Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Ok, update. Only made it until 8pm last night. Then I was starvin' and couldn't get past Mr. F's dinner. Meh. 😕 Oh well. Am going for it today. Mr. F. and I are going to attempt a 36hour fast to see if we can get his BGs down. He stopped his big T2 drug and is only on metformin right now and his sugars are up a bit. So in solidarity, I'm gonna see if he thinks he can push until either tomorrow morning or tomorrow at noon. -
Yay!!!! I'm so thrilled for you and know you will hit your goal in just a blink of an eye--cuz you're dang near already there! Great work hon. Saying prayers for speedy recovery--you've been through so much!!!

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hi and welcome. Please hang out with us. I wouldn't do IF until at least 6months post op and until I know I can get ALL of my daily protein needs met with food. Plus being able to get lots of fluids in and all my vitamins/minerals in without chewables. -
Cheese will TEAR me up. LOL.

Welcome TimmyJ.

Anyone else experience this?
FluffyChix replied to FancyChristine15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep hydration. Maybe add a pinch of pink himalayan sea salt to your water about 3-4 times per day and get your fluid intake up!!! Stand up slowly!! -
Sorry you're experiencing this. I'd say wait to hear from the doc. It could be so many things.

Welcome home @sillykitty!!! Sorry I was so self-absorbed that I failed to say that. We MISSED you SO. MUCH! Now start posting like a ho and update us on all the exciting things in life! We count on you to live vicariously! BF updates too! @clsumrall Congrats on getting into IF! How are you doing today? @GreenTealael How did your fast go? How are you feeling these days? Are you maintaining easily or still worried that you are still losing? *** I am doing a long fast today. We went out 2 times this weekend. *sigh* I didn't even make super "poor" choices, but the combination of eating many more cals, a few more carbs, and probably more volume than I'm used to eating at multiple meals in 1 day just really packs on the pounds quickly! 😕 The struggle is real! I'm back up to 144.4lbs this morning. Grrrr!!!! I don't make pristine choices any longer. I "skate" the edge. I know that's just "living life" but my particular reality means that "Magic always comes with a price, deary." So today I pay the piper. I hate that dude! TG for IF though. Cuz it's relatively easy for me to jump back into on Mondays and Tuesdays. I am going to see what happens if I do a long extended fast this week. I'm going to watch my blood sugar and ketones with our ketone meter and see what happens and I'm planning to go as long as possible on a liquid fast with water, decaff coffee and decaff green tea/match. My last caloric "food" was liquid (yes it was fermented grape juice) at 9:30pm last night. 😕 f**king wine. So I'm gonna count 9:30pm as the start of my fast. We'll see how long I can go. I will check in here periodically to post a quick update to let y'all know what I'm experiencing. I think it would be pretty cool to be able to do through Wednesday--or Thursday morning. But I don't know if I can hang that long. I will still take all my vitamins. Luckily, I don't have probs taking vitamins on an empty stomach, I may also keep taking psyllium husks in tea cuz the calories are minimal and would have minimum/if any impact on insulin and blood sugar. I'm not gonna "name how long" my fast will last. Cuz I've really no idea how long I can go. Psychologically I'm "afraid" and worried I will wimp out. Maybe I will pretend that today I'm on a clear liquid diet in solidarity with our friend @Orchids&Dragons who is having gallbladder surgery on the 27th. So I'll do my "clear liquids" a day in advance of her journey? How's everyone else doing? -
NP. Welcome to the boards. You should fill out all your profile information and put up a ticker so we know more about you! It's under your account settings!

First real temptation
FluffyChix replied to Sheribear68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! Exactly! We each have to figure things out and hack our bodies in order to develop those life-long new and healthy relationships with food, alcohol, and socialization that will keep us at our healthy goal weights for life rather than to returning to another day/night at the Obesity Ball. -
So sorry about the GB stuff. ((hugs)) But FYI, you can be in a "keto" state without doing fat. I just eat low carb and low fat. Works for me. If I eat high fat stuff, I get so sick. Miserable!

The mental struggle is real

Very timely and well-thought post! Thanks for sharing this with us. It's 100% true! I saw this yesterday and it kinda addresses a little of what you're talking about: How to Develop Healthy Habits for Life https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/8-ways-make-healthy-habit-stick/?utm_source=mfp&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=MFP_Extra_HealthyHabitsforLife_20190222&os_ehash=55@sfmc:181675394 -
Very upset after nutritionist appointment
FluffyChix replied to Simples's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
So bottom line, it's our responsibility to our future health to take in the protein that is going to repair our bodies and build new cells and maintain life. Those proteins need to be easily digestible and bioavailable. They need to be complete. So whatever sources they're from: plant of animal, that's the bottom line. If you don't like it--then I highly encourage you to NOT have the surgery. Cuz it's a lifelong commitment that you make to get your daily protein in!!!! This isn't a position of "those damn meat eaters" all they talk about is protein! It's not a political conspiracy to keep the man down. It's your nutritionists opinion that you need 100g of protein/day. So you follow it, or don't. They will be running tests on you and those tests are gonna tell the truth of your status. Albumin and pre-albumin test for how much protein you are getting and have available. The lower the number the greater the association with death from all causes. Critically ill and malnourished people will have low values on these tests. And once you deplete your protein, it's very difficult to replace it--cuz it's much easier to replace it with fat. So you break down protein, you slow your metabolism, and once you DO start eating more calories (and you will--just wait and see), then you will be back crying cuz you've gained your weight back and you "just don't understand why"!?! So if you want all to be well with your life, I'd recommend you meet your protein goals. Most of us have a goal of 60-80g of protein per day, cuz we're just average peeps of average musculature. I try to get at least 60g/day. -
Awwwww shazam! That sure explains things but that is sad to hear!!!! ((hugs)) Have they started your thyroid meds yet? Is it still too early to ask if you feel any relief yet? I'm so sorry you have to experience this!!!!

First real temptation
FluffyChix replied to Sheribear68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't confide. Rock through it. You're doing a great job! If he wonders, just tell him you had a little procedure done...that way you don't usurp and upstage his big day. You're a rockstar and doing tremendously! Congrats! Remember to chew chew and chew some more. It will make puree in your mouth. -
Well Tip #1, would be to only post your question on one board. We will all see it and anyone who can help, will. But by posting the same question on multiple boards means you flood the Recent Topics Bar with repeats and people get confused about which one to post to.
