh daily 3. Get my fluids in (100+/day) 4. Take my supplements 5. Eat 3 small meals no more than 1cup volume (60-70g protein; 20g net carbs; 30-40g fat) 6. IF 16:8 daily 7. Exercise 6 days per week 8. Sleep as much as I can at night (sometimes that's a challenge due to pain) 9. Pray/meditate 10. Spend time with friends

1 week to go and feeling slightly lost
FluffyChix replied to elcee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your surgery. It will be here before you know it!! Wooot!! So clean eating...I'd TOTALLY drop all white things (sugar, rice, potatoes, pasta, carby breads) and caffeine/diet drinks. I would rather have a week of misery now before I deal with pain than doing it all at the same time. I'd do keto/low carb. I probably would have started that 3 weeks ago, but you can still make a difference in 1 week. Good luck girl!!! -
@Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 Her doc in NZ says almost the same thing. He has a study of over X number of patients and has a phenomenal success rate with very very little regain which is highly unusual. I so agree with cardio for weight loss then muscle build at the end of your losses. I'd heard this a long time ago...But what do I know about fitness...almost nothing! It sounds really hard to do in theory. But let me illustrate. I'm told that regardless of how far out I am, I need to limit my portions to 1 cup. Here's my planned menu for today based on 1 cup of food/3 meals. It's higher on fat today cuz I'm having salmon 2 times due to leftovers. Sure, it doesn't leave any room for shenanigans or rich comforty food, but it gets my basics in. I could add another meal or two of just veg for very few more calories and I doubt it would wreck me to have 5 small meals rather than 3, but this is theoretically a sustainable diet. Right? I think if we planned on doing this 95% of the time and then exercising too, we'd prolly have little issues with having 5% shenanigans. Or at least I'm hoping for that!! Oops! Sorry I forgot to take out the Sausage Patty and replaced it with turkey sausage. I'll correct it now.

IKR? I'm vaguely excited! They're coming to our HEBs in May. Hope they aren't just thin sliced cheese! I get the Boar's Head Lacy Swiss sliced and use it for wraps.
