10 months, is it over or a stall?
FluffyChix replied to baribetty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There’s an if thread here but I’m on my cell and a total derp on knowing how to share links on iPhones 😡hopefully @GreenTealaelWill do that? im kinda doing advanced Jason Fung stuff now, but began with time restricted eating windows and add caloric restriction. I’m also a long term over. 🤪 But people should start slowly, have the blessing of their team, be able to easily get all their protein in with food, and IMHO, be 6-moths post op with no surgical or health issues. -
10 months, is it over or a stall?
FluffyChix replied to baribetty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on your losses!! I found that I’d grown bored with being a hard ass and started loving my new thinnish life. I had to make a set of rules for inner teenager and put new groundwork down for healthy living and finishing the race. I shook things up, made it a new game and added IF to the mix. It started everything back in motion. These last 20lbs have been brutal determined work. Very slow progress with patience and grace required. Still not perfect! I have 10lbs to go to reach final goal. If I get bored, I just shake it up and invent a new game. 😂 we can all do this!! -

It's no doubt, the cardio-intensive regimen you follow. -
Ok, for the trifecta today... Are you struggling with cravings? Do you want to get back on track and quit eating sweets at night or quit drinking that wine? I just saw this and thought it was so cool! I might have to get some to try!

Nights spent in the hospital after sleeve surgery?
FluffyChix replied to killerqueen86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Welcome. 1 night and out by 11am the next morning. -
Can be entirely rando. One day your playing well with your new anatomy and the other notsomuch. I think it has to do with if you've irritated it some way, or if you're dehydrated. Sorry you had that happen! ((hugs)) Feel better soon. I'd take it easy for the next day or two with your food choices. Go back to basics...

Food Before and After Photos

Ok, here's another SUPER satiating meal! Apologies for how disgusting it looks! The flavor is basically linguine with white clam sauce, only I used leftover sauteed calamari and garlic and used about an ounce of leftover alfredo from Mr. F's meal. I sauted it with crimini and baby spinach and topped with a bit of reduced fat feta. Took 5 minutes to make--didn't feel or taste like leftovers and was super filling. Couldn't finish my 1cup of food. Yay team. That is always sweet sweet music to my ears! So mushrooms, spinach and calamari = a great gut bomb to fill you up. (Oh and that's about an ounce of shirataki rice in the meal. It added great chew!) -

^^^This a meeeeellllion percent! Love this post!! @sillykitty You really are a silly kitty! Girl, you worked your fanny off and you know it. You deserve to be celebrated for your accomplishment and ARE celebrated! You;re a smart girl. You could have figured out a way around your restriction!! And in fact, you noted several meals where you felt like you could eat more! So not only does it take very great mindfulness skills to listen to your restriction--it's far from a slam dunk!!!! MUAH! And congrats on your below goal weight. You look beautiful!! And if some regain happens, you know what to do about it if it doesn't end up where you want it! -

Ok, I know I'm not smart enough to have found this on my own. Who posted this one about "Filters" and WLS?...say what you want about Dr. V., but he has pretty clear insights into the mind games!

@Orchids&Dragons I'm so sorry about the state of your tubesocks girls. ((hugs)) @Sosewsue61 Welcome back my friend! Hold on tight and do it just for today. We can do anything for 1 day. Then tomorrow wake up and recommit for 1 day. Pretty soon you'll be going strong and you will catch the fire. I swear seeing the scale move quickly is the big motivator. Just embrace the suck for 1 day only. ((hugs)) @GreenTealael Can I just tell you that I adore your videos!!!??? Love the links you post - they teach so much and are very helpful and uplifting/empowering! Fiber = Big Crush for me. Must. Have. Fiber. LURVE fiber! Love Dr. B. @AEdoesRnY Welcome! Hope you will hang out here and post often. There are some super duper posts in the last 153pages. Bahahahaha! Happy reading/losing. IF really helps shake the tree up. I also recommend a "lowerish" carb approach. Even though @sillykitty wasn't LC/keto by her foods, I believe she was/is by virtue of her restriction and daily calories. And I really think we all want to access the fat stores in our body rather than burning lean tissue. Being keto means you have access to your fat stores to make up the nutrition you need when you're in calorie restriction from fasting. If you are only in calorie restriction (that may be high enough to keep you from ketosis), then you don't have access to those fat stores and your body smartly down regulates your metabolism in alignment with your calorie restriction. Plain as mud, right? I'm doing good here y'all. Still bouncing between 140-144. Today I'm 141.0 and will hopefully be 140 tomorrow again. Or maybe I will tick down into the 130s? I can hope. Right? I want to be @sillykitty when I grow up. -
Gastric bypass 6 years ago
FluffyChix replied to Donnythedevil's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Dang congrats on your success and marriage! You can do this! Finish the race you started!!! You have to dig deep to remember the drive you had in the beginning. The hunger for your goal is still there, but you may be giving in and rationalizing now that you can do so many more fun things and feel so much better about yourself? Like the advice before this, try to go back to the portions you were told to eat for life...1cup? 1 1/4cups? Whatever that is--measure and log everything!!! I'd go back to super low carb/lower cals... -
What, you had NO surgery complications?
FluffyChix replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love my surgery. No issues that aren't just part of life and part of my medical history. I could drink from day 1 and was getting my protein needs met within about 3-4days? I still sometimes don't believe my doc did surgery on me. I'm now working on my third and last goal and am 56yrs young! Yeeehaw. This morning I ran 30minutes without stopping. A year ago, I could barely walk for 5 continuous minutes. It was seriously difficult. Thanks for starting this thread! Love it!!! -
Puree options limited please help
FluffyChix replied to Lochnessamber's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I honestly don't get the angst of your post in looking at your selections? I'm so sorry. I would truly encourage you to start working on reframing your reality and doing head work to work through the grief you are clearly feeling about the changes you chose to make to your body and how that is going to affect your eating. You don't see this now, but a year from now when you are 50-100lbs lighter, your life will be TOTALLY different! I promise. You will be able to feel how fortunate this is! I sometimes think surgeon's give you these limits not only to protect your new anatomy (you can do serious damage by challenging it too early), but also because they want us to break the cycle of using food for in a disordered pattern and putting too much importance on meal variability and too much on "food being good/yummy/comforty." In this early time you have the opportunity to lose THE MOST WEIGHT IN A MONTH you will lose in all of your WLS history. We lose the most weight in the first 2 months following surgery. So please please embrace this time. I swear, it gets SO much better if you relax into it, keep it simple, measure and log everything, but just keep it simple. You know? Keep it low low cal/meet your protein goals/keep carbs and crap out of it. I didn't have to do puree. I had to do soft foods that were chewed to puree. But here are things that would fit your reqs. All you have to do is put em in a food processor (mini chopper) and bam you're there. 1. Eggface Ricotta Bake (google it) 2. Green bean casserole (bariatric style) with canned chicken 3. Tuna casserole (bariatric style) with green beans instead of peas 4. Mexican beef with cheese or beans with cheese (too carby for me--made me hungry too soon after eating) 5. Broccoli, spinach or cauliflower pureed with light cream cheese, lemon juice, s/p/g (steam the crap out of it first) 6. Smashed cauliflower with bacon and green onions (put in a food processor) 7,. Any soup or chili made bariatric style 8. Fish in foil pouches with lemon and spices/herbs. 9. zucchini sauteed with onion, tomatoes and herbs and pureed--can add any kind of lean meat. 10. yogurt/cottage cheese blends with berries. I just ate the same things all the time in rotation usually. And the time went by quickly. Hang in there. The time does pass quickly. -
Feeling like there’s no hope for me...(LONG)
FluffyChix replied to imtired's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Getting back on track is THE hardest first step. But we can bear anything for 1 day right? Start today. This day. Just do 1 day. That's all. One day. Don't worry about anything other than this day, the present meal. Then tomorrow, do it again. Pretty soon you will look back and see a string of successful days and you will feel more in control of your universe. Swearsies. -

FluffyChix replied to imtired's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Gosh sorry you're going through this! The things I would do? 1. Go see Rude Surgeon and get copies of your chart from him including the test (which should have a report and pics) so you can take it to your second opinion surgeon. 2. Start today with a pre-op meal plan that ditches: Grains (whole or processed grains) White Things (sugar, potatoes, flour, rice, tapioca or corn starches) Diet Drinks Caffeinated Drinks Clean the crap outta the pantry (chips, pretzels, pasta, candy, etc.) 3. Start today with meals Prioritizing lean protein. 3-4oz per meal. Eat it first (the drier and plainer the better). Include a 1/2 cup-1cup serving cooked veg. Include a 1/2-1cup serving salad with homemade vinaigrette dressing Aim for only 3 meals per day without snacking. (If you must snack, limit it to 1 or 2 snacks of 100cals or less and very low carb/higher protein: cheese stick, hb egg, 1-2oz lunchmeat, raw veg with Greek Yogurt Ranch.) 4. Start today to track your calories and macros and plan your meals. I'd use MFP and I'd aim pre-surgery for 1500 cals, 20-30g of total carbs, 74g protein, and healthy fat to make up the calories until you reach 1500. **See if you can begin feeling satiety and restriction. I agree with @GreenTealael that I would do the DS from where you are--especially if you are dealing with issues of satiety. But you might be able to get back on track just from revamping your diet and eliminating all the crud that has crept in. It will definitely help keep you full longer. -
Agree! So true!!
-
Brilliant! Yes. Agree 100%. I am still in weight loss mode. I walk almost 7 days a week—at least an hour per day. I do not “eat back” my exercise calories because honestly? The intensity nor duration warrant it. If I suddenly started dropping 3-4lbs per week at my stage, then I would re-evaluate. IMHO, if you aren’t losing and you’ve ruled out ALL variables and you know you’re faithfully accounting for everything, then you are consuming too many calls or carbs for your individual metabolism.
